Hey Pandas, What’s An Annoying Stereotype About Furries That Needs To Be Changed? (Closed)
I've come across so much misinformation about furries... I just want myself and others to understand it better.

Just because ypu have a costume doesn't automatically make you a furry. I have a Panda onsie, I used it as a costume and now I use it as a pajama, when I tell my friends that, they say I'm I furry. It makes me mad and want to scream.
Oh s**t I have a stitch pj's that a big sleeper for adults, I am not a furry.......
That all furries are pedophiles or other crazy b******t they heard on Fox News (ironic, ay?). That is just a beyond microscopic fraction of the Fandom. There are other Fandom where it is far worse. As a whole, the furry Fandom is extremely supportive, as they will love and support you no matter who you are or what you believe in. Honestly, it's better than literally anything I've been a part of.
tl,dr: Furries shouldn't be stereotyped and hated because something that happens to literally every group/organization/fandom in the world happens.
That we all want to whoohoo animals/are Zoophiles. We are NOT! Zoophiles are disgusting people who deserve to be in jail and never be able to be near any animal.

As a furry I get this one a lot:
"Furries think they're animals"
Nope. That would be therians and otherkin. Furries are those who are interested in anthropomorphic characters, like donald duck.
Also, I would like to note to all of you that make furry hunting jokes, that's its incredibly unfunny due to overuse (+ shows being uneducated on the matter, due to information above). Honestly, knowing the toxicity of the furry community, we do deserve to be made fun of, but at least be creative. "Fatherless 🤡" is about as fresh as the canned broccoli in school cafeterias.

People seem to think that fursuits aren't expensive, but they are. I was chatting with someone on Reddit once about their fursuit and it was a lot of money. It also take a lot of hard work to make a suit and people don't seem to realize that either.
That furries are sexual and pedophiles. This isn't necessary at all. I mean, roleplayers like myself get accused of being a furrie. I think furries are just people who like to have a universe to escape reality from. That's a nice tactic, if you think about it.
That EVERYONE gets called one for no reason like my friends and I get called a furry because we don't talk much and are nerds idk...
I got called a furry for pacing while waiting on friends. I have anxiety, why i was pacing and part of why it got worse.
I've got a few:
1) That we are all zoophiles. Zoophiles get kicked from the fandom most of the time
2) That we all have or want fursuits. Like, I like the idea but they cost loads, and I have minor claustrophobia so, no.
3) That we all like the sexual parts of the fandom. Some people do, but, others don't .
Stop making assumptions and ideas up about a fandom you aren't even in
1. That they bark at people! I had some Furry friends, and some group of kids would come up to us and start barking at us, and when we’d ask them what they were doing, they said they were “speaking our language.” Furries don’t do that. Even if they did, it was none of their business. (I almost typed the name of my characters at the end of that sentence- his name is Business cat LOL)
2. Any anthropomorphic animal is a furry. I have animal characters, for example, Business cat. And my mother asked me if I was a furry, just because he was a cat with a human-like body. I have nothing against the furry community, but GOD DANG! MY CHARACTERS ARE NOT FURRIES!!!!!
The top thing that p***es me off is sexualising and bullying furries. I was talking to a guy who hangs around our bus stop and he said "I'm a furry, can i identify as a tree? WHat aBouT a LawNmoWeR?" I just stood there with my friends and stared in utter disbelief.
Also to the people who say nasty things about furries, i say for all of us amazing people, F**K YOU DUMB***ES! GET OFF THE PAGE! IF YOU DONT LIKE FURRIES, DONT OPEN A WHOLE PAGE DEDICATED TO IT! WE ARE WHO WE ARE AND IF YOU SAY OTHERWISE, EAT OUR GAY(or not) COLOURED DUST! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAA

A lot of people think that being a furry means that we think that we're 100% animal. That isn't true, and also we're not furries because of s*x. A lot of people use anthropomorphic animals in their p*rn, and people automatically assume that that's what we're furries for...

yes it does get quite hot, but its worth it to see other people smiling and laughing because we only want to be ourselves and make others happy.

Hey so guys I just need to vent here. Recently I was online and some people started picking on me for being a furry. Then they mentioned that their schools have litter boxes "bEcAuSe Of PeOpLe LiKe YoU" and said that furries pee in litterboxes. I said they didn't and explained what Furries and Therians are but they just kept picking on me. It all was a blur and so I have no details but please, guys. Furries don't use litter boxes. Therians don't act like animals. PLEASE STOP BARKING AT US AND SAYING THESE THINGS. All you haters have done is make my life miserable. I'm so sick of this. I have had so many times where I have read therianphobic and furryphobic comments and have actually questioned my identity. Many times I have asked myself if I'm actually therian or if i'm just faking it and it's just my brain. I don't remember "past lives" I don't do vocals (or bark at people shut the f**k up about it already) or anything else. All I do is practise quads, I have a mask, and that's it.
