How do you know if you are gender fluid or non-binary? I don’t think I am, it just confuses me.

Non binary usually means you dont feel like you’re a boy or a girl and always feel the same, genderfluid usually means sometimes you feel like a boy, a girl or neither and it can change, hope that helps explain?

Genderfluid is (like the name says) when your gender is fluid, so it changes. nonbinary is when you don't feel like you are either fully a male or a female, and you identify with a gender outside the binary genders

so i told my parents that im moving out and cutting contact with them the week if not the exact day i turn 18 (still years away) im genderfluid and pan, i havnt came out to them because both my parents are transphobic and slightly homophobic. both of them are toxic and my dad was calling me a selfish asshole to leave my family thats fed and housed me since i was born. i have multiple mental disorders that they think i fake, my mom even says they dont exist (i was diagnosed with 3 by a counseler that was in the middle of trying to find someone thats allowed to test for the other ones on minors but they moved) they also force me to go places like the beach or amusment parks which give me anxiety to the point where ive started crying in the middle of a crowd. am i in the wrong? sorry for the long post

If you haven't already, check out the book Educated by Tara Westover. Queen of religious family trauma. Your situation isn't nearly as rare as you may think. Look for people who have gone through similar things to find a support system outside of toxic family.

No! If you don’t want to live with people that force you to do things that make you uncomfortable and don’t believe you have mental issues, then that’s okay! It’s your life, and if you don’t want them to be a part of that, it’s your choice. They might feel like you should talk to them after all they have done for you, but it sounds like they need to think about what’s important to them.

No. You are amazing and valid, and its their own fault if they cant see that

I am Chinese/Japanese, born in China. Am I a person of colour? My skin is average for Asian folks and many people have given very different answers on whether I’m a person of colour or not. This was not meant to offend :)

Yes. I typically think of a person of color as someone not Caucasian.

Typically that's referred to in the Asian category.

I think so 🤷. I don't think you're considered white, but probably not colored either.

You are what you feel like. The rest are just OTHER PEOPLE's labels. :)

How do I know if I’m really bisexual or gay, since I’m teetering between the two? And then how do I come out? I have several LGBTQ+ friends, but they provide little advice. thanks, pandas :)

It took me so long to figure that out ], i eventually decided i was a biromantic lesbian but you don't have to pick a label.it really helps me, but for some people, they prefer not to choose. One other possibility is Omni, for what you are describing which is the same thing as bi, but you have a preference towards one gender. I hope this helps.

Personally, I don't think you have to choose a category? Or label... Whoever you're attracted to is whoever you're attracted to, it may not even be that you're attracted to a certain gender but rather someone's personality or mindset. As to how you come out... Just say that you're not trapped by the traditional standards of society on who you choose to love. I'm probably not helping you at all but it's worth a thought.

It just takes experimenting. It's alright to be confused, it's nearly impossible to figure it out exactly for a while. Experiment with both guys and girls, and you'll find yourself. As for coming out, I say just tell people. If they don't like it, you don't need them as a friend anyways.

Unless you do not want to because sexuality is not all about sex!

I'm embarrassed to say I don't understand what makes the LGBTQI+ community angry when others voice that whatever you are now, or choose to be in the future, you are physically born a male or female or intersex. You may be born with a certain identity different from your physical body. I accept everyone as they are, encourage everyone to be who they truly are, but I don't understand why all the rage when it's brought up that everyone was FACTually born a certain gender? Just something I've wondered. Love you all

If you actually look at the science, "biological sex" is bimodal but by no means binary.

Chromosomes are fond not to be just xy and xx but a whole lotta tother things because many are intersex via chromosomes.

Because USUALLY when people say that, it's them being transphobic to us. I have no problem knowing that I was born a female. I have problems when someone says "BUT you were born a female" when I tell them I don't identify as a female

How do you know if you like someone for sure? Like, how do you differ between a feeling of a good friendship or romantic interest? This may seem pretty stupid, but I really can't tell and no one's ever been willing to help clarify for me.

My best advice is to think about it for a while. I definitely know what you’re talking about, but I’m that situation, for some reason I just thought of them differently. If you want to know for sure, become friends with them first, and see if you still want more.

Think about them as a romance, picture it, do you feel comfortable, dislike it, or want it?

I have no friends. Only romantic interests. But if you spend more time with them/talk to them more it should become more clear.

Express the level of liking you experience NOW, and see where it goes. Why label it? I've seen a decade of friendship turn romantic, and I've seen what started as purely sexual interest turn into a profound, faceted yet non-romantic friendship.

I'm not of color, but I live in a city where Caucasian is the minority and I've gotten racially bullied. Is it ok to be offended?
