Oh my! Good thing it was just one? That skin is relentless. Nice to stab it a bunch with a fork or knife and inject some olive oil into it. Aletrnatively, cut it in half and slice up the flesh checkered-stlye without going through the skin (like a mango or avocado). Season with olive oil, salt and pepper then bake or fry it face down.

My husband loves bourbon chicken so before we got married I got the bright idea to make it for him. I found an easy crockpot recipe so I got all the ingredients and then hit the ABC store to get the bourbon. I'm looking for the right & most affordable bourbon when I see "apple bourbon". I'm an "adventurous cook" so I was like sure, what the hell, why not. So I add everything to the pot and decide hey, let's add twice the amount of alcohol! Make it extra bourbony. Dinner time comes around and I surprise him with what I had made for us. He grabs some plates and gets a large serving of the chicken for each of us. Long story short and moral of the story. DO NOT ADD TWICE OR MORE OF ALCOHOL THE RECIPE CALLS FOR especially if you're cooking in a crockpot. The alcohol in the bourbon was SUPPOSED to be cooked out while cooking but by adding so much extra it did not and we were both drunk off our a$$es before we went to bed. That was 10 years ago and he's never requested bourbon chicken again.

Oof, alcohol only really cooks off at high heats, a slow cook that retains much of its moisture isn't likely to do it. It's why you'll often see chefs light pans on fire to really burn it off.

Once I got the pages in my recipe book stuck and made something that was half trifle half lasagna.

It's embarrassing that I, a person whose ancestry is British Isles and Ukrainian, cannot make a potato pancake to save my life. Call it hash brown, latke, whatever you like, I cannot make them. Other than that I cook very well.

Not embarassing at all! I grew up in a Polish household and love to cook, but don't have the patients to form pierogi (Polish dumplings) which I guess is a sin haha. I think with the right recipe, practice and a little patience you'll be able to whip up some Deruny. If not, just keep cooking other delicious food :)
