65 Times Parents Vented On Social Media But Instead Amused People Online (August Edition)
Kids move according to their own logic. They believe Mom and Dad have supernatural abilities to fix anything and know where everything in the house is. They can burst into tears because of the uncut bread crusts on their PB&J. They may even ask a brutally honest question that may leave all the adults in the room flabbergasted.
And as a result, moments of comedy gold may ensue. Here are some examples, as shared by the parents themselves. You may sense a bit of exhaustion and frustration in their posts, but you can also sense the fulfillment they have in raising a child.
If you’re planning to have kids, these posts should clue you in on what to expect.

Many parents may struggle to understand their young kids, especially when they act out. As a result, they may lose their patience trying to deal with these “annoying behaviors.”
However, experts say that these “bad things” that kids do are actually signs of good parenting. One of them, believe it or not, is when a child says they “hate” you or that you’re the “worst parent.”
As clinical psychologist Dr. Becky Kennedy tells Good Housekeeping, when a child vocalizes strong emotions instead of internalizing them, they believe their parents can handle their big feelings.
“Kids say this when they're flooded and can't access their words for the real feeling underneath, usually hurt, disappointment, or feeling unheard,” Dr. Kennedy said. “A kid who's terrified of their parent's reaction doesn't risk saying this.”
Mom and my uncle got into a fight on Thanksgiving. That Christmas, my brothers and I got tin drums from him.
My sleep schedule has changed to where I''m asleep when they're at school and awake all night while they sleep. I think my chemo meds messed me up. Anyway, I don't know whether to be grateful or feel bad. I mean, we interact in the morning before school and in the evening. They're teenagers though. I think my presence annoys them anyway.
A child arguing against limits set by their parents may seem like spoiled-brat behavior. However, Dr. Kennedy says it can also show trust and even a belief that the relationship survives their worst moments.
“If your child calmly accepted it and walked away? That might mean they're complying from fear, not learning to tolerate disappointment,” she explained.
I feel for you. My twins used to sit right outside the door when I went to the bathroom.
Many people who post their child-rearing anecdotes in a humorous way fit the definition of “fun parents.” They’re the ones who embrace their playful sides and would likely let go of rigid rules to enjoy the moment with their kids.
While being the fun parent may seem like a good idea, experts say it also has some downsides. According to clinical psychologist Dr. Tamar Kahane, the problem may arise between the couple.
Speaking with Parents.com, Dr. Kahane says the failure to establish and maintain boundaries may lead to friction.
“When one parent struggles to maintain boundaries, it leaves the other parent feeling like the police officer, frustrated and alone in their parental role,” she said.
There are many ways to be a fun-loving parent without straining the relationship. Dr. Kahane says it can be as simple as bonding with the child through an activity like baking, reading silly books, or listening to music.
But her biggest piece of advice is to let the child lead playtime and immerse yourself in their world.
“Take a moment to carefully listen and observe as you enter their world of play. Ask them to assign you a role or just narrate their play rather than directing it,” Dr. Kahane said.
I mean... all A's and one very logical comment? That is an absolute win in my book.
The second of my babies just entered her 30s. You will miss these days. I promise you
Has he at least been told about the Bermuda Triangle, and piranhas?

My son has memorised how many points each letter is worth in scrabble so now just tells me how much in scrabble random words are. For example Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis scores 68. He memorised that word by repeatedly watching Sonic 3. Autism does bring some truly unexpected skills.
