When I was maybe two or three we lived in Anchorage Alaska. Met 50 so I'm not sure the Iditarod even existed but there were dog races

The Iditarod was made official in 1973, so chances are you saw the Iditarod. It’s really a amazing event.

I worked at the winning level in dog sled racing and its bs biased articles like this one that are the problem. There is so much cruelty and messed up bs in dog sled racing and articles like this make it harder for people to take the issue seriously. The netflix show "losers" about aly zirkle. One guy says "the dogs are not their teammates, they used as fuel to be burned in pursuit of victory." Mushing can be humane, but racing can't. It just took me working in racing to see the issue and take it seriously. Ive worked with animals for most of my life, i work at a dog shelter now, i have plenty of sad stories and I know life isn;t always pretty or easy. Dog sled racing really rattled me with how bad it gets. every thing bad about dog sled racing thats out there is true. peta, humane mushing, the sled dogs film, sled dog action coalition. All that stuff is true. The dodo has as article "the iditarod is worse than a nightmare for dogs" and its accurate, its just like my old job in racing

Not only are they cute, but they help keep the dogs paws from getting sores and cuts.

Anyone who has ever been around working dogs will attest these dogs live for what they do. They get so excited when they know it's time to go.

they all live on chains. they get excited for anything. some sled dogs run faster off the line and others run faster once you are headed back home. Are they excited to run or eager to get it over with? There is no way to really know, but they do each have a unique personality. Aside from that, its a race. Its about winning. Its extreme. It sets the performance bar higher than it needs to be. So many dogs never make it to the races. You get rid of your slowest dogs until you have a winning team, thats just how it works. "you are only as fast as your slowest dog." I worked at the winning level in dog sled racing and its incredibly messed up.
