Overprotective Woman’s List Of Rules Before Allowing Husband To Go To A Bachelor Party Goes Viral

One woman has given new meaning to the term ‘overprotective.’ Recently, a concerned wife turned to Facebook to share a bizarre set of rules she insisted her husband follows if he wanted to attend a bachelor party. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with trying to keep your partner out of trouble. There is, however, something very, very ridiculous about grown-up men being forced to party under conditions that would make a primary school disco look like Las Vegas. Yeah, that’s right, the woman not only demanded her husband follow the rules but his friends who attended the bachelor party as well.

Naturally, people on Facebook expressed their concerns for the poor guy’s sake. And to the lady’s credit, she did hear them out. Heck, she even realized that she had no control over men. So, she did the only thing she could — she forbade her husband from going to the party in the first place.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties are a time-honored tradition. They usually involve a wild night out sometime shortly before getting married. These last moments of “freedom” can be controversial, especially since the stereotypical bachelor party is all about hard partying and strippers. Of course, that doesn’t mean that every bachelor or bachelorette party is pure infidelity. Plenty of men and women have low-key get-togethers to mark their last days of being a bachelor/bachelorette.

Interestingly,  like many modern things, the concept of this occasion is traced back to ancient Greece, as early as the 5th century B.C. According to TIME, it is believed that the ancient Spartans were the first to make a celebration out of the groom’s last night as a single man. Spartan soldiers held a dinner to honor their friend and made toasts on his behalf — with, one assumes, a Spartan sense of decorum. Since then, however, this event has become wilder.

People had a lot to say about these ridiculous demands

A neighbour of mine isn't allowed to watch the odd football match in the house - even on a TV not being used by his wife. Some people just love to control. Sad.

Ok, this is why religious people/religion, in general, get a bad rap. Don't blame it on Christianity because you want to control your husband. Get over yourself.

Agreed. There is nothing about being a Christian couple that says..well, ANY of this. From either spouse (although some may misinterpret portions of the bible to say "ownership" is involved), this is plain abusive. Maybe not physically, but it traps the other and forces dishonesty.

Who needs trust and friendship when you cna have total control? I recommend an implanted GPS tracker with an automatic electro shocker to deal shocks when swearing.

She had 2 simple options: 1. Go with her husband, carry a whistle and monitor the party like a referee. 2. Make them have the bachelors party at Chuck-E-Cheese 😁😁

I've spent decades working with women and children (and some men) affected by domestic violence. Just because there is no physical violence mentioned here does not make this okay. This IS abuse and there is nothing funny or amusing about it. The need to control to this degree is the mark of sickness. Emotional abuse is as harmful as physical abuse and does a great deal of damage. Her need to control reflects on her lack of trust and ability to accept her husband as a separate individual capable of making his own choices. If the tables were turned and this was a man doing this to a woman, I suspect most people here would see this as abuse.

This is not what a Christian marriage should look like. I'm in a Christian marriage and I trust my husband not to do certain things. I don't need to tell him because we share the same views and we have a very close friendship.

I've spent decades working with women and children (and a few men) affected by domestic violence. Here's the thing with all of this: This is abuse! If a man was ordering his wife in this manner, we would recognize him as controlling and his behavior as abusive. Emotional abuse is violence. Just because you don't have bruises does not negate the impact of this type abuse. For any partner to be this controlling is beyond unhealthy and well into sickness. This has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with lack of trust and a very unhealthy relationship. There is nothing funny or amusing here.

If this is true, I have one...ok many things I could say. First, my wife and I are a Christian family, and neither she nor I would EVER impose such ridiculous garbage on a simple outing. This is showing plain stupidity, and lack of respect for each other. If my wife did this (and I know for a fact that she would not, it is called trust) it would be over simply because to get to that point means we have already lost everything else. I disagree with divorce, but I married my best friend, my better half, my confidant. She knows what I would and would not do, and accepts it. Just as I do her. so my parting comment here: I sure hope that this is attention getting and fake. Otherwise some people here would need some serious help.

This c**p was funny back when it seemed genuine, now it seems people are just being extremely obnoxious or especially friendly, just trying to go viral. The only good thing about this "trend" is that people are trying to find animals to save, so they can film it hoping to go viral. Also, if this was a ironic twist on an "overprotective groom", which I would totally understand and support, it's done badly.

Yeah, another post that is so wrong on so many levels. First of all, you don't get to "allow" your husband to do anything. He's a f*****g adult - which is how you discuss things - like adults. If you don't trust your husband to go to a bachelor party without a) getting drunk, b) taking drugs or c) having sex with a stripper you have a lot more problems than just your overbearing control issues. Seek therapy, like now.

If this is true... and I am not saying it is... this would be a classic example of spousal abuse. Imagine if a man did this to his wife, the prison time would be measured in life times, and rightfully so. So either this is completely false, and a joke, or this man is in serious trouble and needs friends to go over, do an intervention, get his a*s out of there, and put him into the witness protection program.

I have met women (and some men) like this. I asked an ex-friend of mine when she stipulated all these rules on her (and my) husband going on a camping/fishing trip. Now this is in the middle of nowhere Australia so I didn't think rules were necessary (other than don't die. Australia is isolated to extreme). Before they left she told me the rules and I said 'why do want to act like a mother and not a lover?' She said 'men need to be controlled'. OUr husbands returned and I am glad to say we moved and therefor just drifted apart naturally. But I have never understood a woman who wants to baby/mother a man. Over 15 years later and been with my forever partner/lover/best friend for 9 years. And don't have toxic behaving women in my life anymore and couldn't be happier. This lady is extremely insecure and I feel sorry for her.

I hope her hubby said F**k you and went, tuned his phone off, drank some alcohol, smoked a cigar or two, gambled away their life savings, hung out with strippers, drove a fast car (before drinking) and had a ball! I'm thinking that if her husband "play wrestles" with other men enough for her to mention it that he's not likely to be tempted by (female) strippers. Closets may be involved here and she subconsciously realizes it.

My next door neighbours have a relationship like this, the husband is not "allowed" to speak to my husband while they are both cutting the grass, if her husband breaks the "rule" she makes his life hell, all day everyday, we can hear it all. I believe the husband is being mistreated, but not sure how to help, the whole street talks about them and what an awful situation it is.

I know I am answering your question late, but if you feel that the husband is being mistreated, you have every right to speak up in his defense and ask her what her problem is. Depending on their ages, you can also contact Adult Protective Services and tell them what's going on. Have some of your neighbors back you up.

She is a pathetic excuse for a woman, wife & Christian. I agree with most here that she's delusional & obviously doesn't trust him. He should either defy her & go to bachelor party anyway, get into counseling without a doubt, & be looking at the door. I want to upvote the post to get more people seeing it, but I also want to downvote it because I'm horrified at the thought that she'd go higher in thinking it was approval of her thoughts/actions!! WAY DISAPPROVE!!

Lmao no way is this real. But I guess if they were religious freaks, it would make sense for them. Hey if it’s real and this is normal for their relationship then who cares? Religious people should follow their own rules, f**k it. For normal people, this would be extremely weird.

Where did it say they are Christians? I'm a Christian and would never put that nonsense on my husband. Love how people like to attack Christianity even when its not mentioned. Also as to telling people how to live there own lives, I was taught not to cast the first stone. Judging is a no no, but plenty people do, even non Christians, putting all of us in big old judgemental pile.

There are so many movies for bachelor parties went wrong. Many ppl say that night is meant to officially get drunk, while strippers dance on your crotch and is a legitamete excuse to cheat with another woman "for last time". Many of the other guys on those parties are already married but use it to excuse hard drinking, strippers and whores. If there was nothing true those shits happen why so many movies show exactly this, why so many women expect and fear exactly this? I don't like this tradition too, it's lame and only was born in us, but other countries also started it, to evaluate profanity by us example.

Most guys don’t even go to strip clubs for their party. And most strip clubs dont allow actual sex. I know both because I was a stripper. If men touched beyond a handshake, they’d be thrown out. It would be weird if a guy went hooker hunting for another guy. Guys don’t do this s**t. They may go to a bar and have some shots with random chicks, party a little, smoke cigars, do something expensive like a party boat or party bus, and basically just bro out all night and drink with some women who are in the same bar. Even bachelors who come into strip clubs aren’t that bad, they look for a while and ask funny questions and get drunk. Most men love their fiancé and aren’t about to cheat just before they marry her.

Agreed. There is nothing about being a Christian couple that says..well, ANY of this. From either spouse (although some may misinterpret portions of the bible to say "ownership" is involved), this is plain abusive. Maybe not physically, but it traps the other and forces dishonesty.

Please don't let this woman (with problems rooted in herself - not her religion) sway your opinion on the religion. I hope people won't hate Christianity because someone misrepresented it.

Thank you for saying this because there are people who think religious people are weird for reasons like this.

Apparently this woman has never heard of the Ten Commandments or else believes we need a hundred or so (and she's going to write them).

I'm picturing this woman as Gladys Kravitz. She's not overprotective, she's delusional and a little crazy.

Why would she want to marry someone she thinks is too stupid to go to the bathroom by himself? He needs to RUN away from her. Thankfully, the wedding hasn’t happened yet....
