My faith...you mention Jesus and most people assume your judgmental and morally uptight.
There is no “true” Christianity. The Bible is such a huge and often self-contradictory book that people can find anything in it that fits their worldview. Are you a kind and compassionate person? You’ll be drawn to the sermon on the mount, to God’s love, to service to humankind, and ignore or wrestle with the darker parts of the book. Are you a hateful, misogynistic bigot? You’ll be drawn to Old Testament vengeance and a wrathful God, and reserve the parts about love for only your own brethren. If you are a kind person and a Christian, it’s not the faith that made you so, it’s you.
Load More Replies...You're right, and I'm sorry for that. In our defense, it's a bit of a trauma reaction from all the harm the extremists have caused.
I totally understand and I honestly don't blame the initial reaction. It's really only annoying when people have known me for awhile find out and think I'm suddenly going to be someone else.
Load More Replies...Blame the frothing at the mouth ones for that I'm afraid. Personally I don't mind as long as you don't try to make it into a badge of superiority or something.
I’m not Christian nor do I believe in god but I hate it when people act like ALL Christian’s are bad just because some of them are sh*t people doesn’t mean all of them are. I support you and I’m so sorry that people treat you this way :{
Trust me. Morally upright isn't the first thing I think of when someone says they are Christian.
It's sometimes the same with my faith. I'm ásatrúar and when I mention that people either think it's cool or they think it's silly (we hear the myths in school so som ppl assume my faith is for school kids?) Or they think I'm into white power and nazism (because groups like those have taken several of the norse heathen symbols and put them into their own sick context). I always wear my Thor's Hammer necklace but I rarely talk about my faith. I think most of non-ásatrúar don't care about the symbol or they think it's just a fashion statement.
Yes! As a new Satanist, I promise I'll accept your religion as long as you accept mine.
I'm cool with people believing in whatever they want.
Load More Replies...Yes!!! I am religious but that doesn’t automatically mean if I see a gay couple smooching ima bust out my holy water .
Actually I'm very dehydrated can I have the holy water anyways
Load More Replies...Same. I believe that the Grace movement that is going through the world now is the true gospel. Jesus didn't judge anyone but the religious Jerks in the Bible. He didn't judge the adulterous woman brought to him, nor the woman at the well. He forgave them and let them go with the understanding that they were not under condemnation. The same is true of all believers today- Jesus paid the price for all of our sins so that we could be free. If you really really read the new testament, especially Paul's letters, you'll see the love, the forgiveness, and the freedom. What all this boils down to, is that to me, as a Christian, I am meant to love others. I don't have to agree with their choices or their life style, but I don't hate them for it. They deserve love just as much a anyone else. No one thrives under condemnation and hatred, but we all blossom under love.
Thank you. I agree with you whole heartedly.
Load More Replies...I worked with a woman for many years and thought we got along, I had a conversation where I mentioned my faith and all of a sudden she was telling coworkers I was judging them... For goodness sake 🙄
I am a total Star Trek nerd. But I don't talk about it much because everyone has a certain image of "Trekkies". No, I do not own my own Starfleet uniform. I don't speak Klingon. I don't go to conventions or have action figures or anything like that. But everyone assumes that about you when you say you like Star Trek. Now, I do I know an awful lot of trivia about it and I know all the plot lines, etc (but this is also true for several other TV series). And I have a coffee mug that has an eye chart on it in Klingon because i work for an eye doctor and my mom bought that for me as an ironic gift.
Lol. I’m around too many geeks and nerds. I love Trek, but hate mentioning it, because inevitably I have to listen to someone go on a rant about why Star Wars is better, or they preferred Babylon 5 or Battlestar Galactica (blah blah blah….). I don’t care which is your fav and the 20 ways you’re gatekeeping your fandom. Let me like what I like. I also love SW and 80s sci-fi like Enemy Mine. I’m not going to fight you over it.
You reminded me of the Big Bang theory episode with Will Wheaton turning up for the Star Wars opening dressed in his Star Trek uniform 😂
Load More Replies...Thank you for all of the upvotes and support!!! I feel validated and way less stigmatized. I did not expect this to blow up like this. Love to all my fellow Trekkie Pandas ❤
We can all just love what we love, and the haters can kick rocks on Ceti Alpha 5.
They can wait for the Borg there. I will transmit the coordinates.
Load More Replies...I love Star Trek, I had a massive crush on Kirk which moved onto Worf as I grew older :)
I always had a crush on Capt Picard, bit as I have gotten older, I do have a thing for Cmdr Riker
Load More Replies...At 39 years old, I decided at the beginning of this year that I was going to watch all of Star Trek (Including the films) for the first time! My shortest possible summary: I didn't like Enterprise, although some of the characters were good. TOS, was a little cheesy but fun to watch. TNG, was uninspiring, little to no exploration, they were more diplomats/police than anything else. Deep Space 9 was alright, some good bits, some annoying (Looking at you Jake Sisco!). Voyager, Easily my fav, shame they rushed the ending. Discovery, had potential but got stupid & lazy (What's canon anymore???). SNW, Enjoyable, a potential contender for top spot. Reboot films, V.good. nice way to reboot without messing with canon. Picard, still to do but don't have high hopes. The animated ones I haven't touched but probably will do when I finish Picard.
There are some wonderful Trek groups on Facebook many of you might enjoy. Be sure to look for ones that state they are non toxic. You should be able to share what you love. Live long and prosper!
being single, living with a bunny and not wanting kids
Seriously, though. The stigma around not wanting kids is almost unbelievable. There are so many horror stories out there about family/in-laws freaking out about it.
I dont want kids and I feel like the stereotype is: a young woman not wanting kids = shes selfish
Maybe it is selfish to not want to have kids, but then it is also selfish to want kids.
Load More Replies...Oddly enough, every time I talk about my bunny and his hijinks, people get excited. But that may just be my excitement rubbing off on them.
I am F and 50 now. I really, really hoped this BS was done. I lived my entire adult life with "when are you having kids?" I am not. "What? You hate kids?" No, I just don't want them. I really hoped that we 'old ones' had cleared a bit of a path for you younger ones who don't want kids. Stay strong and stick you YOUR beliefs and feelings. I have never once regretted not having them.
my culture… i’m russian no my culture is not starting wars and killing innocent people while riding bears and drinking vodka
We need to be reminded there is a big difference between the people of a country, and the leaders of a country.
thank you so much for saying this. i haven’t spoken russian in three months. the last time i did, i was talking to an old woman at the store i work at, and another lady came up and asked if we where russian (i live in the US). we both said yes. she goes ‘so how do you feel about *your people* starting a war?’. been to scared to talk in my native language in public since.
Load More Replies...I hate this stereotype of Russians. While yes some of them maybe like this doesn’t mean all of them are nor does the culture mean that. I’m so sorry people treat you this way :{
Maybe it's because my friend group includes several Russians who are heartbroken and feel unable to risk visiting home, but I would think most people are aware of the difference between a tyrannical govt and the people who, by definition, did not choose their leaders. Same with China. I worked with a lot of Chinese grad students while I was in grad school. Most only talked about it with nervous jokes, and one drank the Koolaid, but my best friend at the time confided that she was afraid to go back.
I am sorry you are dealing with this. I understand. I am female, white, 50, and American - and I did NOT vote for trump. I get it friend.
i’m 15, and unfortunately, i can’t decide if it’s worse to say that i’m russian or american. i grew up here.
Load More Replies...I would defintely make this my culture. Except for the wars. Oh, and I don't drink vodka.
No, it's starting wars, killing innocent people especially your own, writing enormous but brilliant novels and drinking vodka.
i can agree with the books part, but the rest is very stereotypical.
Load More Replies...I love to watch cartoons. I always have. I am 64 years old and a retired teacher. My students used to crack up when I could discuss the latest Disney or Pixar films, or when I knew "Ren and Stimpy" and other Adult swim cartoons. I was either the cool teacher or the nutty one, either is fine with me.
I just turned 50 and I am watching Futurama right now. I've seen the entire series several times. I also enjoy Bob's Burgers and have recently acquired an appreciation of Rick and Morty. I think American Dad is even funnier than Family guy. My husband is a few years older and never watched these types of shows. Now I catch him laughing even after saying some of them were dumb. I will never outgrow a good animated series!
I am a cartoon fanatic. Especially the older ones. Mickey mouse and friends. Woody Woodpecker, Roadrunner. I rooted for W***y E Coyote sometimes hehe Remember Mighty Mouse ? I do Bullwinkle and Rocky ? I could go on and on....... Some newer cartoons are good but most seem to be about war and fighting and those aren't cartoons to me.
Mighty Mouse - I haven't seen that one in many years! Too cool. Ricochet Rabbit was fun too.
Load More Replies...I'm 64 as well and have collections of Warner Cartoons, Pink Panther, Animaniacs, Archies, Josie & The Pussycats, Wacky Races, Flintstones, Kimba, Prince Planet etc. I even have one hell of a Disney collection! LOL! Toon on!
OMG CARTOONS! I hate the stigma, around any kind of animations. It's for all ages to enjoy, whether the show be Looney tunes or King of the Hill!
I'm 37 and still enjoy cartoons. Depending on what I'm watching, it's either a nif to my childhood which is great for the nostalgia or if I'm watching with my kids, it's to enjoy a show they like. Either way, it's fun to watch them and can be a source of comfort. Because two of my three are older and I still have a young child we've watched everything from stuff from the 90's like Rugrats and the stuff I loved then to Bluey, and even Family Guy, Rick and Morty, and American Dad. I watch it all with them.
The fact I still like toys and sleep with stuffed toys at almost 26. I'm a bit imature and have depression, but playing with kid stuff conforts me, and I known people will either judge or mock me for it. Almost everytime I buy a toy, I feel judge by the cashiers on the stores.
Toys aren't just for children and if they bring you joy and comfort, all the better. I'm sure you would be amazed if you knew just how many people have and enjoy toys and stuffed critters. I do.
Im the same, i used to be embarrassed about it because im a guy and a goth/metalhead but i dont care anymore 😂 i make my own plush dinosaurs and dragons, i think stuffed toys are for everyone! The instagram plushie community is great, lots of people of all ages and genders like to make plushies or take pictures of a little stuffed toy mascot travelling to different places 🙂
This is my sheep buddy, he travels everywhere in my pocket 8BB560D1-0...b-jpeg.jpg
You know what I miss? When I was a little kid, and holding a Darth Vader figure in one hand and Luke Skywalker in the other utterly transported me to another world. Epic battles, triumphs and tragedies, some of which I still remember 40 years later. I still like to look at them, but can’t actually play with them anymore, can’t get lost in them like that. If I could, I would do it in a heartbeat and wouldn’t care who knew. Also, my stuffed panther is named Puddles and I sleep with him every night. I didn’t even mind when the TSA pulled him out my luggage at the airport, he’s just my panther.
I make Fairy bottles and Fairy picnics amongst other things and the time I spend putting the picnics together is my guilty little pleasure as it takes me back to my childhood when everything was new and magical. My 19 year old son loves anime plushies, my 24 year old daughter is obsessed by cats of all shapes, sizes, materials and funkos ... whatever keeps you happy or brings you joy is what makes you ... you :) xx
35, female, sleep with a jack skellington plushie. Also have a panda, elephant, and dumbo. No shame. You're good.
So I used to really think it was weird when I saw people with toys or stuffed animals. Why are they so childish? But I came to realize they weren't the ones with the issue, I was. I grew up very poor, and toys and comfort were not priorities for us. All that mattered was food and shelter. I realized the emotion I was feeling wasn't disgust, it was anger. Not at anyone in particular, just at the way things were for my family. Once i understood that, it became a lot easier to drop the judgement. So please enjoy your stuffies, and be comforted. If somebody is judging you, it's probably their issue not yours.
I think I understand your anger, but why not treat yourself to a really soft plushy and sweetlooking teddy bear now. It might assuage that anger a little to cuddle it.
Load More Replies...When you need comfort you need something that comforts you and calms your emotions and thoughts. No matter how or in what form. I hope you will soon find the courage to not mind what others may think of you (impossible task when depression is there, I know). The cashiers in the stores very likely just think you are buying a toy for a child you know. And you are: you are buying a toy for the child in your heart. And that is 100% all right! 😊
I haven't really bought a toy for myself in a long time, but I'm 37 and have some plushies my kids have given me as gifts. Marie from the Aristocats (Disney) and a sloth and parrot too. I love them. Also have a teddy bear my husband gave me years ago. Also, my oldest is 19 and collects and plays with hot wheels. His dad gets annoyed at him sometimes and tells him he needs to quit worrying about playing with toys and he needs to grow up. I say he's fine the way he is. He's a good kid, works, and besides that, he could be the type of guy that goes out to party and cause trouble but he doesn't.
I buy toys an stuff for my child an dog all the time, im a "burly" man but that stuff giraffe or blue unicorn still looks fun even if it aint for me, shine those fools an there funny looks
I'm 14 and play with Race Cars and sleep with my childhood stuffed animal!
fanfiction/fanart. no, not every story is smut, or poorly written, or whatever. I've read some really well-written fanfic, and I've read some crappy "who let a five-year-old onto this website" fanfic. same goes with fanart. but hey, its all subjective. you do you boo.
I hate that people think about fanfics or fanart like this. As long as it’s not about real people or p3dophilia and !nc3st let people write what they want!!!
And there is no need to do so. There is stuff that would even be more satisfying w/out any sexual part.
Load More Replies...I don't care if a fic has sex in it or not is my view basically. I'm an adult and not a virgin so it's nothing new to me and I'm reading for the bonding and relationships. I always gravitate to longer 40,000+ word (at the very least) fanfictions, because the story and plot is always so much better.
Mind you, I'm Grey Ace so I just don't see the big deal with sex in the first place. It's great if it's there and great if it's not 🤷🏻♀️
Load More Replies...One of my favorite reading stuff are FFs at these days. There are so many unrecognised authors in this world. It's really satisfying to see how authors evolved from the "five-year-old" to a very skilled one. --- it's the same with fanart. - sometimes I just recognise a name from ~5 years prior and the art got from "yeah, no. That won't do" to "wow... stunning". ---- @ every author & artist do not give up just b/c some issues. Do not feel sorry, do better. I want more to share & more to translate :)
Same, though I stopped being as quiet about liking fan fiction after getting in to discussions with some authors. I mostly enjoy FF because I enjoy how different fans see their fandom, and what things they like to play with changing. There are also some incredible writers and artists out there.
Load More Replies...I think the only fanfictions I ever read was from My Little Pony - and I have to agree that there is some awesome art out there
AH I need some of those stories! Where did you read them?
Load More Replies...I really enjoy learning about random things. seems harmless right? but I think people find the things I lear about weird. I have learned about poisons (was learning about the cold war at the time), cults, with some urban legends and true crime mixed in. I don't always learn about dark stuff (heck, I researched butterflies for a while!) but I worry that sometimes people will think I'm crazy. nope. I just write stuff and Wikipedia is awesome
I thought everyone did this. Learning something new is such pleasure. I always try to do so, and goes to lectures about this and that, if only they are for free, because I am an old age pensioner and has to watch my expenses. As a result I am very very rarely bored
I am very passionate about everything. I too am interested in butterflies and moths, oh and beetles. Also birds, and fish, and 19th century military strategy, also physics, and the history of science, and biographies, and ..... A few months ago, I started teaching myself Vulgar Latin so I could read letters and accounts during the Islamic period in Spain. I tell my kids, your brain can grow, or it can shrink. But it's a leaky balloon, so if you don't keep filling it, it gets empty fast.
O M G YES! Wikipedia and google and sometimes even BP can be such rabbit holes. I read an article, google it to get more info, come to wikipedia, see a related link and off we go. 2 hours later and I‘ve not only read the thing I wanted to research but also how it was related to some totally random other stuff.
i am a trivia nerd! i am terrible to take to a library because i may go in looking for something specific and four hours later i have read parts of 12 book, jotted down the titles of some for later, and leave with a totally unrelated topic that i went in looking for.
LGBTQ+ It’s hard to bring it up into conversation because you never know what reactions will be like :( you could get “ ew do you like me or something”or “oh cool! I support:)”
I’ve asked before, but is you username your real name, the gem , or something else?? It’s so pretty
Load More Replies...I agree 100%, especially since I'm aroace. You can never tell if someone is gonna say that you don't exist, or if someone's opinion is going to be "well, it could still happen!". It's kind of difficult to not get backlash unless you know other ace or aro people.
I relate to this so much because I'm Grey Ace. The amount of times I've told someone only to be told I have a sex/libido disorder or something, since I do want sex sometimes. Like, no Hun, unless I've had this disorder my whole life I'm pretty sure I'm just Ace.
Load More Replies...There's a point where I'm just going to let people think I'm a cishet guy (I'm trans and bisexual) because I pass just so I don't have to deal with transphobia
I agree. sometimes you just mention something casually and into a serious "controversial" conversation. Someone's identity isn't really up for debate, people
Why anyone cares who/how consenting adults have/don't have sex with is beyond me. Consenting = Not anyone else's business.
My pet chickens. Unless brought up normally (in person) I wouldn't talk about them, but if you get me started I could spill a lot of facts about them
CHICKENS!! Personally I think pet chickens are awesome and if someone told me they had pet chickens I would ask to go see them instantly.
I got four chickens! All hens! They were bought around the time the pandemic started. They're my pandemic chickens, heh
Load More Replies...Pet chickens are awesome! Maybe you could post some pictures on BP... I would personally love to see them! :)
My neighbor has chickens and a rooster. I love listening to the hens as they peck around the ground. If I'm lucky I'll spy a tiny chick or two. I can honestly live without the rooster waking me up every day screaming "RISE AND SHINE MOTHER CLUCKERS!"
Chickens are amazing! I used to have 8 hens and 2 roosters. Loved one of the roosters and the other one was an major AH. The rooster that was kind, would peck at the backdoor and come in when the door was opened. He would then sit next to me on the couch and watch tv. When he had to do his business, he would simply get up and go back outside. I have no idea why he started to do this as I never trained him to. Oh, how I miss Flash.
Some people nearby keep four hens in a backyard and I think it's really cool. I walk by there with my dog sometimes. The birds sometimes come up to the fence to check us out. My dog used to growl at them 'cause he was unsure of them, but he seems to be getting used to them.
I love my snakes. They are fantastic pets but so many people are so negative about these wonderful creatures... Then they wilk talk about their dogs and kids for hours.
You can talk with me about snakes for hours! It amazes me how many men are afraid of snakes. Years ago I dated a guy who had a friend with a rat snake. I asked him why he never took it out and he said everyone is terrified of it. So he took it out and let me hold it. It curled its head in my hair and napped while my bf ran outside. These days when we go to a zoo and someone has a snake out I beeline towards it and my husband stays about 30 feet away.
I think they’re cute! I saw a horned viper at the zoo this week and he looked like a little baby dragon with horns 😍
I want a corn snake, they're great for beginners, but also they're just adorable. They have the roundest snoots and I love them
I LOVE SNAKES. Always wanted a Black Mamba or something cool like that.
Yes you do, they are great pets and given proper care live 20 plus years, if you handle them regularly and give them the correct habit they even seen to grow to like you My 20 year old corn snake Larry comes to see me when I get home 🏡 🐍 ♥
Load More Replies...I've been a huge fan of X-Men since about 1994. But now I'm a middle-aged married mother of 3 with a professional career. I would love to still collect/read comments, maybe even dress up for a comiccon, but my husband wouldn't understand and it would be frowned upon in most circles. Best I can hope for is to get my kids interested so we can share that passion, but they're a bit too young yet.
can't edit typo: should be collect/read COMICS, not comments :)
now we have to upvote this so you don't get attacked for the typo
Load More Replies...No offense meant, but your husband could at least respect your enjoyment of a hobby. My husband has a lot of superhero and video game stuff. Collectibles, figurines, coffee mugs, etc. It would be fine with me if he went to Comic Con. I would go along just to watch him have fun.
It doesn’t matter if your husband doesn’t understand. You can have your own interests. I love science and sci-fi and my wife doesn’t. She loves true crime and I don’t. Be a middle-aged mom in a Wolverine costume! SNIKT!
My husband isn’t a huge fan of cosplaying and cons in general (mostly because of people), but he’s always supported my love of both. I too have a professional career, and I proudly show off my creations. Cosplaying takes creativity and skill - things those “circles” should learn to appreciate.
I loved the X-Men growing up. It's a shame the movies have all been kinda crappy. I was super excited to see an Apocalypse movie, but it was so bad. Also in my forties now, and i say dress up. Make your husband stress up too, and if he doesn't like it, next year he's going as Jubilee.
I've been a fan of the X Men since about 1977 when my then b/f introduced me to them in the John Byrne days. I ended up with my own massive comic collection, and I've always managed to find partners who loved the same genres - sci fi, fantasy, movies and books. It is possible to find geeks who aren't nerdy incel boys
I love the X Men, I grew up reading my fathers massive comic collection so am a huge fan. The animated series made me grow to love the films. I'm not the right body shape to cosplay my fave X person ... Rogue but identify with her so much. I bet your husband would change his mind if you dragged him along to a convention x
Please stop worrying about what your husband thinks. You need to be you. Geek out. If he can't appreciate you, someone else will. Check out the Over 30 Cosplay page on Facebook. Wonderful, supportive group. Let the X Woman in you out!
My mental health and struggle with depression. I always felt like I wasn't 'qualified' to be depressed because my life was pretty good. But your life being fine DOES NOT invalidate your feelings. Some people really do have trouble mentally, myself included, without having to be in an abusive home or toxic relationship or stuff like that. Let's face it. A bad week can really f**k up your state of being. And that's normal. It doesn't mean it's ok. It just means that it will happen and you have to learn to overcome it. I just want people to realize that someone struggling with a such a mindset needs and deserves help no matter the reason they feel that way. People have died over the smallest of things, bad days when someone just told them to suck it up or wait for things to get better. *Things do in fact get better*. But sometimes they just need to vent or cry or scream in the moment so their feelings are not bottled up until they all explode and something actually happens. So yeah. I don't tell people when I'm actually not fine because all I get told is that "you shouldn't be depressed since your life is so nice." And not telling anyone anything is where it gets dangerous. Just smile at someone if they are down. Let them yell their head off because they aren't having a good day. Let them process their emotions and help when you can. I cannot tell you how many times someone asking me if I'm ok and then listening to me has saved my life. A smile goes a long way. Hang in there fellow pandas :)
Yes, hang in there. I've dealt with similiar situation since I was 8 (I'm 50+ now). On the bad days/weeks/times, I repeat my mantra "it is just for now, it WILL get better. Just have faith" which works for me. May seem simplistic or whatever, but over time, you WILL figure out your own way of coping. Hang in there, indeed. <3
*Smiles at all of Pandahood, Potatohood, Headless Roachhood etc*
Edit: I just realized this technically doesn't answer the question correctly about enjoying something, but it's something I want to talk about and don't. Thanks for the support :)
Sure it does you enjoy discussing mental health and getting knowledge out there so more people can understand. I have a great life but suffer from depression and most people don't believe it because I am so happy in public.
Load More Replies...Anime.... I've been a fan since the early 70s when I first saw astroboy and kimba the white lion... It led to my passion for Japanese art, poetry and culture. (Even studied edo period printmaking at university.) But the fandom is so toxic, it's impossible to find intelligent discussion on the subject. The general view of anime seems to revolve around 4 or 5 mainstream shonen series, and it fkn drives me crazy. It's not all over the top violence and giant breasted women. There are so many quiet, beautiful, heartfelt series out there but they just get lost in the miasma of toxicity. I just don't bother trying to talk to anyone about it because the stigma is just too great. It's seen as the realm of incel fuckwits and whining manbabies....
I love most of the Studio Ghibli stuff I have the entire collection on Dvd.
Me too! I do find it quite infrequent acheiving the same level of satisfaction from non-SG titles, unfortunately..
Load More Replies...No,but did enjoy the very first anime adaption.....
Load More Replies...I feel this hard... I studied Japanese culture and the language myself out of the love of anime. But that toxicity is real...
Not quite my thing but was still pretty cool, though sort of got distracted with other things,so only watched about half the first season.... It's on my list of things I need to finish watching..... It sort of came out at the same time as a bunch of other series, so..... Too many anime, not enough time!!!!
Load More Replies...I'm not really into the bigger modern series myself (Chainsaw Man and Attack on Titan being the exceptions), but there are some very good ones that usually fall onto the wayside. I'm more of a mecha anime guy myself, especially Gundam... as evident by my Barbatos tattoo.
Yep, AoT was one of my faves ( sort of went off it with the final series, though ) and I'm liking Chainsaw Man so far ( but I feel it's gonna go the same way as Fire Force... good at first, but ended up with too much filler and ridiculous fan service ). I'm much more into fantasy and ikesai.... And I'm a sucker for slice of life romances. Though I pretty well watch anything!!! All time favorites would be GITS stand alone complex and Ergo Proxy...
Load More Replies...I would live to have a conversation with you about anime. The first one I ever watched was Akira.
Wow , saw that the first day it was released at the cinema in Australia....totally blew my mind, it was when I realized that anime had totally become a legitimate artform and I started viewing it as that.... More than just enjoying watching it but viewing it academically as an extension to Japanese artistic tradition in the same way as you can see manga as a direct evolution from the artistic traditions of Hokusai and other artists of the edo period.... Shame that it is viewed mostly with contempt in the west because of the toxic fandom.... Weeb culture is the worst ,and downright insulting to Japanese culture and traditions...
Load More Replies...Oh, and if you're interested in intelligent discussion of good anime.... Look up the blog " starting life from zero". It's the only blog I read and it is so refreshing..... Look it up!
My friend is an undertaker, he loves his job, gets to support lots of families in need, learns a lot about different cultures. But we lie about his job in social situations because people get either 1) uncomfortable or 2) start asking really intense personal questions.
Family owns a funeral home. I tell people that I got the family special and since the same funeral home gets 90% of my family's business, I tell people they give us a punch card like the coffee places do. My cousins thought this was hilarious (they own the funeral home). There is no shame in what your friend does. The shame is when these over the top funeral homes gut the families by charging outrageous prices. I have seen what the stuff actually costs.
@Ru Bee -- What do you say in social situations? Do you come up with something different every time or is there a specific lie you tell.
jeez at first I was like oh cool that sounds like a fun job lemme see what it actually is! I googled it and it wasn't what I expected. But hey who else is gonna do it? The monkeys? lol
i felt the same until just now. i looked it up and found out it means funeral director. oh.

Sure, I have to make sure I'm using the right pronouns, but honestly I just use she/her in my head and swap it out with the neopronoun. She has her book=Xe have Xer book (hope I did that right, I'm still not great at using neopronouns, but I'm also bad at talking to people, so I promise I'm not trying to be offencive)
The problem is not the neopronouns. The problem are the people who make ones like frog/frogself. Edit: I have no problem with people who use neopronouns because the regular ones don’t feel right sometimes.
But frog/frogself are apart of neos! I use cloud/cloudself sometimes and I could explain it to you if you’d like!! :D

Oki!! So some of my pronouns are things suck as cloud/cloudself or I use emoji pronouns such as 🍄/🍄self!! In a sentence online with emoji pronouns would go something like this: “🍄 went to the mall with 🍄’s friends 🍄 had a great time!” Some people use these types of pronouns cause their gender feels connected to things such as mushrooms or other things! Some people’s gender may also feel connected to a character, while yes anyone can use neopronoun and xenogenders morally people who are neurodivergent use them!! I hoped this helps!!

snowflake jokes are the worst. the people telling them don't know and don't care about the damage that they're doing to not just gender diverse people, but also the way we think about people who are different in general.
I enjoy doing math. I am in a second year calculus class, and I’ve always enjoyed my math hw. When I tell people that they look at me like I’m crazy, or say something about how I only like it because I’m some kind of genius, which I’m DEFINITELY not. I don’t enjoy othering myself, so I mostly just enjoy my math work quietly.
I'm not very good at math, but I find it very comforting to know that mathematical principles are unchanging. Maybe that sounds weird, but I think it is very beautiful despite being difficult!
I felt the same until my kid started school and I couldn't wrap my head around how they teach basic math these days. I was like, why did they ruin it!?
Load More Replies...That's why I don't like maths. Because it makes too much sense. However I can see that it can be relaxing when there's no deadlines, just something that you can focus on. I'm guessing it can be a mindfulness technique.
Load More Replies...I thought it was impossible to like math when I was a kid, but when I started to learn how to solve things it turned into my favorite subject. I think it is just so fun to make a group of numbers become a single number. (sorry for any grammar errors, as I'm not fluent in english)
I think you're associating with the wrong people. If there aren't any STEM clubs at your school, at least you can rest assured that you'll be welcome at a tech institute or college with good STEM programs. I went to a tech institute for undergrad with a 7:3 male to female ratio, and as a woman, on the whole I was treated very well. I had a stalker there for a few months, but everyone who knew about it, both male and female, was very supportive (and agreed they thought the guy was a kook). The head of the math dept at that school was female and she was one of the best teachers I had. There are plenty of people who love math and coding and other nerdy disciplines, and besides, that's where all the jobs are. Embrace the math, it's the language of the universe!
I'm heading in a History/English major program with a Music minor, so most in those circles hates math and thinks I'm weird. In my calculus class, my engineer aiming friends and such think I'm weird because I'm in super advanced math but I've also written literal novels. It's both that I like math and some people think that's odd, and that my main focus is very different from math so people find that odd even if they do like math.

Being Vegan - I don’t push it or shame anyone, I wasn’t always vegan. However I am passionate about it and always happy to debate or just discuss it
Yeah. When I first became vegetarian, people would look at me like I insulted their family, ancestors, their cow. Most mellowed out when I turned vegan, but those “where’d you get your protein” questions were vexing.
I think the "what about protein" questions would get annoying, especially if they were being sarcastic, but in the US we're pretty much taught that protein is from meat, no one really talked about where else! I normally only see nuts being used as an example, but what is there besides nuts? I'm allergic and I wouldn't mind to just stop eating meat 😁
Load More Replies...I’m vegan with an intolerance to garlic and onions, lol. It’s a trip! I still eat the stuff from time to time but it can give me a bad stomach ache. I generally don’t mention I’m vegan until people push food on me after repeatedly saying no.. then they look at me like I said I’ve got COVID.
Honestly, I don’t care what you eat as long as you don’t make it your whole personality or eat people
I tried being Vegan but had so many reactions to the diet that I am now a Pescatarian ( white fish only) I do feel guilty about eating fish though :(
I don't think I could ever go full vegan, but I appreciate that lifestyle and honestly, I wouldn't mind going vegan/vegetarian perhaps a day in a week. It would probably be much needed detox for my borderline toxic/radioactive system right now...
My only issue with veganism in general is the people who claim it's a cruelty free alternative to eating meat. Animals still die in the production of vegan food unfortunately. But I've thankfully met very few vegans like this and most are really chill people. As long as you are happy with what you are doing and aren't trying to force it on anyone else, have at it :)
I am not fanatical about monitoring my protein as most vegan foods actually provide more than similar omni foods, the meat replacements are exceptionally good!! I once added up a meal which was a breakfast/brunch if toast, 2 vg sausages, baked beans and it came to about 50g of protein. Also many everyday foods ie bread, cereals have protein in, and veg like peas are a great source of protein X

Bored panda and some other social media sites. I don't usually post, but I love reading other people's stories and opinions on issues. I would definitely get judged for how much time I lurk on these sites.
I'm also a fellow lurker. I've posted here on this page than any other... haha
Don't worry about what others think. We all do weird s**t. Just don't cross into creepy stalker territory. Or start spreading harmful misinformation. Or refer to baseball as anything other than "boring".
If you are being judged by the group(s) around you just for going to a site, a site mind you that give random, funny, and interesting content. Then you need to think of it this way, there are many many sites out there that do the same thing most have been around since the late 90's Everyone has a funny meme, quote, or video on their phone we just get it all from different places and this site is one of them. So if you feel that you will be judged for going to this siite keep this in mind, they probably feel the same way about you. Plus most of the time people don't care where you get the info (just make sure its verified for real news or events) just if it's funny or interesting. You be the judge of which one to show to who. In a world of uncertainty we should never be uncertain of ourselves
I love watching true crime shows. People ask me if I am studying up on how to get away with murder....my response is always the same..."would you like to be the test subject?"
Honestly, I watch them for two reasons mainly. One, I love seeing a mind work its way through a problem, and two, it reminds me that my life could be a whole heck of a lot worse.
Exactly. I have two family members murdered. One in 1998 and one in 2017. We still haven't gotten answers for either. It makes my heart happy when I see another family suffering the same thing gets their answers and their justice.
Load More Replies...My family thinks I am crazy for watching a ton of True Crime. Always poking fun at me, but then they walk into the room and start watching (while still standing). I then have to push pause on the remote and explain the ENTIRE episode them. This happens all the time.
Funny thing is, most true crime shows focus on murderers like Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer, Aileen Wuornos, Fred and Rose West, etc... and they all have one thing in common besides the killing: they were all caught. Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer were a level above their contemporaries, but even though they killed decades apart, both were around when crime solving techniques weren't as advanced as they are now. Even the Golden State Killer was elusive for a long time, but he was eventually caught too. To actually get away with murder in this day and age is no easy feat. Especially if you decide to become a serial killer and maintain the same MO.
Not really. There a whole network for true crime, Investigation Discovery. My favorites are Joe Kenda, Paula Zahn, southern Fried Homicide. These are typically just one murdered person and the police solving the case.
Load More Replies...Did you know the FBI, stated that in the US , there are between 75-1500, serial killers on the loose right now.

Sometimes I really do describe it like that. The people who get judgmental over it are the ones who my smartass side. I reply to judgment with all kinds of these comments. Here is another example, my child was overstimulated at a crowded store (she was 3 and is autistic) she started smacking herself, I tried to get her stop and we were seriously paying for our purchase at this point, the man behind me very loudly declared "if she does that to herself then you must do that to her a lot" to which I replied "and would you like to see how it feels if I do it?"

Oh my goodness yes. The best book series I have ever read was a manga, a Pokemon manga nonetheless. People often scoff when I tell them that, whether it be because of my age, gender stereotypes for that sort of thing, or their mental image of hentai-obsessed-30-year-old-men-who-live-in-someone-else's-basement. It's really sad, honestly, amazing plotlines and artstyles people never give chances to for fear of becoming a "weeb".
Furry artwork in all forms (books, pictures, comics and animations) and the liking of Anthropomorphism as concept. Furries don't have the best reputation, mainly because of the impression some few wierd people from the fandom leave on the internet. Other prejudices are that all Furries are zoophiles, LGBQT+ or neckbeards living in basements. I wouldn't say that there isn't some of that present in the fandom, but the majority of Furries are just normal everyday people. (LGBQT+ is a somewhat correct "stigma" though, a very present topic in the community)
Furries, man. If people looked beyond stereotypes, they would certainly learn a lot about each other. The furry fandom really did change my life for the better. At a time when I was in a really dark place, when it seemed like I had no friends, it was people in the furry fandom that were the ones that checked up on me. I now have tons of amazing friends that are also furries, and that has to mean something. But another thing people often forget, furries are one of the top monetary donors for pretty much any wildlife or animal welfare foundation, with many furry-conventions donating large portions of their profits.
Wait... that's possible?? One can honestly just enjoy anthropomorphic animal art without it being sexualized!? Seriously, count me in!!! I liked wearing cat ears or tails or something animal because they're cute! But I'm not a "furry" in an overly sexualized way. This post made me feel WAY better...
weird story: once a girl from the grade below me and my friend called my friend a furry because she was wearing a Cats hat. Cats as in the musical. I'm sure the girl meant it as an insult but it was honestly kind of funny.
I'm showing my age. I have no idea what this means. I thought I knew what furries were but now I'm not sure. I have a vague guess at what zoophiles could be but have no idea what a neckbeard is.
Furries basically dress up in animal like outfits and roleplay as that animal. For some people it's sexual will can be off putting to others but hey as long as you don't slide into someone's DM's and try to have unsolicited internet sex with them, it's fine. But it's become a huge stereotype, when in reality most furries don't view it as sexual and more they just relate heavily to the animal. I'm not even a furry, but I've talked to them before and you see a lot online.

What I mean is that some people dislike homosexual people and project that on the fandom as negative attribute. Looking back it probably appears like negative association naming that in context to the other two stigmas. (Rhethoric isn't my strength)

I do it purely for relaxation, and because I enjoy it, and mostly give a lot of the finished pieces away, or to a friend who runs an animal rescue centre, and she sells them or auctions them to raise funds. But every time I mention it to people, the reaction is always "you should do craft shows/sell them on Etsy/open an online shop/make a living out of it" I don't want to do it as a business, I do it purely for the relaxation and satisfaction it gives me. If I monetise it, I'm sure that sense of enjoyment would go and I don't want that.
Yeah, I've learned this the hard way repeatedly: NEVER make your hobby an obligation, for work or study or anything. The obligation destroys your motivation and enjoyment of the whole process, and depending on how long you do it, you could be put off that hobby for a very long time.
I am sure you are right. Some people can turn their hobby into a business and still enjoy it, but it does not happen very often. There is a wealth of diffecence between doing something because you feel like it and doing it because there is rent to pay.

Wanting to get rid of my uterus because its very existence inside me is a constant source of anxiety. We do not talk enough about the fact that the experience of having a uterus is legitimately full-on traumatic for a huge fraction of the female population, even in the unlikely even that they are never assaulted or harrassed (yes, the majority of women are eventually subjected to these things). Periods are horrifying, humiliating, and excruciating, especially early on - something like 70% of teenage girls have periods that are painful enough to be debilitating at least some of the time. When I was in high school I'd go home one day a month almost every month with chills, diarrhea, and cramps so bad I couldn't stand up straight...only for my parents to tell me "you can't keep doing this" (I knew better than anyone that it wasn't sustainable, but WTF could I do in my own, knowing OTC pain meds only worked if I could take them before the pain started?) It sounds absurd and hilarious to say, but I've ejected blood and chunks in such quantity with such force that queefs have given me flashbacks. The hormones screwed with my body so much that I only had 7-10 days a month where my GI tract functioned like everyone says it was supposed to, and 2 weeks out of the month I couldn't run without inducing cramps that made me feel like I had to give birth to my spine. And most of all, I'm terrified of being pregnant, not just because every mother on my mom's side has had postpartum mental issues and pelvic organ prolapse, but because politically, with the US trending toward the elimination of all forms of female reproductive autonomy, it's turning into a Sword of Damocles situation. Even now that ice stopped my periods with birth control, it feels like I have a loaded trap in me, just waiting for my access to run out to shackle me with dependence and disability, and force me into reproductive enslavement to the white supremacist cause. And I'm a lucky one for being able to find birth control that works for me. For all the men out there about to say "but what about the multiple orgasms" (because you'd be shocked how often that pops up in threads where women are venting about how much our reproductive systems suck): as someone who can give myself those on a routine basis, I can confirm, they are absolutely not worth the everything else that comes with having a uterus. I'd give them up in a heartbeat. I'd give up *all* orgasms *forever* if I could get rid of my uterus without worrying about the rest of my organs falling because of it. That's how much it sucks.
I hope you get this taken care of soon. As an older woman, it DOES get better. Being post-menopausal ROCKS SO HARD. No kids here, either. Hope you feel better and get the help and/or meds you need!
I am going on 40, so I don‘t have that much time left with periods, but still… I would gladly have them cut everything out of me. I‘ve got two children already. I never had any problems with pains until only a couple of years ago. Now I get this massive headache for around 1-2 days. It‘s only 1 freaking day, but that pain is so extreme, I am really wishing they would cut it out. Plus, the bleeding is a bit annoying of course.

Cats. It's something that I am obsessed with ever since I was a toddler. I grew up with cats. They've been there for me for almost everything I've been through, from the death of my grandparents, to my parent's divorce, and even through my depression. They've been there for me for years and I can't thank them enough. People are always so judgemental against them and think that they're not smart, but it's quite the opposite. Cats are plenty smart. Smarter than dogs. It's been scientifically proven.
I love cats! I hate when people associate cats with one negative experience, instead of finding new positive ones :)
I’ve had a negative experience with cats. I was a dumb kid who kept trying to pet my friend’s cat, so I 100% deserved it and I don’t blame the cat for defending its boundaries. I don’t hate cats, and I actually think they’re pretty cool animals! However, I am NERVOUS around cats. I can’t control this fear. I’ve had many positive experiences with cats since, but since I still struggle to interpret their body language (even though I’ve spent a lot of time trying to research how to read it), I am still nervous around them. Please don’t decide that I’m a horrible person just because I’m nervous around something that has hurt me in the past.

This one has already been mentioned, but mine is a different take on it: LGBTQIA+. I have huge issues with it because I just recently dedicated my life to Christ, and yes, the bible does say that it's sin. But ... it doesn't sit right with me that just because you chose to be with who you loved means you're kept out of heaven. Also, however, our government. I'm American, and yeah, our government sucks. But I'm not talking about the people, though I have strong opinions there. I'm talking about the system. it SUCKS.
the bible never says it's a sin. it was translated from "men shouldn't sleep with child" to "men shouldn't sleep with men"
I wish that were true, but the general consensus is that it's not. There are several wiki pages on the subject. Only one academic endorses that interpretation and the consensus of others in the field is that he's being led by motivated reasoning. The better thing to do is accept that the Bible is a collection of morality fables and 3rd person accounts written Millennia ago by largely unreliable human narrators about a god who, by their own description, is a jealous gaslighting tyrant whose morals are surpassed by many of his own putative representatives on Earth. You can do better than god. It's not even hard.
Load More Replies...I believe you have to take into account when the Bible was written. People married young, and had lots of kids, in the hopes that some would live to adulthood. Masturbation and homosexuality were considered a waste of semen. Nowadays, our population is out of control. Procreation isn't anywhere near so important now.... Also, if you look at Sodom and Gomorrah, it was pretty obviously just sex and/or rape. There's a huge difference between choosing a lifetime partner and having casual sex, no matter whether homo or hetero, and rape is always wrong. I honestly can't see why a God of love would reject love.
You have to follow your heart and your gut instinct, not *just* what you hear in any religious setting. You can still be a Christian and devote your life to Christ, without judging and hating a group of the population that you don't understand or know. God wants us to accept all the other imperfect humans around us, not act godly ourselves and judge other people!! God luck, keep studying and don't cause harm to anyone please.
Well, Jesus Christ doesn't say it's a sin, and nobody else in the Bible is literally god so you don't have to.listen to them. The New Covenant of Grace overrides all.
Okay, this caused more discussion than I thought it would. I should note, I definitely do not hate LGBTQIA+. I truly believe that they are entitled to love who they love and be who they are, and I want to support them, but it always makes me feel conflicted. That was what I meant.
I'm not a Christian, and I see the Bible as largely a work of fiction so you can take this for what you will. But my moral interpretation of the bible is that it shows you how people lived before Christ in the Old Testament, and then it shows you how Jesus came along and rewrote all the rules in the New Testament. They used to have to sacrifice animals to God in order to worship him, but Jesus put a stop to all that when he sacrificed himself. If that rule got changed, (a change which was the whole point of sectioning the bible into two parts), then I feel like it follows that Christians are also supposed to focus more on Jesus's teachings than whatever the old priests were telling people to do. Jesus basically just said to love others. That was it. Also, Moses never said you can't be gay in the 10 Commandments. I'll stop here and leave my opinions about the Council of Nicaea out of it.
Basically, what iEatStyrofoam said, and I know many ministers who are openly gay...
Less so of a problem since 2016, but being a huge Guns N' Roses fan. Sort of silly, I know, but in the early 2000s, it felt awkward to admit to most people. I know they are just regular humans in a rock band, but my heart beats a little faster when I see that logo or hear a few notes. The reunion has changed my life in that I've started travelling the world to meet up with fans and I've met some fantastic and wonderful people from that.
Yeah, that's me with Fall Out Boy. I'm just obsessed with them.
If you were to look out of my window right now, you'd see November Rain. Yes, I'm leaving. Don't rush me.
Minecraft. Everyone thinks it's some "cringey YouTuber game", but really it's a fun creative space where possibilities are practically endless! It was a big part of my childhood and still is a great stress reliever for me today!
I'm retired and I spend most of my day on my computer playing the game World of Warcraft. I love not having to work and playing WOW not only passes the time but it beats housework.
I played wow since the burning crusade and loved it. But then Shadowlands was announced. Hated the sound of it and what it involved so I stopped playing and gave my daughter's fiance my gaming computer.. I don't regret all those years playing it though
Shadowlands was fab until they made it too elitest to play, it turned raiding and doing mythics into sheer hell with toxic players.. The new areas are fun especially the Fae and Venthyr ( imagine the old dracula films how camp they are) but the Maw and Torghast I hate :)
Load More Replies...What realm are you on Hank? There's a guy from Ragnoros on here and i'm on Xavius :)
Dungeons & Dragons. I only just recently got into it and I want to start a campaign with my friends, but none of them play and think it's too complicated or too nerdy. I'm not even that nerdy of a person, I just like playing it because I can battle monsters and be someone else for a few hours at a time.
I'd definitely join you because I don't need any reason for wanting to pick up a blade and swinging it at any oncoming monsters.
Playing World of warcraft. And no, it is not like as it is shown in that famous South Park episode.
Oh it is, but after killing all those level one boars in Elwyn they would have shown as grey and not counted as kills :p I love WOW, I've played it since TBC, I have a guild of casual slackers on Xavius .. EU and have just invested in Dragonflight after finally playing the Beta. My main is a rogue btw :)
I do not really like the new UI 😂 but still my favorite game ever I was a big big shooter fan before but I had to come a conclusion.. Wow is the one and only game I want to play. Btw I am on Ragnaros, Horde, my main is bloodelf paladin and an undeadmage. ❤️

Load More Replies...Aside from my group of friends, some co-workers (and certain customers by proxy), and family, I don't really talk about video games too often. I think its a pair of stigmas that are tied to it as to why I don't talk about them. First, gamers are usually perceived as nerdy by the media (which I am, don't get me wrong), which is the lesser of the two in my opinion. And the other is because of all the scandals with certain games (like the Columbine Shooting, or Jack Thompson trying to tie video games to these horrific events, and even blackmail certain developers). Probably a lesser stigma, but if I do talk about games, most random people often assume I play the more popular franchise right now, like GTA, COD, Assassin's Creed, or other things like that. I usually don't have too many discussions with new people (unless I go to a specific thread for said game) when I talk about a new RPG/JRPG, or action game.
Having a chronic illness. I have endometriosis and it doesn't show unless I'm so inflamed I look pregnant. It hurts like hell some days so I was put on a opiate + nerve blocker cocktail... People either assume I'm a junkie, that I'm faking or feel sorry for me and treat me differently... Yes, it hurt, yes I lost my tubes, yes my husband and I can't conceive naturally, and yes it bloody sucks but that's our family's business. I don't want to be given diet advice, told to do yoga or know about the wide of your coworker who also has endo to be honest... Let me fight my fight, enjoy my good days and if I let you in to see the bad days, don't ask too many questions, just go with it and be there... trust me that's enough.
I'm sorry if it came up as me liking to have a chronic illness, I meant I still enjoy life despite being sick .
Awh, I recently watched a video about what it entails. You have my sympathies :-(
Anime/manga because there is a surprising amount of stigma around boys liking anime/manga (even though Pokemon is a manga/anime)
Where exactly? I've seen girls get immensely more grief for anime and manga than guys here in the US.
Same. My daughter caught hell and got made fun of because she is proud to have five Pokemon cards from the original release here in the U.S. they were gifts from my nephew. She has 765 cards total.
Load More Replies...I was friends with a girl who played Pokemon cards and had a Digimon pocket Digivice. I can say without any shame that she kicked my behind at both multiple times. Sadly we didn't stay in touch after I moved away (partially my fault) but those were good times.
Smoking... I know, I know... It's disgusting and I wish I didn't smoke... But when I light up, I do 'enjoy it'
It's the same for all things that are bad for us: Smoking, junk food, booze... we enjoy it while we're consuming them, but the more we have the more damage we do to our bodies. Everything in moderation. Except LoZ games.
This is my happy place, after a long day of work. This helps lessen the stress, anxiety....
The DSMP. People who don't know it think that it's stupid and nerdy, and people who do know it often criticize who you choose to watch. I love watching Karl, Tubbo, Wilbur, Tommy, Ranboo, and Techno [fly high and never die ❤]. They honestly help me to feel emotion when I have a hard time doing so due to mental health.
Witchcraft and vodun. Writing fanfic. Kink in general. I'm a bit of a foodie/food snob but...I love carb loading on buttered noodles. Which, now that I've thought of it I'm gonna go do it. Tropey lesbian romances (even the non steamy ones) Having a messy bedroom. Like actually I don't like it being tidy. Everything else can be tidy, idc, but my room needs have zones filled with my favorite stuff sitting out where I can see and access it easily. My bed is basically a bare mattress with a giant next of blankets and pillows all in the "wrong" order. Soft comforter goes on the bottom with me and everything else on top, the I pull it over me like I'm a giant pillow and sheet burrito.
In my country Voodoo is not something to fear. We don't call it that, it's Candomblé, Umbanda, or Quimbanda. But the Orixás are the same in Voodoo, Macumba, and Santería. I tell people that in my country 80% of people are Catholic, and 70% of people are Pagans. My very Catholic grandmother would take us kids to see her Mãe de Santo (priestess), if we were having bad luck, or got sick. And even today, i wear white on New Years, and when I take my kids to the beach, I make a little offering to Iemanjá and ask her for good weather and a safe stay. I should say for my American friends, I am a white guy, but in Brazil, this doesn't matter. The Orixás are from Africa, but like the African slaves who brought them there, they are integral to modern Brazilian culture. Axé ✌️
I'm a 19 year old boy, but I like ladies older than me; 25-30
Keep it up. It is a double standard that I hate. Women can get with men ten years their senior. You go for it dude.
had a fling with a 37 year old when i was 17. very educational and rewarding experience.
I’m hoping that that’s past the age of consent in your country

The problem is, friends would laugh at me if they find out
Load More Replies...Enjoying child books/ teen dramas (I'm 36). 'The Infinite Story' ist still one of my favourite books, also some things by Astrid Lindgren. And for teen dramas, puberty is such a intense time where so much happens that you can make a great story of. Off course there are some bad series in this genre, too but but there are loooots of great series. Gets my interest more than the 183627171 horror series in Netflix, sorry. Also enjoying 'esoteric' stuff. Im interested in different light effects and atmospheres, I like dreams and zodiac signs, I used to be interested in semiprecious stones and I love incence sticks. Not something I can tell a lot of people bc it gives the image of 50year old people in their caftans with crystal balls and no touch with reality. B******t.
Middle aged, retired teacher lady here. Love YA fiction. There's a lot of good stuff out there!
Probably Harry Potter and my knowledge on animals
Nickel back… yeah, I said it
I, I'm driving back in black, just got my license back. I got this feeling in my veins, this train is coming off the track.
Look at this photograph. Actually, it's an incredibly detailed pencil drawing. Can you believe something like this is possible?
I love peace. Quiet times when my head doesn't hurt and no one is coming to me with yet another problem to solve. When I don't have to worry about who the next amoral president will be, (regardless of party) don't have to wish people would be less judgemental about their differences. (If someone is gay or straight, black or white, old or young, etc., why the hell do you care or judge? It doesn't impact you! Mind your business. Live and let live)! I just love when I find that harmonious place where the sun is shining or the rain is pounding or the winds are howling and there's no other person polluting my brain pan. No extra sensory b.s. from someone else's perspective. Only the peace you can find by focusing on whatever diety you believe in or inner strength you can grasp and enjoying the moment, no matter how fleeting it may be. That my fellow humans, is golden.
Nope. Mom, woman, sister, daughter and friend. Jackette of all trades, author and just another homo-sapien on the planet we all share.

It’s like a bad soap opera with fighting. Thank god my husband is so into it too otherwise I would have no one to talk to about it.
Mah wrestling fam! :-) You might also want to try PW NOAH, Stardom and TJPW in Japan as well. Also, some British feds like RevPro and Preston City Wrestling with some American ones like Revenge Pro and Absolute Intense Wrestling thrown in.
I love to research poisons & venoms - including history, creation, useage, reactions. Only my (very small & tight) social circle knows about it. Every other person - colleagues & bio-family - just know the crafty, punk that somehow knows nearly everything about everyone. What no one knows -- I made a few different ones and stored them away (out of reach for anyone but me) It's fascinating --- no, I never poisoned anyone (exception: the spiked punch at prom 2004) & I don't plan on doing so 😅
I feel like I'm gonna get judged here too but here I go- You know those videos in YouTube where you have little characters creating skits and stuff like that? Gacha videos? I'm a (very) small content creator for the Gacha community. Such a shame that everyone who makes these videos gets judged just because of a few bad or cringy people.
:0 finally gacha fans. it's so frowned upon because it's a "dressup game" and it's for "little kids" and it's "cringe"
ive never seen anybody dislike it because its a dressup game, in my experiance its mostly because of the exadgerated poses and cringe videos
Load More Replies...I actually like it too! I’m not a weirdo who’s into heat and such, but I love seeing cool edits, memes, and stories
The book Ender’s Game written by Orson Scott Card. I loved, loved, loved his books I read growing up (I was 10). They were a lifeline to a lonely introvert kid. There were some valuable lessons about compassion and critical thinking and many others, all told wonderfully in stories. But later on in life, I learned he was a homophobe, a radical Mormon (which ties him to religious, fundamentalist views), an extremist (is an active racist propagandist) and is a racist bigot. Philosophically, I cringe to remember I consumed the work of a “bad artist” but I also cringe at the thought of my lonely 11-year-old self continuing to be lonely having never read the novels. Sigh.
Enjoy the gifts that the author gave you. Like JKR, sometimes authors are all too real and flawed, alas. You got good stuff from this person, and that's ultimately what counts. Their issues are theirs as an individual to sort out.
Always depressing to discover that works we admire were made by bad people. Doesn't necessarily mean you have to stop enjoying it though. There's always piracy.
There’s also donating to or participating in causes he is against, to offset! hahaha
Load More Replies...I did, too. I hated how they overreached and so couldn’t do a part 2.
Load More Replies...I draw and write very violent things. My characters always have some terrible thing happen to them to start their storyline. One character just recently had his wife and two children killed in an incredibly gorey fashion because I, the dictator, needed to start him on a new pathway. Everything I draw is worse, because this stuff you can see. I'm not allowed to talk about it to other people in greater detail, so that should give you an idea of the level we're going for here. I enjoy it, but other people think I'm insane. Truth is, I was a kid with violent thoughts and terrible anger issues, and I let those out on others. Now I'm older, and the violent thoughts still persist. I'm still easily angered, and my anger often leads to violence. But I've learned, and now the only people affected by my own mental state are not real, at least not to anybody like me. Its therapy, but most people don't understand that. Not everyone who draws gore does it because their a maniac.
Being alone, or not being social. Oftentimes people consider me to be rude or arrogant due to this. But that's not true. I love to be on my own.
My Constitutional Rights. All of them.

Load More Replies...I think it's good that we have all of these rights, but I think people can abuse them! I think that's where the stigma and the problems set in
At first I didn't understand -- what kind of stigma does the Bill of Rights carry? Oh, yeah ... 2A. So I upvoted you.
Thai BL series. As in boy's love. I absolutely love watching them but never talk about them to anybody. These series are actually really good, great stories and great actors. It's like a guilty pleasure of mine.
Don't know what this is, but i used to love watching RuPaul's Drag Race. RuPaul is a way better queen that that English lady, and if she were to pass, I would wait 24 hours in that queue. I had a gay friend tell me that show was too gay even for him, but then he let slip something that one of the queens said in the show, and he was caught. Dude didn't want to admit Ru's greatness.
Urban Exploring. AKA going into abandoned buildings, drainage tunnels, etcetera, and photographing the places. While I consider it preserving history, very few people understand why I do this. That and it's a pretty dangerous hobby and I don't always have the owner's permission. If I'm honest, though, for me it's like a slow motion extreme sport.
I like the same. Once had a fellow urbexer pull me away from a 30-foot fall through a drop ceiling at Detroit's old Packard automotive plant. There's a picture of mine on Wikipedia of the dump truck that was dropped from a 3rd- or 4th-floor level of the place. Been there 3 to 4 times in all. Always good for safety's sake to have others with you. More than 2 pairs of eyes can make the difference between safety and injury or death. Also visited the former psychiatric hospital in the suburb of Northville a few times; got some very cool pictures from there. Also a couple of Port Huron sites, like the abandoned Grand Trunk railyards and an unfinished ice rink/community recreation complex next to an active shopping center. I enjoy the excitement of exploring places which are considered, and sometimes legally ARE, off-limits. But mostly I enjoy exploring these places and photographing the decay and reclamation by nature which occurs when such places are no longer useful to society.

I'm straight. If I ever mention being straight apparently all of a sudden I'm homophobic-
Literally nobody cares if you say you’re straight, unless you’re doing it in a obnoxiously superior way. The issue arises when you start with this victim mentality BS.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t a thing. Simply mentioning that you’re heterosexual isn’t a problem. I’m in the LGBTQ+ community, and I’ve never heard someone genuinely get offended by another person just mentioning that they’re straight. If you’re being called homophobic enough to warrant a post on the internet, then there’s clearly more to this story…
I am old enough to being childish without shame. I really think, that it is wrong to stop doing what you enjoy (so long as you do not hurt anyone), because there are some people out there who frowns upon it. And some times, I am sure that they are just envious.
It really shocked me when Travis Barker traded in his drums for a set of bongos.
