The Ancient Water-Reservoir Under Istanbul In Turkey
Fields Of Cows With Bells In The Swiss Mountains
This reminds me of Nancy Holten, who was denied Swiss citizenship because of her complaints about the cowbells.
Gustave Mahler, the composer, went to the Alps to compose, and asked that the bells be removed so he could write in peace and quiet.

Abu Simbel. No Banana For Size, But Check Out The Tiny People At The Bottom
The temple, originally all set in the surrounding rock, is very impressive with its main staues being more than 20 meters tall. Which is even more impressive is that during the construction of the Nasser Reservoire, the whole temple was taken apart in 1963 and re-assembled about 60 meters higher to prevent it from it being flooded. The "rock" it is set in now is artificial, mainly a steel dome camouflaged with sand and rock, but the temple itself is still the 3000 year old original.
Yes! The engineers who moved Abu Simbel did a great job. They made sure to keep Abu Simbel aligned so that twice a year, sunlight reaches all the way to the back of an 18 meter (59 foot) hall and shines on statues of Amun, Ra, and pharaoh Ramses II, the guy who commissioned the temple. I was blown away by this place.

I know it's not the best way and they did defaced the rock, but it's actually written a message to people stop to climb on the coconut tree because it was damaging the tree. After they wrote in a wooden plate the message.

The Black Hills Of South Dakota! I Haven't Been To Many Places, But This Is Probably The Coolest.
I'm pretty sure I claimed pretty high to take this picture lol.
I was six when we moved to North Dakota. A hillside in sight of the house had burned recently and I thought that was the black hills. It was a hill. It was black.

Stonehenge
I got there in 1971 or 2, before the barriers went up to keep you from going out among the stones. Also, I walked out from Amesbury, and as I got closer, and saw it getting bigger and bigger as I came: absolutely amazing.

well my dad went to alaska up north and its like amazing we stood by the frozen ocean in a blizzard its lovely but freezing cold
The top of El Castillo in Chichen Itza. You used to be able to climb the steps to the top and explore. Went back with my stepkids and it was permanently cordoned off.
Unfortunately, it's necessary to limit the number of visitors everywhere so as to preserve the monuments and natural areas.
