I started creating original embroidery pieces after becoming bored with the confines of sticking to the designs others had created. Instead of changing mediums I started designing my own pieces and fell in love the process.
In this series I observed the changes brought about by the arrival of fall and how the season manifests itself in the environment. The changing of color in the leaves, plants producing their seeds ready to grow come spring, caterpillars retreating into their chrysalis’s to perform their transformation. I work hard to layer and blend the stitches until I achieve realism within my botanical pieces. It’s a very slow process but I love it.
