It's being able to be yourself around another person. Being able to sit with them and the act, mask, persona you've been showing the world just falls away. And it's not limited to romantic love with a significant other. It's a friend, sibling, parent, etc. It's freedom.

Love is that you can freely be yourself in the company of another and you are also that for that other. Love flows freely like a river and when the water hits the rocks you can talk or argue about it together and find the riverbed together. There's something casually effortless about it. When I met my husband, he felt familiar, friendly and lovable right away. I don't believe in love at first sight because I'm demisexual, so through rational thinking I understood him as my love after all.
