I caught some carpenter ant queens a couple summers ago. One of them escaped in my apartment... I'd be concerned, but the place is being torn down next year so meh.

These ants are camponotus modoc, they generally are a dirt nesting species of carpenter ant, so I am not worried about them nesting in my house.

These queens have no workers, they have enough food stored in their bodies to raise the first generation of workers. I catch the queens when the leave the colony to start their own colony, I supply them with water and a dark nesting space to raise her babies.

My mom carries a flashlight in her pocket. I thought that was cool. So now I carry one in my pocket. I don't care that my phone has a light on the back of it, I have a flashlight.

Well since it's clear that it's never going to let me upload, I'll just mention it: I have 2 of the weirdest NES controller ever made, called the Quickshot. Quite how anyone thought that making a giant disc for the D-pad occupy 75% of the controller was a good idea is beyond me!

I bought a plush uterus after I got my hysterectomy. Also bought a plush cancer cell (from the same place) and attached it to the uterus with a safety pin, as that's basically why I had a hysterectomy. I find it hilarious. It seems to make others uncomfortable. I also find that rather amusing too.

a couple of things: all of my dogs that have passed are in urns. not dog related urns but the kind you get for people. they sit on the top of my shelves with their collars on them. since i am getting to be an old fart i have thought about what will happen to them when i go. so, i told my son if he cremates my happy a**e then he can just mix them all together and go scatter us somewhere. if he plants me then place them at my feet/on my feet because that is where they always were if not on my lap.

the other thing is a collection of the 7 japanese god/goddess. not that it is unusual except for the fact that they are extremely old and made out of ivory which, i assume, was before the ban on ivory was implemented. i keep them for sentimental purposed due to who gave them to me.

I enjoy having strange things. I have a lunchbox with an old syphilis ad printed on each side. (A lunchbox reading: Syphilis: who have YOU exposed?) I have the demo oxygen mask from plane safety demonstrations. A hideously ugly monkey on a surfboard bank that I bought in Tijuana for $3. (That could be a San Diego thing.) I have a vase I bought at an art show that has a dude in a sparkly suit on one side and on the other, same dude in y-fronts. (I display the y-front side.) Vials of cat whiskers separated by cat. Some really bizarre artwork. My mother's wedding dress and veil--it's strange because I've never wanted to get married but somehow I can't part with it. I will probably paint it one day.
