Hey guys!
My name is Niek Dingemans and I go by the name of Studiomonkie. I’m a visual artist and beatboxer from Holland currently living in Sydney, Australia.
I wanted to share with you a video and some close-up shots of my latest fineliner drawing ‘Recalibration’ (1110 x 765 mm). This drawing came together over a period of roughly a year.
The idea was to use only black fineliners, draw at least an hour or two a day and keep sketching and planning to the minimum. This way the drawing had the space to develop naturally which kept the process fun and exciting and made me want to come back to it every day.
Completing this project has been an interesting journey for me. Whilst drawing, you tend to reflect on your life or float into the weirdest abstract daydreams.
It’s good fun, I can recommend anyone to get a piece of paper and get some lines down, just for that very purpose. The daydreams.
