I live in Scotland, where the weather can change from moment to moment. I’ve always painted traditionally using oil on canvas, but this surface can be too still, too solid. One day I noticed the piece of scrap metal I was using as a palette looked more atmospheric than the work on my canvas.
By painting landscapes on aluminium and copper, my artworks now change in different light; just like the landscape and the weather!
