At our hospital we have “dofficers” - You have to don & doff your PPE in front of a dofficer to make sure you do it the correct way and in the correct order.

Yes, my late husband was an RN in ER, Flight and ICU for many years. It's amazing how technical the job is, and you are right that a doctor normally has no clue how to set this up (they're crap at CPR too, which ICU nurses can do in their sleep).

I’ll equally thank everyone involved because it takes an entire team to care for patients, and they are ALL vital. If physicians were expected to know the set up, they would know it, but that is not their role. My husband works 15 hour days, 6 days a week, and also pulls 24 hour shifts, while making critical decisions... if you’d prefer to do that, become a physician, but don’t downplay their hard work.

I'm a nurse and I really don't appreciate the whole "doctors versus nurses" thing. Our jobs are different, but we are all on the same team.

OMG!!! @Teresa Thomas - you are so right! A doctor would look at that with fear in his/her eyes, look at the nurse and throw their hands up!

Why do you need to make this claim? This is not about the competence of doctors or nurses. This about a battle of qualified men and women against a disease while there are about 70 million Americans denying that this is happening. There's absolutely no reason to make this another "Oh, look how women are better than men" crap story. SMH.

ummm, doctors know just as much if not more, and i know youre just saying that "a woman could only do this", by saying nurse. trust me honey, your just as bad as the people who want unequal pay

I hope you don’t get it either, and that nobody else gets it of course. Be sure to wear your mask at work, even when it feels unnecessary or inconvenient. That will help you be less vulnerable at least.

That’s not a bad attitude. Fear is bad for the immune system too. Still, it is scary. I’m glad you and your husband recovered though! What does it feel like to be part of the group of people who had covid and were kind of a part of history now? Do you worry about your future health at all? Just curious.

Yes, some people carries their photos to make it better for patients. I guess seeing all personal in PPE should be really scary

The hospital I was at had them taped to their foreheads. It was nice to know who was under all the PPE.

Yes. It brings a bit of humanity to a scary situation.

If you look closely at the cording at the top of the photo, you can see that it's generally worn on the front for patients to see, but has been pushed to the back out of the way temporarily.

the photos allow the patient (and co-workers) to recognize who is the person under all that PPE.

Based on body mass, I would say the doctor is male & the photo MAY be of his wife/girlfriend, but more likely a joke from the other Docs. When you work in these conditions anything that gets a laugh is fair game.

Yes...they wear pictures of themselves to know who's who under all the PPE,and also to give patients a more human perception of their caregivers
