People typically frequent a bar or restaurant for two reasons: the menu items and the ambience. And if you’re entering a dining establishment for the first time, a unique vibe alone can be persuasive enough to make you want to sit down and order.
These bars and restaurants are a testament to the creativity of people when it comes to aesthetics. Through these photos, you will see how some places go above and beyond just to provide customers with an experience they likely won’t get elsewhere.

This Restaurant Shows The Wait Times For Each Dish
Everything came out way faster than stated.
That’s the trick. Give someone an expectation you know you can beat, and the person walks away happy.
Every Restaurant Should Start Doing This
In this day and age, good food and excellent service aren’t enough for a restaurant to stand out. According to a 2023 report, 89% of diners want an overall experience that includes a unique ambiance.
Similarly, 72% of restaurant-goers prefer experiential dining, which may include chef’s tables, themed events, and interactive culinary experiences.
This Bar Has Over $10000 In Dollar Bills On The Ceiling
The place is called Turtle Rock Cafe in Napa.
I talked to the owner and he said the place has been open since the 1960’s and the dollar bill thing started in the 80’s a practical joke on the original owner (current owners dad). Him and his good friend got into an argument so his friend stapled his “tip” to the ceiling.
More and more people started doing the same and it became a tradition. Every 20 years, they take down all the bills and donate the funds to charity. The last time it happened the total was $20000!

A 14th Century Medieval-Themed Tavern In Prague, Czech Republic
I've eaten at a few of these in Europe with very similar atmosphere. One in Latvia had zero electricity. And another in Budapest would not give you utensils with your meal. But they did tie a very large bib on you. Usually, they have musicians playing on old instruments, and once a fire eater.

Experiential dining is a relatively new concept that, as the name suggests, offers diners a unique experience. It could be through the atmosphere, entertainment, and interactive elements, through cooking demos or tableside interactions with the chef.
It’s important to note that experiential dining isn’t limited to eating in restaurants. According to DoorDash, it also matters when ordering online, particularly in terms of the menu's aesthetics.

Load More Replies...DoorDash notes that allowing customers to customize their orders is another key practice in experiential dining. That’s because 86% of Gen Z adults go through menu anxiety, where they are either unable to find something they like or they regret what they ordered.
Customizing orders primarily involves offering multiple options that include meat-free substitutions, as well as dishes without dairy or gluten.

Our Local Coffee Shop Uses Frozen Coffee Cubes For Iced Coffee
They hand you the cup with coffee cubes and you pour your desired flavor of hot coffee from a handful of dispensers. I drink the coffee fast enough that there are still cubes of coffee that are still melting when I'm done with my initial coffee.
I do this for my wife at home. She gets her iced coffee without watering it down.
Ultimately, restaurants and bars must prioritize creating a memorable experience for their patrons. As hospitality industry expert Peter Dougherty states, it can be done through a balance between creativity and innovation.
“To leave a lasting impression on existing customers or attract new ones, restaurants must capitalize on those details that set them apart from the competition,” he wrote.

This Awesome Restaurant In Rome Was So Tiny, You Had To Hang Your Wine Glasses
As the notice says, they are running an unlicensed restaurant. To serve food, you need a license, which comes with a bunch of health and safety regulations, periodic inspections, mandatory procedures, HACCP training, etc. Some places try to skirt this by presenting themselves as grocery stores (where on-site consumption is not allowed), going through a much less demanding process. They then set up a few tables nearby -often in the same room where they sell food- and think that’s enough to get away with it. Bad news: it isn’t. It’s common for law enforcement to shut these places down with hefty fines, usually accompanied by significant food safety violations. So yeah, don’t patronize these places.

At This Bar I Go To, The Prices Of The Beers Change Every 15 Minutes Based On Supply And Demand Inside The Bar
The prices are listed on a "stock ticker" above the bar. Randomly throughout the night, there are "stock crashes" where all the beers drop to their lowest price.
It's a gimmick that's been around for a while. I tried it only once in London, on the place that I think invented this thing, and I found it insanely irritating. When the prices drop on popular items there is a huge crowd at the bar, meaning long wait times. When they raise you know you are overpaying for stuff, and you will think twice about asking for your actual choice, maybe going for a second or third best just to avoid the ripoff. Drinks are usually already quite overpriced (doesn't seem the case for the one in photo though), so the drop is just a way for paying a beer at normal pub prices.

This Chinese Restaurant Uses Real Peanuts To Prop Up Your Chopsticks
I'm in China and I really don't know how people with allergies survive here. I worked with a Canadian fellow years ago who was deathly allergic to sesame. He had to have his epipen with him every time he went out.
Peanuts are dangerous only by ingestion. Skin contact can in the very worst cases cause light redness, and only from the actual seed, not from the shell. No, allergy does not get triggered by people eating a peanut three feet away, even in contained spaces such as airplanes. We already had this discussion and there is a wide choice of peer reviewed studies with experimental proof denying this myth, I linked them in a bunch of comments months ago (but BP search sucks).

There used to be a restaurant in our town’s old jail. You could eat in the cells for no extra charge. My idiot cousin slammed the door on his brother, “locking” him in as a joke. Except the cell door really did lock. And they had to call the owner to come in and unlock it. I say “idiot” because both cousins were in their 30s at the time.

Yesterday I Payed For Coffee With Bitcoin In Iran
I'm visiting my home country and my family since last week, and yesterday I was having a coffee in a cafe with some friends. While checking out, I saw this sign above the counter that blew my mind. It said that you could pay with Bitcoin, XRP, Doge, TRX, Litcoin, Ethereum, BitcoinCash, Monero, or ETH classic!
I asked if anyone had paid with crypto before? And they said only one. I am not a fan of paying for daily needs with crypto just yet, and I thought El Salvador accepting BTC as a legal tender was too early, but I really needed to try this, so I paid for everyone with BTC, and it was nice.
With the current inflation in Iran, which is INSANE and is estimated to be around 50 to 150% most people are converting their savings to US dollars and now crypto. 1 USD equals to 280000 Iranian Rials today. I hope crypto saves most of us.
"I hope crypto saves most of us." That might be the stupidest hope I've ever heard.
Le Train Bleu, a restaurant inside the Gare De Lyon (train station), Paris. LeTrainBle...512be9.jpg
Maybe not as spectacular as some of these restaurants, and is really common in India anyway, but not worldwide I think- plenty of Indian restaurants give you little finger bowls after eating. They’re bowls of warm water with a lemon slice in them, and really do work wonders for the smell of food on your fingers and clean them well. Besides, the warm water makes it very relaxing.
One of the coolest little restaurants I've been to is El Mesón del Champiñón in Madrid. Delicious mushroom dishes in a whimsical setting. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187514-d809698-Reviews-Meson_del_Champinon-Madrid.html
There was a gorgeous restaurant in the bay area called iChina - you could rent out private rooms that had 3D projections across the walls so you felt like you were in another space/country/etc. but their costs (not just for this experience, but even for just the food alone) was way overpriced & they closed less than 2 years after opening. As it was considered high end, the construction cost was significant, likely in the high hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, given the upscale nature of the project and its location. I get they wanted to make money, but straight up robbing your customers makes them not want to come back. We went for dimsum & only got like 3 dimsum plates & 2 entrees, our bill came out to over $150
One of the most fun restaurants I've visited was " Po Folks " in LA. All sorts of interesting stuff, and being a train enthusiast, I loved the model train which ran around the room on a track mounted high on the walls.
