Hey Pandas, What’s Something Someone Did Or Said Recently That Made You Think, ‘Seriously’? (Closed)
Last night, my two oldest children were complaining about AI and its effect on society. My oldest said "I hate AI!" and while I agree with her, I couldn't help but say "Lost Panda Jr., you use AI everyday." She turns, looks at me, and states "I never use AI!" Now, the part that made me think 'seriously?!' was not two minutes after saying this she utters the phrase "Siri, turn on low power mode." I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh. So, what about you?

A country elected a president who sent a mob to attack his own capital when he lost a previous election. He'd also created slate of fake electors to try and steal that election. Seriously?
I have no words....why would a democratic country knowingly vote in a dictator and proven liar?
Their are a LOT of really dumb people in the USA. Not all of them are morons but about half are really stupid.
Agreed. Have you seen the ones who are just now realizing THEY are the ones going to be paying extra because of the tariffs the orange monkey wants to put on other countries? "But I thought other countries paid the tariffs!" they're screaming. Too late, you voted the idiot into office. Now live with it. They're unhappy prices are already so high and then they vote in a clown who's going to give all his billionaire friends more tax cuts and then hike taxes on everyone else in addition to making things more expensive for people with his tariffs. Make it make sense.

Get used to it. A lot of us are going to be asking ourselves the same thing, every day for the next 4 years. And sometimes more than once a day.
Load More Replies...They actually believe they are immune to his insane politics
Load More Replies...The problem is, there are likely more parties in the election no one hears much of because only the 2 popular ones steal the thunder. But if people start paying attention to the other parties, and vote for those, then you'll bring democracy back to your country. It will let your leaders know there's more than one other competing. There could be someone much more suited for the role that's been passed on for the popular parties.
1) Upping the volume of copy-pasted reddit threads.
2) Drastically increasing pop-up ads
3) Going to a subscription tier.
4) All within the last couple months.
Seriously???
Turning an upbeat site with an international, generally optimistic world view into a Premium savagely unhinged rancid tabloid with narrow US-centric negative hyperbolic sensationalism.
I did, on here, get a reply to one of my comments going "Are you not from the States or do you live under a rock?" Totally unnecessary and rude for one. Completely unhinged, for sure. Very narrow, USA centric mentality.
Load More Replies...I still love BP and I am one of the rare users who enjoys Reddit reposts (probably because Reddit is blocked on my Google), but I agree some of the changes they're making are stupid. Like the whole subscription thing. Why? Just why?
wtf does "Reddit is blocked on my google" mean? Do you not understand what a url is?
Load More Replies...Well, they had to do *something* to top their previous "let's censor even the most innocuous of words" policy.
People backing the guy (Luigi) that shot the United Healthcare CEO because he's " Hot". If they can prove he did this he needs to go to jail. I understand having issues with health insurance, I have had themself but thinking he should be aquitted of murder because he is " Hot" is next level. I see how Ted Bundy lured people. Yikes
There not asking to have him acquitted because he’s hot, they’re just praising his actions because he did the world a public service
Amen. If all he did was get people talking about this issue, that alone would be worth it.
Load More Replies...I haven't heard anybody backing him because he is "hot". Not one single person. People are backing him because he killed a vulture who fed out of people's misery and desperation. Yes, killing is wrong. But making millions out of people's suffering is wrong, too.
The only victim is Mangione, denied health care that he paid for and lives in chronic pain. Thompson's death was his own fault.
In response to mass murder for profit? I disagree.
Load More Replies...The entire it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission mentality. My DIL says this & she is almost 40.Grow up & be a responsible adult
In some situations it's not a bad plan. For example, there have been times when I wanted to do something at work that I didn't think would be an issue if I just went ahead and did it, but if I asked for permission first there was a good chance I wouldn't get it. It boils down to balancing risks, and being willing to accept the consequences if you were wrong.
Some guy close to JFK in the United States is trying to get the FDA to revoke approval for the polio vaccine. I mean, it's so insane, that there are no words, really.
I meant RFK, not JFK, but I when I realized, I wasn't able to edit this.
“Some guy close to JFK”: Uh, JFK is dead and I have NO idea what the airport hasta do with the FDA or polio, and I’m only on item seven and I’m throwing my hands up. Seriously, Pandas? This is the best you can do? I’ve held out hope because there’re a half-dozen or so interesting pandas who contribute useful things, but it’s slowly dawning on me that that’s not nearly enough. 😞
I meant RFK, but I wasn't able to edit it. Don't you follow the news? If you did, you'd have realized it was just a typo on my part.
Load More Replies...I recently heard someone claim they couldn't be held responsible for something they did unless they admitted they did it intentionally.
Welp. Hope they don't mess up too bad. A judge will give them a lesson of their lifetime.
Sadly, this statement was made in the context of making a mess and not cleaning it up...by an adult and not as a "joke".😒
Thought that taking a screenshot and sending it to me would show the huge CRACK IN HIS (phone) SCREEN 🤪
LOL Why do I feel like I have done something like that? (Rhetorical question.)
One of my colleagues, Lucy, has an identical twin, Kate. One day Kate visited her sister at work, and Lucy said something like: Happy Saint's Day! (We, in Czech, celebrate our name days.)
So I figured that today's saint patron is Catherine, and after a while I asked: "Lucy, if today's saint's day is Kate, and you're identical twins, it's your saint's day too, LUCY?"
So she spent about one endless minute expaing me that this is not how twins work, and when she got to the point that they share the same birthday, but not the saint's day, I finally could wonder: "Seriously?"
every day have a name assosiated with it. You can google yours. So they have the same birthday, but they obvioulsy have different names, so thir namedays are different (?)
My aunt and uncle are twins. One is St Helena's day and the other is St George's.
Load More Replies...Oooh, I get it. So the name day may not coincide with the day of the birth, but when the child was named. Perhaps their mom named them on different days, and maybe on purpose for this reason.
When the current Kennedy ran for office and the press adressed the fact that he had brainworms in the past, the communication coordinator said something to the effect that it was irrelevant that Kennedy had pieces of his brain eaten, because the other kandidates where really old.
I'm a substitute teacher. I think "Seriously?" whenever a student doesn't come to class with a pencil. One of my sayings is "School 101 kids, bring a pencil to class every day!"
I grew up poor in an incredibly abusive home. I never had school supplies. Maybe consider scenarios like this when complaining and comparing with others
Wanted to add: I keep plenty of pencils in my sub bag. I never ask for them back cause another teacher might lose their cool over something this minor! The older kids know better. I was a dirt poor country kid, but still had school supplies. I'm talking about those who would rather buy designer clothes and shoes over basic school supplies.
I forgot this is not a thread of Reddit and Quora stuff. Sorry. No offence. I'm just saying. Forgetting stuff happens to the best of us.
Load More Replies...When my brother- in- law caught covid, my now departed MIL tried multiple times to find lodging for HERSELF so darling BIL wouldn't have to leave their home (they lived together). First she tried to go stay in her niece's home so she could "spend time" with her senile sister, who was being cared for by the niece. She hadn't seen or spoken to her in at least 2 years, even though they lived in the same town. Next, she wanted to go stay with MY sister, whom she barely knew ("it's family, she won't mind"). And then to top it off, she wanted me to go stay with my next door neighbor, whom she disliked intensly, for no good reason, so she could stay with MY family. When my husband told her that this wasn't going to happen because it was a ludicrous idea and also because she had been a such a b***h to me behind his back, her response was "then it would be good time for the two of us to mend fences". He saw right through that and told her no way. She was foiled at every turn. Finally, my husband made my dumbasss BIL get a hotel room, but it was a uphill battle to get him there. In the meantime, with all the bullshiit back and forth for a whole two days, asss face BIL infected her. Can't say I felt bad for either of them.
Sorry for the length of this. Nothing my MIL ever did was explainable in a few sentences. Plus, I don't journal - BP (sometimes) tends to stand in as my diary.
Uh... BiL should have stayed home with his deadly infectious disease. Dumbass MiL was the one who should have gone to a hotel.
He did stay home. MIL was trying to find accommodation.
Load More Replies...If someone prays to a god of some description for relief from a trauma of some kind, was it not the god who caused the trauma in the first place?
Perhaps "god" didn't cause the trauma, but did nothing to prevent it, either. If he is truly almighty, it means he doesn't care. Or he is not so almighty and can't do it. You can't have your cake and eat it. It's one way or the other.
Load More Replies... It's a small annoyance compared to others' problems, but:
Just yesterday, I went shopping for a new tablet, a specific model (metal case, not plastic) with high end specs. They had none in stock, I said, "No problem, how long will it take to order one?" and they told me it would take a week.
Then they asked for money.
"Excuse me?" I said.
"You have to pay up front before we order."
Like hell, as I told him. I took my business elsewhere. Definitely getting a negative review.
Predictably, the incompetent display their ignorance and talk instead of thinking. It was a chain department store, one of several branches. The item was regular stock, and is currently on sale. They sold out. I asked for a raincheck. But of course, the incompetent and ill-educated won't admit they screwed up.
Predictably, someone doesn't post enough information, and then gets all butt hurt when people respond accordingly.
