How would you like to get 32,000 USD for taking care of pandas all day? It sounds too good to be true, but panda caretaker is a real job in China, at the Giant Panda Protection and Research Center.
“Your work has only one mission,” reports China Daily. “Spending 365 days with the pandas and sharing in their joys and sorrows. You need perseverance for this job. We expect that the applicants will be mainly white-collar workers from big cities. They are used to eating whatever they want, but inside the giant panda base, the choices will not be plentiful.”

I love how everyone's going on about how great this job is and how a few comments mention how she isn't even enjoying it but I have to wonder how many of these people noticed the job specifically says work 365 days a year... So yes this job pays well and is probably awesome, get to be outside, play with fun playful little animals, but you also have to spend all day wearing full protective gear (really i think it would be the face mask that might bug me). There would be no days off or weekends. and you have extremely limited options. again not something that would probably bug me personally but I know many that it would. also a portion of your income would not only go to whatever taxes they have there but also have to pay for your visa and traveling. for renewal and if you come back to the us then they still want you to pay taxes on any income you made. . but ultimately it's the thought of having no days off that would keep me from applying... one day every other week is necessary...

Is it only me or the woman does not enjoy it a bit? Not a trace of care! Maybe she is already stressed out? LOL As in any other regular job Caress them like you mean it! I'd squeeze them and rub my face on them

The source article appears to be from 2014. And, the job closed in July of that year, best I can tell. Also, the woman in the video appears to a volunteer, though it never really says, but she's definitely not the person getting paid 32k, as the vid was first posted in February of 2014, before the job, which was more of a PR stunt for China and the sanctuary than an actual job in need of a qualified applicant, was filled.

Please take me away from my dreadful white collar job. This job is what I always wanted to do in life, caring for animals, working as part of a team in an animal preservation or rescue project.

I saw the Nat Geo programme today about this wonderful operation to restore the wild panda population. The young lady featured here was nearly killed in an earthquake that destroyed a major facility and killed some of her colleagues ans her charges.

That would be hard on the backside, as well as on the ears. She needs some playground equipment to keep them occupied and interacting.
