What happens after we say cheese? The subjects of the following photographs probably didn’t predict the answer to be a morbid plot twist. We have all seen post-tragedy photos of terrible accidents, but there is something particularly ominous and haunting about pre-tragedy photos: smiling families, groups embarking on explorations, and daring stunt attempts, not in the least expecting to be caught in a natural disaster or a horrific plane crash. Some of these pictures appear so unassuming and cheerful that it makes what followed all the more horror story-like.
William Shakespeare famously said, “Men at some times are masters of their fate,” but as you will see in the following photos, this is not always the case. Scroll down below with caution to see the Bored Panda round-up of some of the most creepy photos taken before a tragedy.

Giant space Tiger - I'm from Northern Ireland- lived through the troubles and the situation is extremely complex. Best not to make political comments on a situation you don't understand. We are just grateful that those days have passed and we can go about our lives without worrying about being blown up or shot.

Last Moments Of Harambe, Gorilla Killed After A Child Fell Into His Enclosure At The Cincinnati Zoo In 2016
The fault is of the parents, not keeping an eye on their child. Harambe may have been dangerous, but so is letting your child wander around at that age. They should have been supervising.

Archduke Ferdinand And His Wife Sophie 1h Before They Would Be Shot And Killed By Serb Nationalist Gavrilo Princip - This Event Was The Trigger For The Wwi
it's incredible how he was actually killed. An assassin had tried to throw a bomb under their passing car, but it missed and exploded the car behind, the assassin then took his cyanide pill, but it was faulty and just caused him to throw up (a lot) so he panicked and threw himself in the river, but it had been a long hot summer, so the river was shallow... Ferdinand then was rushed away but later wanted to go and see the survivors or the earlier bomb, it was when he was on his way there that he was shot.

im going back to the post with all the corgies....
This should be the winning comment.
It feels very odd to look at these. They are historical documents in a way, looking at them yet feels wrong in a strange way. Anyone else with ambivalent feelings?
Personally - I would feel so bad had I captured a picture inadvertantly seconds before something dreadful happened to a person in the frame - i would actually feel guilty and never want to see it again
Yes, I was constantly thinking why am I still scrolling down, it's awful to know that these were their last moments and I wanted to stop. On the other hand it feels like I'd press the ignore-button if I did quit, and this doesn't feel like something I could ignore, just so I'd feel better. I don't feel better either way, so yes this feels very odd.
No. Your instincts are right. This is a morbid obsession for some people, and I have no doubt that some people clicked on the article hoping to see dead bodies, smashed beyond recovery. .... This is a sick, sick thing to do.
yeah.
but on the other hand - many of these pictures are a unique record even though disturbing to see - many from pre-mobile phone videoing everything that moves times
No you're just a pussy
Meow!
In case you didn't feel sad enough today...
