No 14, the Emergency fund thing, is completely arbitrary. I mean, I don't mind that it's only relevant for the US and other socially-backward countries, but who is defining such things and why did they pick on that length of time?

I think it has to do with the average time it takes to find a job, get situations under control, etc, etc. I'm in Canada and I've hear financial professionals mention people should have 2 years worth of savings. It's not realistic for a lot of people. Even 6 months is not possible for the low and medium low earners.

Yeah, I thought that too, but there can be some shrinkage - we've all had that feeling of freshly-laundered Jeans being too tight until you've worn them a few times, haven't we? Yeah, it's more about them stretching but the wash can kinda 'undo' the stretch.

Q4: you only need to try a jump-start if the engine is turning over slowly or not at all. There are myriad reasons that a car won't start that don't involve a low battery.

I pushed the car down a hill and got the engine started, Thought the battery had given up (it was 12y old battery...) but was the starter.. 😸

Laundry symbols are not universal worldwide. A property lease in the UK is not the same thing as in the USA.

    7. Well, you should wash your hand first too... 8. Also worth noting, using bleach in the toilet can be risky. If you're cleaning a toilet with caked on urine you can create a very dangerous chemical reaction. Hopefully you don't have to clean an especially gross toilet but it's worth knowing if you ever have to.

Using bleach in dish soap is also dangerous, too. There should have been an option for nothing. Don't mix bleach with anything.

#14, *at least* six months. What would be the problem with having an emergency fund that was viable for more than six months? ..... #15, I haven't had a washing machine with a user-accessible filter for over thirty years, and have never heard of one that needed to be drained monthly. I don't think we have that kind of machine here in the U.S. Certainly not here at my very new laundry machines at my apartment complex in California. The washing machines have self-cleaning and self-draining filter and pump mechanisms. The dryers do have lint filters that need to be cleaned once per load.

You can clearly be an adult without being good at 'adulting'. Yes, I know it's not a proper verb but that's what kids these days are calling it...

The washing machine question only pertains to front loaders. Newer top loaders (after 2001 and top loaders are by far the most common) don't require the filter drain and clean referenced in the question.
