I Am A Pinup Photographer And I Love Empowering Women By Showing Them Their Real Beauty (17 Pics)
I was a Combat Medic in the US Army for 8 years. After getting out, my husband was transferred to Hawaii where we spent almost 6 years. I was frustrated with seeing military-inspired pin-ups with mix-matched uniforms, improper hand salutes, and... I told my husband I could do better and he encouraged me to do so, that was in 2007. Since then I have been perfecting my lighting, computer skills, and most importantly, the customer experience!

I have a friend of mine who LOVES "large" women. He was the drummer in a few bands and always had hot women after him. Then one day he starts telling us about the love of his life. Just went on about her for about 2 weeks before he brought her to rehearsal at the club. She was very pretty, beautiful blonde hair and built like a refrigerator. Sweetest girl you ever met. We all loved her immediately. she was very shy and probably worried about the fact we had two female lead singers who were knockouts, but they made her feel like she had been with Dale for years. Got to talking about girl stuff at the table and Dale had his arm around her with the look of "Look out guys she is aken and all mine." He was IN love. They were still together 15 years later when I last saw them. She came t the gigs at the club and our girlfriends took her right in with them. She was just so nice and sweet.. She could roll a joint that was perfect. The above was just up his alley. Different strokes....

I wanted to say the the same but I guess they knew we only existed as maids and prostitutes in there eyes. No Dorthey Dandridge or Joesphine Bakers or Lena Hornes.. and if there are why did you not add some in your collection?

I have two friends who would get sprung at most of these girls. Both are married to big girls as well. Like I said in a comment Different strokes for different folks.

Load More Replies... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We have this saying because everyone sees beauty in different ways. It doesn't mean one person's opinion is right or wrong. Somewhere along the way, we as a society have forgotten that individuals are entitled to their own opinions.
Serious question: Has your studio ever photographed women in their 60s? Having read the comments about the models, I'm wondering whether we're looking at a self-selected group.
These are not models, except one on here. There all moms, wives, etc... The picture with the 4 women, all of them just turned 50 and came in for a session, so yes, I do get a wife age range.

Love, Love, Love these! I’ve always felt like I was born in the wrong era and usually gravitate towards pinup. I love the fashion and beauty but you know how to capture the spirit. We’ll done!
Loved that you used some curvy thick body types, and they look beautiful! One small thought, would be great if we didn't think women had to wear spike heels and tight clothing to be beautiful.
Ah yes, the "fit fat" with big hips and boobs but flat stomachs and smooth faces.
You gotta love when someone says "I empower women by showing them their true beauty" and then they only show photos of women who are traditionally beautiful... I thought this was gonna be a nice, feel good post :/

I've stood model in front of the camera a couple of times and being a woman I feel very empowered to see my feminine side reflected in pictures (not for the PO by the way, I have a friend who is an artist). I'm not a tomboy. I'm not non-binary. I'm a cisgender woman who is proud to be a woman and I embrace my femininity. I've done pin-up, I've done boudoir, I've even done nude (in styles like the nude paintings of old, very romantic, not vulgar poses). If you see these kind of styles as sexualizing, the problem is with your brain. Because for the artist, the models and those who appreciate this it's art not porn, sensual not sexual. And I speak from experience that these kind of styles are absolutely empowering for those who model. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But so is sexualization. So if you see these pictures as sexualizing, it's your eye that's the problem, not the style. And what is far from empowering are comments of people who feel they should dictate what people should and shouldn't like, what people should and shouldn't wear. What photography styles should and shouldn't be considered empowering. I think you missed that part of the lecture in your ethics class too, that people have different tastes, different interests, and that you should respect that.
