"When you hear the word ‘document’ you might not get all that excited. Maybe you think about filing paperwork, taxes, or important documents you’re scared to lose like your birth certificate. But really… Documents can change the world. That’s right. With just ink and a few, or many pages, the entire world can be impacted.
You might think because WD specializes in document storage they might be biased but these illustrations prove their point. Below are six of the world’s most famous documents so you can see just how a document can make the world a different place. After all, try to imagine a modern world without The Declaration of Independence? Or what would have happened without The Magna Carta?".

The Diary Of Anne Frank, 1942-1944, The Netherlands
Anne's father heavily edited the diary before publication to remove her musings about a girl she was attracted to.
and about her sexual feelings for Peter. You can now buy the unabridged version.
Load More Replies...She was also an excellent writer--what a talent she had for such a young girl. To think of all that was lost...is sometimes too much to think about.
If you want a more recent counterpart, I strongly recommend Zlata's Diary. It also has a happier ending, as last I checked, she's still alive and living in Paris.
Letter From A Birmingham Jail, 1963, America
The Gutenberg Bible, 1455, Germany
Ah yes, "Social Media Knowledge". Gutenberg didn't invent the first printing press, printing presses existed in China, Babylon and even Rome. It's not like until 1400 every book was written by hand, and suddenly, boom, on January 1st, 1400, printing presses appeared everywhere. Gutenberg was responsible for the printing press with *movable letters* and was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to be acknowledged as the inventor of something, he improved remarkably.
Pretty sure that's what a printing press is: printing with movable letters. The Chinese developed block printing, which while more efficient than writing every single character, was still time and energy-consuming.

"This is not peace, it is an armistice for 20 years." -Ferdinand Foch, French Marshal, 1919
Declaration Of Independence, 1776, America
Love your name! We need an action movie where The White Death goes after Stalin.
Load More Replies...It would be great if America was still a beacon of democracy and rule by the people, instead of the Republicans setting up ways to cheat their way to power absolutely everywhere.
ALL political parties in America are crooked. Not just Republicans.
Load More Replies...The Magna Carta, 1215, England
So "Bad" King John signed a document that revolutionized social justice, while "Good" Richard the Lionhearted participated in a genocidal crusade overseas.
Ol' D**k was also killed by a kid with a crossbow and a frying pan, as revenge for killing his father and two brothers.
