I am an empath (I can read other people’s emotions with a bit of effort) despite having mild Autism and have used this to prevent a few people from taking their own life. I can also “listen” to entire pieces of classical music in my head in fully orchestrated form with out actually having any music playing, conversely, when actually listening to music I can isolate specific instruments and either tune them out or tune all other instruments out, I used to play Violin/Recorder at school and could just keep to my own part even when in a full orchestra by only listening to the other violins/recorders.

Do not say in spite of. It is highly likely your neurodiversity is behind the skills you have. People see things like autism as a “negative” when in fact they can be very positive in certain areas and fields. Which is why companies are beginning to seek out people with neurodiversities for their skillsets.

I can do the first one too! But not in your situation... I do get overwhelmed with the amount of excitement I feel from other people, and if I'm in a bad mood and everyone else is cheery, I get panicked cuz I can't reciprocate those feelings to match everyone around me!

I remember songs extremely well. If I haven't heard a song for a decade I can still remember the lyrics and if I turn on the radio mid-song I can just sing along from where the song is even if it's a chorus. I suppose there must be some nearly-silent differences between otherwise totally identical parts of (almost) all songs? It's weird because with pretty much everything else I have very bad memory. But songs? Yeah! That's a strength of mine (even if I have a less than good singing voice. Lol).

I'm sort of a mimic. Being an only child, when I played with my toys, I learned how to recreate the sounds that they should make, very well. Then, after watching the Police Academy movies, I fell in love with the talent that Jones had of making various everyday sounds. My go-tos are: a baby crying, different bird tweets, a dentist's drill, and impersonating cartoon character's voices. The crying baby always freaks people out for some reason.

I can tell if there is an infiltrating non Lego block mixed in a large bunch of blocks via sound. When searching through huge bins of blocs at a used Lego store (looking for a specific replacement piece) I would tell the store owner of the offense (Lego lovers will understand!) and most of the time be able to single it out quickly.

I can find 4 leaf clovers like nobody's business. I pressed & laminated over 200 to give to the guests at my wedding. I have probably 500+ pressed in pages of books at home right now. I have found 5, 6 & 7 leaf clovers, too. I can be walking at full speed and stop and pick one. It's like they just pop out at me the way I imagine images of those "magic eyes" books do to people (interestingly enough I have never been able to see those.) Too bad they aren't actually imbued with magical luck or I'd be living the dream. I like to call this my unmarketable skill.

I don't have a photographic memory, but I am an information sponge. I can recall things from as far back as when I was 18 mos old in vivid detail. For example, at Ponderosa on New Year's Eve, 1971, I dumped a glass of coke in my lap. My dad took me to the bathroom and changed me into his undershirt. The shirt was jade colored and had a breast pocket. I can also see the entire spectrum of visible color and can fold my tongue in every direction.

I too have a pretty good recall memory. I remembered my first birthday party. A relative brought out a picture once of me on my first pirthday with my cake in front of me. I had never sern the picture before (it was in black and white) and I proceeded to tell everyone how I remembered that day. I described my yellow dress, the vanilla cake that had a pink plastic ballerina figurine on it (which had been removed by the time the picture was taken, but I remembered it), I remembered my Aunt Elsie and Uncle Ed were there though they were not in the picture. My family was awestruck that I knew and remembered all those details. For years I would freak them out when we got together by bringing up stuff that I remembered that they thought I was too young to know.

Yes sometimes although I AM used to it. I came into it when I started puberty. It seems to have passed through generations of the female members of my family on my mother's side. My mum was and still is able to predict deaths too. The thing is we can't prevent it and we don't know who, only that we know we will be told of a family member or friends death within a few days of smelling the freshly cut grass or roses. When I or my mum put on floral perfume we always let each other know so we don't automatically think the worst.

Can also read/transliterate about 5 or so non-latin scripts (Runic/Gr/Ru/Ar/Hebrew). Oh, and recognise most written language, including Inuit, Mongolian, Tibetan... fairly obscure ones.. Iike if I see it written I can say "that is such and such". Obviously really obscure ones like small jungle tribe languages etc., no, but anything bigger than about 5 million speakers, sure. Show me a sample of Lithuanian, Hungarian, Finnish, and Polish, for example, and I can tell 100% which is which. Obviously artificial or forced "language" differences I can't tell, so if you ask me whether this is serbian or montenegran, I'm going to say "same thing", ditto moldavan or romanian. Anyway. Reason I can do this is we were forced to learn Afrikaans during apartheid and I saw how similar it was to english and then got interested in this topic.

I can lucid dream. Not every night, and I don’t really get to choose when, but occasionally when I dream I can control who shows up, what I do, where I am, and when the dream ends/I wake up. Sometimes I enjoy it, and sometimes I don’t, especially because I often dream of big crowds and it exhausts (yes, even though I’m sleeping) me to try and control all those people, so mainly I just leave every one else alone. That’s it, not all that special. Oh, and 🇺🇦

That's pretty cool. So the people who show up do they have to be people you know? I want to know how I get Ryan Reynolds to show up in my dreams.

    Community Member
2 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

I don’t get to choose how they show up, like for example I’ve wanted my best friend to show up and the dream ended with me getting ran over by her, but yes, if I think about people they show up. I don’t really know how I do it, but it mainly happens when I’m either really tired, really lonely, or both.

yes! I don't lucid dream much anymore, but on the once a year occasion it happens for me, I realise how I am asleep and need to rest, so don't try to revolutionise everything. I turned last lucid dream from me stressing about overstaying my visit at the home of one of my favourite bands to just enjoying spending the night with them.

This is on apple laptops. They have this problem if the power cable isn't earthed/grounded. In my country you have to have three pins. However their chargers only have live/neutral, so as current builds up it sits in the chassis (conductive), and sparks off sharp corners or edges into your hand/wrist. Super annoying. Mine does it all the time.

I can bend my thumbs backwards and touch my writsts. When I was younger I'd sometimes tell people that I could bend my thumb so it touched my wrist and nobody would be impressed as they all just pushed their thumbs forward and touched their wrists. I'd smile and say "no, no. Like THIS!" And I'd bend it backwards and laugh as the horror in the people's faces became more and more clear. 😂 usually I'd be told to never do it again. Lol. And that's how I've avoided many bad encounters with guys who initially were more interested in me than I was in them.

🇺🇦 I guess the strangest talent I have is befriending babies with ease. I volunteer in a nursery, so this is a useful skill to have as I can get the babies to calm down and allow the parents to go to the church service. Also most babies love me, including My cousin who literally hates most people, including my brother. Because I befriend babies and intimidate others. How sweet. Oh, and I can figure out musical pitches by ear and easily play my oboe (managed to get it first try). With figuring out pitches by ear, I’ve been composing music.

I practise origami, the japanese art of folding paper into something without the use of a binder such as tape and glue. You can also have small cuts in the paper fpr example with Senbazuru, which can be in the form of kissing cranes. I dont know if this counts as unique but it really helps me and i wish i started a few years younger it would have made that period of my life easier by far! Please try it out and start with something easier than Crane and build up to that model its very useful. I also learn the piano but im pretty bad at that. Drawing sometimes helps me when i feel really bad at origami/ like it isnt a good talent but i like it at the moment!

A few times friends heard it as well and they went to look but there was nothing to see. I have heard laughter right behind me when there was nobody in sight and nowhere to hide for a long stretch. I'm pretty sure I've chimed in on this before, but ... I can roll up hills. You know how, when you were a kid, and you'd roll down hills by making yourself as cylindrical as possible? Of course, you could never roll straight down because of the width of your shoulders; you'd end up askew at the bottom of the hill. Well, I never would have thought of this if I hadn't been with my son, who was 4 at the time, but I just decided to try it, and it was amazingly easy! I think most people could probably do it. I don't know if I can still do it; that was 30 years ago. I don't know if being extremely good at puzzles counts as a superpower, but being 60 and able to see close up certainly does.
