“Music is the language of the soul”.

To me, photography is more than taking pictures. I can add my passions , my experiences, the lessons I’ve learned, the feelings I’ve been through, into my work. Technical skills also matter obviously. But I think what comes from personal experience brings this little “something more” to any creation. For this series, I’m sharing my passion for music.

Music makes us develop feelings and carries them through notes and rhythm. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful things that ever exist on Earth. Yet, we can’t see music. We can listen to it. Or feel it.

In those difficult times I think it’s essential to connect with positive things that are around you, like music. Sometimes, you don’t even notice them anymore because you’re just used to them, they’re around you all the time. Like a hedonic treadmill.

This series is mostly a tribute to an art that helped me go through so many tough situations. Like a friend which always sounded right. So my goal is to show its invisible (to the eye) power. It kind of echoes to the Little Prince of Saint Exupery’s famous quote : “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

As for the technical part, these pictures have been made with a DSLR camera mounted on a tripod. They’re all one exposure frames and no software has been used to create the light effects. The technique is called lightpainting. I used Lightroom and Photoshop to adjust colors, exposure, contrast.
