I need some mushy-goodness to cheer me up.

So when my now husband asked me out for our first date I was 18, living with my friend in a city that was kind of a hole for him to pick me up. I suggested that he pick me up at my parents house for his convenience. Also he told me that we were going to a party. So I brought my absolute fave hangin out outfit- jordash jeans, great sweater and shoes. I looked great. So my now husband shows up at my parents house dressed the ef up. He looked so handsome and I’m in jeans and a sweater and all my other clothes are mikes and mikes away. Turns out the party was actually a wedding reception in the private home in probably the richest, oldest, classiest neighborhoods in lower Michigan. Ya know what this cool guy did? We stopped at his place so he could change into jeans so I wouldn’t be the only one. Married that dude 40 years ago. I love him.

Oh, I can't think of any super good ones. My cousin and his wife knew each-other since they were little kids, but she never noticed because his family had a whole bunch of boys and they were all younger than her. The way they got together was their families (and other friends) went on a skiing trip together. It was her first time, so he switched to snow-boarding (which he hadn't tried before) so that they were always the slow "newbies" together. So they spent the whole weekend wiping-out and laughing about it together. I guess it worked, because they're married now.😂

My dad "kissed" my mother's dog before he actually kissed her, and he didn't even know their first date was a date, since they had met through a mutual friend while my mom was dating someone else. Up until they got enaged, their relationship was basically my dad not knowing what was happening, while my mother (who is best described as aggressively exuberant) tried to get him to take a hint. Polar opposites in personality and childhood (only child vs two younger siblings, kinda nerdy law student who likes history and video games vs public policy major who plays rugby and crew, born in raised in NC vs grew up outside of Boston), but they somehow got married and have me. Speaking of me, I'm basically both of them in one person. I look really, REALLY, similar to them both, I have a weird mix of Northern and Southern terms in my vocabulary, and I somehow manage to be passive, aggressive, pessimistic, optimistic, logical, and kind of irrational all at once.
