Load More Replies...I’ve never heard of this and IT’S REAL 😂👏 I need one for my apartment asap, I wonder if I can find or commission a replica.
Idk, it's probably pretty terrifying to a toxically masculine Russian submariner.
Load More Replies...Good for I surel hope he was compensated for the keeping locked up for so long being an innocent man .
Edit: actual answer is in the comments below.....I think I read somewhere that he was given and ok settlement..but not as much as some states do.
Load More Replies...I'm pretty sure the poor guy died about six months later in a motorcycle accident. 🤔
The test audience found the true aftermath of his passing , months after release, too traumatic. Hence it was cut and edited out of the film
Load More Replies...Here’s a “Scary Fact”. According to the DNA Project: 614 people have been exonerated based on DNA testing in the U.S. (and I’m assuming that’s only the lucky/unlucky bastards that qualified). 38 people have been exonerated from death row. Though all 50 states have post-conviction DNA laws, many of these laws are so restrictive or limited in scope that few people can actually access DNA testing after being convicted. Wow! Just fùcking Wow!!
A federal judge awarded more than $10.7 million to the sister of Kenneth Waters, who died six months after serving more than 18 years for a wrongful murder conviction.
The only ones who were "weird" and "creepy" here were the strangers beating up this poor guy.
Right? What is wrong with people? I can't imagine just beating someone up, anyone. Except those guys maybe.
Load More Replies...I'm fully aware that violence doesn't end violence, but I don't think I possess the capacity to be this kind toward these vicious creatures.
But it can stop the perpetrators until the victim is safe and until they learn to behave better.
Load More Replies...Asperger's is no longer a recognized diagnosis since 2013 (now considered part of the Autism Spectrum) due, in part, to the allegations that the clinic Hans Asperger was working with mùrdered hundreds of neurodivergent children under the Nàzi regime.
A lot of people with Asperger's still use it because saying "autistic" or giving levels or whatever is pretty much lost on a general public that hears "autism" and thinks "rain man", despite Hans Asperger himself being problematic.
Load More Replies...True. It's hard wired into us. The same cave man instinct that makes us afraid of spiders and snakes for example. However this does NOT excuse that sort of reaction. Shame on them
Load More Replies...Change ADHD or any other mental issue to be gay, and here in Spain it still happens. I do not have the statistics, but even 1 death is MUCH worse than zero. And if we start to talk about gender violence that ends with a death... Statistics are awful. In 2023 more than 50 and some include kids.
As Sophie Lancaster found out, it's not safe to be a goth either. As Gerry said above, people are irrationally afraid of people who are "different" whether it be autism, gay, goth, black, witch, Muslim... if you're not like them "panic! argh! k**l it with fire!". :(
Load More Replies...Wonderful man. He's very sensible and I hope the education did more good for the offenders than being locked up with a bunch or criminals and thugs
He didn't want revenge. Just to educate these morons and have them give of their self and time through community service. People don't try to learn about others, they judge anyone who "isn't like them and because someone appears different, they beat him up. They should be practicing compassion and caring. Life is hard. Don't make it harder for another.
The Scary Fact has 1.2 million followers and counting, all of whom share a fascination for real-life horror stories. But what exactly drives this interest?
According to Dr. Barna Donovan, the director of the MA in Communications and Public Relations at Saint Peter University, one reason can be traced back to our evolutionary roots, where our ancestors had to keep a lookout for potential danger.
“Keeping an eye out for threats, constantly imagining how deadly threats could strike, kept them alive and allowed them to reproduce,” he told Bored Panda.
“This morbid curiosity, this fascination with everything deadly, was, therefore, passed on to their offspring. Essentially, it was the survival of the ones most curious about the horrific and deadly.”
Ken Allen, the docile escape artist, was the muse for T-shirts, bumper stickers, and a song about his escapes. But he was unable to escape the B-cell lymphoma that developed at only 29yo.
Well, he did act aggressively towards Otis, who was the orangutan he kept throwing rocks at.
Even as a teenager in the late 60's, I began questioning our government's morality. Years later, when my friends began dying of AIDS, I realized the US government is made up of disgusting, greedy people who didn't give a sh!t about any of us.
Reagan is to blame for hundreds of thousands of needless deaths of beautiful people
Load More Replies...A friend and I were just discussing earlier how amazing it is that HIV and AIDS are no longer a death sentence. Modern medicine has given those who contract it a real ability to live. It's truly awesome.
AIDS has been largely preventable since they figured out what was going on, some time in the early 1980s - although not everywhere provided free needles and syringes for d**g addicts or free condoms for everyone (here in the UK, Thatcher was in power - but one of her ministers did the right thing regarding AIDS despite Maggie's backwards views on gay people). Now, there are drúgs that can stop you catching AIDS. https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/pre-exposure-prophylaxis-prep/about-pre-exposure-prophylaxis-prep/. Meanwhile, malaria continues to be a scourge. The big difference is that malaria mostly affects countries without much spare cash for medical research.
Load More Replies...Pyla, "our country"? Which country is that? My country did the right thing and did it quickly - this is the global internet.
Load More Replies...The full story is much more complicated. The equivalent photo in the UK was published in 1987. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/magazine-39490507. Some nations lagged behind - and for once, I'm not slagging off the USA.
The early AIDS patients suffered because we didn't understand how it was transmitted. We used full precautions when entering their hospital room, no d***s to treat it in the early days. These patients had little interaction with healthcare providers. It took us years to discover how the disease was transmitted, create d***s that lessened the effects of the disease and to realize it was safe to be with AIDS patients and care for them.
Fvck our Congressional members for lacking the gonads to stand up to the rabid gun lobbyists. It's their job, but they're too busy pocketing the the lobbyists' bribes to look the other way. Not their kids getting mowed down, so they don't care.
Load More Replies...What a hero. I wish the laws would be changed, even just stricter. School is supposed to be a safe space
This makes my chest hurt. I can't imagine losing my child at all, much less like this. And then to live in a country which has done f*ck all to fix the problem. I'm honestly so tired of being angry all the time at the madness and injustice here... I'm just f*cking exhausted by it all.
All you can do is cast your vote for the right people, and hope enough people cast in a similar way. Write a letter to your representative. All you can do is democracy. Then find a way to accept that the world is c**p and we have to live our own lives as best we can.
Load More Replies...That is f****d up, I hope for the mother to have a least one single peaceful night for the rest of her life. Tell me you live in the US without...
I’m so tired of the whole “guns don’t k**l people, people k**l people.” No, PEOPLE WITH GUNS k**l people. Don’t give violent people free open access to deadly a*****t weapons, give them mental health resources they need, and they’ll be much less likely to commit deadly violent crimes. It’s obviously a more complicated problem than I’m making it out to sound, but if the only country on earth with such free and easy access to guns is also the only country on earth with these kinds of problems, I can’t help but do the math.
So many people have said that this never happened. What kind of sick mind would say "Hey let's pretend that a school was shot up and children and some teachers died." It happened and parents ,family and friends lost loved ones by a man who was able to buy a gun. I'm fine with guns but not AK 47's or like them. If this man had a gun that didn't have rapid bullets shooting then some of these beautiful people could've survived. You can miss when you can just shoot one bullet at a time. Then having to reload. Think of yourself if someone shoots at you would you prefer the rapid fire guns or a 8 shooter? This is just my opinion.
We practiced fire and earthquake drills as kids, now they're practicing lockdown.
Dr. Donovan also mentioned what psychologists refer to as the “arousal jag.” In a nutshell, it’s the sensation viewers experience when tension and anxiety build up, followed by a resolution. Ultimately, he says it’s about enjoying violence and terror without the actual risk.
Santa Clara University professor and licensed psychologist Dr. Thomas Plante shared a similar statement.
“Many people are counterphobic in that they want to experience, in a safe way, what they most fear to ultimately develop mastery over it. It is a bit like flooding and exposure therapy in a safe and controllable way,” he explained.
She would choke the hitman out and say she would call paramedics if he said who sent him. He wouldn't tell and kept trying to k**l her so she did what she had to do. Her case was on the show "Who the F did I Marry?"
Not that we thought he was a good husband, but the fact that he thought she couldn't fight off a hitman and she did? Obviously the attempted mur der too. So proud of her and that man needs to go away for life, if not death
She is strong. She is invincible. She is Woman! - (with apologies to the also strong, invincible Ms. Reddy)
She afterwards said she chose to live so he couldn't do that to anyone else, and later testified against him in court despite him hissing at her that he was going to finish the job.
He was released, at some point. Then, within a very short time, killed another woman.

But why do some people steer clear of any unsettling content? What about them makes them unable to handle it? Trauma-informed clinician Dr. Laura A. Fierro says they may have a more fragile nervous system, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
However, they will still feel the effects even after reading or watching, and may prefer quieter narratives over those with more adrenaline.
“Sometimes that decision, made privately and quietly, connects to earlier abuse, deep empathy for characters in trouble, or even the shared trauma of headlines that refuse to stay in the past,” she said.
this is how they used to do it. You'd get buried, they let you decompose, then dig up your bones for your family to keep. Yorik is an example of this.
In Germany you can opt for cremation and a compostable urn, which is buried under a tree in a dedicated forest. In the Netherlands it is easy to get a permission for distributing the ashes at sea or the landscape. There are a few restrictions, like not on a public beach
My father's urn is burried in a Friedwald/burial forrest. I did not like him, but to me it's literally the way to go- unless I get a sea burial for my ashes
Load More Replies...It's acting like a sarcophagus, which literally means »flesh consumer / meat eater«......ultimately, any kind of burial will (re)turn us back into the smallest particles from which we have already emerged at some point...🤔 🤷🏽 ⚛️
I got the simplest cheapest pine coffin for my mother for exactly this reason. I don't think the funeral place ever had anybody asking about the ecological impact of coffins before, but it was important to mom (hence no big marble headstone either) and it turns out that most of their quite pretty looking coffins were...not going to degrade nicely. I think they even swapped the (brass?) screws for iron ones because they would degrade more rapidly.
Hope she’s ok. I wish Islam didn’t treat the entire female body as a gěnițal.
Islam does that? Weird, because I see many muslims who show off their bodies. Are you in an area with many muslims?
Load More Replies...Isn't the point of a hijab to cover up? Why would they tear her clothing?
Islam is the worst thing that has happened to women. GOD IS NOT PART OF THIS CARNAL CULT!!!!!
The sinful behaviour is done by the enforcers, not the female body.
People often say that “Too much of a good thing is bad.” However, does this saying also apply to consuming disturbing content? Dr. Donovan doesn’t think so, specifically when it comes to promoting aggressive behavior.
“If violent people had been shaped by the media, then the most violent criminals locked up in maximum security prisons should have been the heaviest media users among the population.”
Giving voice to Bambi or three tours in Vietnam?
Load More Replies...First movie I ever saw. My parents took me, and I remember crying when they shot his dad.
As a Marine, I find it even more incredible that his voice has such a range. When a Marine goes through training to become a drill instructor, they are taught how to speak with an empowering or big/loud voice all day, without becoming hoarse or losing their voice. To go from the 'frog in the throat' deep drill instructor voice to the voice of little Bambi is quite the feat.
It's the other way around. He went from bambi to drill instructor. He was voiced bambi as a young adult.
Load More Replies...Poor man. If you get swept away, try not to panic, and swim parallel to the beach until free of it. We lost two young people to one locally a couple of years ago.
Yep, or let it carry you, cause a rip will carry you back in
Load More Replies...My father would have stood there yelling at me to swim harder. Why do the good parents have to d I e
I live at the coast. This happens frequently, because people think the beach is the same as an indoor tropical swimming paradise. They don't read the information boards when entering the beach, and ignore swimming zones and warnings. Usually the layman rescuer, jumping in after those dragged out, dies, the other ones are saved because somebody called the professional rescuers. Each year 10 people die. You know nothing about the ocean and want to live? No floaties, no swimming in the dark, no sunset insta-photos in the water, stay within the dedicated swimming zone, stay far away from the zone without waves (this is where the water flows back) and follow all instructions of the beach guard.
Yep :( I've lived in a beach town my entire life. Just a few months ago a 15-year-old boy went swimming at night during a beach party and died in the water. We don't even have a normally super-dangerous ocean area (it's great for surfing, though) but a good many people die in my city each year for the same reasons you mentioned :(
Load More Replies...A bit of forced perspective in the picture and patently wrong information They may grow to be about a meter head to toe, so nowhere near the height of an average human. Wingspan can be twice that. A magnificently impressive animal, no doubt, so why exaggerate the size?
Exactly! It’s amazing. As well as the forced perspective there’s the fact that the guy is sitting down🤦🏼♀️.
Load More Replies...I've been eyeball-to-eyeball with an ostrich, and it was one of the scariest experiences, and up until that point there'd been plenty. Coming upon a Cassowary or a Harpy eagle would stop my heart instantaneously.
However, licensed professional counselor Katie Lear believes otherwise. According to her, children, most especially, may be subjected to trauma, especially if the story glorifies a violent individual rather than merely telling a story.
“It is possible to experience something called vicarious trauma (absorbing another person’s distressing experience) from viewing violent or disturbing things happening to others, even on a screen.”
In this I believe they say, "You're not dead until you're warm and dead."

Ok, I fully realize this is nonsense, but pause for a moment to giggle with me at the dark absurdity of this: a world where mating is so dangerous for men that instead of getting cat-called walking down the street, women get pelted with topped-up, chopped-off wieners!
Load More Replies...There's an awful lot of human females who could learn from this process.
Well, I mean they have eight legs, they could just wrap all of them around the male and squeeze really hard.
Load More Replies...Genuine curious question, I’ve always wondered this but never been able to find the answer. How does the ball stay attached to her torso? 😅
It seems obvious to me that the ball is cut and the girl's torso is inserted into the cavity. The ball stays in place because, being curved, it can "cling" to the end of the back. Or was your question meant to be ironic?

Load More Replies...Living in the state with the highest alcohol-related death rate and DUI arrests, this is an important story. I also worked as a grant manager for county DWI prevention grants. During a site visit I attended a victim impact panel, required of DWI offenders. There was a video shown where parents talked about losing their state trooper son in a head on collision with a drunk driver. The car caught fire and his fellow officers couldn't rescue him due to the ammunition in the trunk popping off. They had to watch him burn to death. I got a tissue out of my bag and the guy next to me put his hand out for one. I still cry when I think about it. When you hear the impact from victims it is life changing.
Many years ago, I worked in a bank drive-thru. One of the customers looked nearly the same as this woman. He used the drive-thru so as not to scare the customers and employees inside.
Drunk drivers should be hauled out of their vehicles and left on a gibbet at the nearest crossroads

Crazy what a human body can survive! And crazy what humans do to each other
Gaza right now is a case in point. And that includes women, children and babies, FFS.
Load More Replies...This is just plain evil! No normal human being could ever possibly justify, in any way, treating a fellow human this way. Anybody that tries to, should be locked up and never released as they represent a very clear danger to society and should never be allowed the chance to either harm others through physical or philosophical means.
This world we live in ... this one made me weep for the fact that we are still doing this to each other.
Weren't some identifiable remnants found in a forgotten alleyway years later?
Yes. Between buildings, not exactly alleys. For context: I lived in Albany NY and went to lower Manhattan the Friday before, and then a few weeks after. It was rough. Many years later, I went to the memorials at the footprints. Also rough. Nothing compared to what the survivors and first responders went through.
Load More Replies...My ex-bil, who was a plumber, was called to service an AC unit on the roof of a building about a week after a local man was killed in an explosion nearby. Also sticking something stick or finger or whatever up the dogs bung hole can really shock the dog and get it to release. But then some stay it worked for them some didn't.
Load More Replies...If a dog is attacking, grab its back legs and hold it like a wheel barrow. It is essentially completely controlled at that point.
I don't know if this is very effective considering dogs can lick their bálls, so doesn't look difficult for them to pull the legs and reach for your hand.
Load More Replies...Stats are: Kills by dogs - 65% PitBulls, 10% Rotwillers, ALL other dogs combined are only 25%. But not to have the top two anywhere near children. They are great dogs, until they arn't - and their bites K**L whereas other dogs bite and let go, these top two shake and do not let go.
Wow, I heard guys threaten to reach in and pull out your guts, but a mom with a kid to save will actually do that. Or worse if need be I bet.
You should read her book, "I Have Life". It happened near Pietermaritzburg, a city in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. She just kept on thinking she was okay - like, "I'll remember these men's faces because I'm going to testify against them." Her intestines spilling out, she got up, holding them in with one hand. Oops, she could only see the sky. "Oh, I've had my throat cut, but I need to see where I'm going." Took her other hand, grabbed her hair, and held her head so she could see where she was going. Staggered into the main road and collapsed, where she was found by a passing motorist. Doctors at the hospital rinsed her intestines, put them back, sewed up her throat wound, etc. and she made a fantastic recovery. Read her book - it's amazing.
Yes, it is an amazing story. I attended a talk she gave. What a woman!
Load More Replies...This is why I was taught it is better to die in place than any death that awaits me at the secondary location. Never let them take you. Sure, she survived, but most don't.

This was my favourite educational point when I was a mermaid entertainer- when the kids find out that humans, whales and is mermaids share knees and finger bones ❤️ it blows their minds
Load More Replies...If you look closely at most mammal skeletons, you'll find these commonalities. It's neat :)
Its why most park rangers tell hikers if you find bones in the woods that look human, they're probably not. Bear foot bones look incredibly like human hand bones
Load More Replies...I was looking at a whale skeleton at an aquarium when I suddenly realized I knew the names of the bones in the fin because I have the same bones in my arm and started naming them out loud. What I didn't know was that BIL Jimmy was standing behind me. Just like Joey on Friends, he was all heart and passion but not a lot of brains, and usually called me Brainiac. I heard a frightened gasp and turned to find Jimmy backing away, face pale, eyes wide. "The dude even knows the names of bones in a *fish!*"
I don't think I ever told him. We had a pretty good relationship.
Load More Replies...Fascinating episode of NOVA on PBS shows how some mammals like dolphins and whales lived on land with arms and legs, but evolved to live in the sea.
What they did is return to ocean to evolve further, in other words, they crawled out of the ocean took a look around and decided to return. Food supply might have been one reason. Whales eat huge amounts of krill everyday.
Load More Replies...Its only a matter of time before they sprout thumbs and then take over the world.
A lot of animals have the same/similar bone structure. Just certain parts are smaller or longer depending upon the animal.
I just realized, can’t dolphins use that structure to change their fin shapes to aid manoeuvring?
Evolution. We all crawed out of the Ocean.
Load More Replies...I mean, seriously. Who would ever suspect politicians being underhanded?
Underhanded, yes - but whoever or whatever was behind the murder of JFK, it wasn't LBJ. LBJ was a cold-hearted SOB who'd just got the top job in the world - that's all it was about.
Load More Replies...Poor Jackie. The worst day of her life and they're smiling and smirking.
It's so easy to interpret photographs in a sinister light to confirm one's prejudices. Did anybody think of a positive interpretation? Why not: here is a man suddenly and tragically thrust into a role he never seriously expected to be in (JFK was young and healthy and fully expected to live out his term) getting an encouraging wink and smile from an old friend in response to his own nervous smile as the realisation of just what he's about to take on starts to sink in. I daresay that I gave similar encouragement to my youngest brother as he stepped up to deliver the eulogy at his six-year-old daughter's funeral. Does anybody want to suggest that that implies we were involved in her dying? Or was it simple human compassion; a small gesture to reassure the other?
Book about this called The Texas Connection--at the time, it was one of the very few self-published books to crack the NYT Bestseller list (either 1991 or 92, can't remember). A lot of people thought the author was c*****d, but the more time has gone on, the more of what he wrote has been substantiated. Not all of it by any means, but enough to make ya think.
Poor Jackie looks so distraught. And these jerks literally do not even care.
Even Ladybird Johnson has a big grin, no emotional support or concern for Jackie. Shark infested waters!!!!
Load More Replies...My step-father knew him well, and until his dying day said LBJ was behind the whole thing.
A conspiracy theorist dies and goes to heaven, where he is greeted by God himself, who tells him he can ask one question. "Who killed JFK?" asks the conspiracy theorist. "Lee Harvey Oswald, and he acted alone," answers God. ""This cover-up goes all the way to the top, I guess," said the theorist.

I believe this has been confirmed by studies/statements from modern craniopagus conjoined twins such as Krista and Tatiana Hogan.
Convincing evidence that two heads are not, in fact, better than one.
The head was not fully functional, but did have some movement abilities etc, if you research it.
No they couldn't. One has a wider nasal bridge, thinner upper lip, more rounded and prominent ears, less hooded eyelids and fuller eyebrows. Very few shared characteristics other than a similar hairstyle and facial hair.
Load More Replies...they don't need to look alike to lead to false identification... similar and with a few shared features (hair style, facial hair, hair color) is enough to think you have the right one, because memory is not accurate. Especially if you only see one of them in a line up and can not compare them. that's why eye witnesses are not reliable
If I was given those two pictures to determine if they were the same person, I would confidently put a "not identical" marker on their records. If I saw them in the shop, I'd almost certainly think it was the same person.
Load More Replies...They look similar because of complexion and hairstyle, but they're nowhere near identical. The one on the left has strong, defined features with his ears close to his head. The one on the right is mousy, ears stick out a bit more. Their eyebrows are different also. I can see why someone could mix them up if they didn't pay attention, though.
Richard Amos needs to ROT IN HELL, not only for the murder, but for allowing another man to serve his sentence for so long.
They look nothing alike, though! From the hairline to the shape of the face to the features, they don't look alike at all to me.
They don't look that alike to me - remove the beards and they're to completely different people
They don’t look “nothing” alike. They look very similar, in fact. That’s not “nothing.” I’m a tiny blonde white lady, I look nothing like Shaquille O’Neal. These two men look incredibly similar, otherwise people wouldn’t have mistaken them so often.

Load More Replies...Yep, that's just a cute monitor lizard! I've got a photo of me as a kid holding one of the giant ones (his name was Duke and he was probably well over 6 feet long) at a reptile expo. Was just the calmest chill boi. This one is a bit misleading. This happened after 4 chan found out about it, and how the AI was designed to take what people were saying to it, and incorporate it into its learning. So when 4 chan flooded it with racist and homophobic slurs... well it parroted them. Grok on twitter did the same thing after a 4 chan operation.
Microsoft's aborted "Tay" project as well. The problem is there's a *lot* of right wing bullcaca and conspiracy nonsense online and AI has no ability to evaluate the truth of one statement over another, the best we can hope is that certain sources are deemed unfit for training, but given the number of bots scavenging websites, I think the prevailing attitude is to steal *everything* and worry about consequences later.

It would still theoretically be pulling from sources written by humans, and we're bástards. So I think even if it were "left alone" and not guided, it would still be consuming and subsuming the opinions of humans.

I agree. Even though he was found guilty, you still get people defending him all "well, you don't know what it'd be like in a war-zone!" No, maybe I don't. But I'm also not going to murder innocent people and then do a shooey out of their prosthetic leg.

A... fourteen year old. I always forget they don't have to be older to do things like this.
I spent a couple of months having bodycam videos and true-crime videos playing on YT while I would sit at my desk and draw. I remember one case where a 12-year-old boy was involved in a multiple-hom!cide event and had stábbed at least one of the victims to deáth himself. Judging by his interviews with detectives after the incident, he knew exactly what he was doing and WANTED to do it. I had to stop watching those videos. Some of them are way too heartbreaking - multiple families are destroyed in the end. A 12-year-old or 14-year-old child who k!lls is still a k!ller, but their families lose a child as well, so to speak. I have empathy for the families.

Also, homicide is the leading cause of death for women within a year of giving birth in the USA. Homicide accounts for only ~3% of deaths for women actively pregnant or within 42 days of birth. Homicide is also widely accepted as being unknown/unreported globally as related to pregnancy. Birth-related medical and general health causes (hemorrhage, sepsis, unsafe abortion, s*****e, etc) are still the globally dominant causes across income levels.

Morbid obesity runs in my (adoptive) family, so I'm very familiar with obesity - 200lbs for a man is NOT "fat" unless he is very short. * caveat - of course each person is different and fat deposits differently on all of us, and being overweight doesn't mean you're automatically obese or super-unhealthy, and the BMI system IS being questioned - and the taller you are, the heavier you will be, due to having literally more bone and muscle - but no, the tl;dr is that for the average male, 200lbs isn't "horrible".

Not quite accurate. Schmidt started cross-dressing at the age of 7 and it was a pattern throughout his life and also figured into the murders he committed. His parents had to keep their closets locked to keep him from stealing women’s clothing, so he resorted to getting women’s clothes from the local landfills.
