For most of us, rescuing a pet is a huge responsibility, but it's the best thing that can happen to the animal shelter residents. To prove the power of a loving home, proud owners from all over the world are sharing photos of their family dogs before and after they were rescued. Bored Panda has decided to compile these heartwarming dog adoption images into a list, and it will clear any doubts whether or not it's worth picking up a pup from a kennel.

From sad faces in cramped cells to wide smiles on king size beds, these k9s found happiness in their new dog rescuers homes and can't hide their emotions. You can understand the difference pet adoption makes to a shelter inmate only if you see one, so scroll down and meet the lucky ones!

Find the monster who did this to another living crature and strike him with righteous retribution. Show no mercy.

Had I not known that this dog would do well in the end I wouldn't manage to even look at the first picture because it's so awful. It's unbelievable how anyone that skinny even can stand up. :(

The ears look so diff because malnourished and starving dogs bodies start to break down cartilage to feed on. So the ears look so diff due to this. And he's filthy in the before pic. Look closely though same exact markings. This Doggo is one lucky monkey now :))

I wasn't saying it wasn't the same dog! I'm sorry if I came across that way. I was just pointing out how much a little TLC can really change an animal in need.

Doesn't even look like the same dog. The ears are even different. Wow. Crazy what a little TLC can do.

Just LOOK at the difference good care and quality food does to a dog. This looks like a completely different dog, even his coloring is more vibrant in the after. <3

I won't comment on everyone but see what love can do these transformations are amazing... If only we lived in a world where all animals and people were treated with love and respect....but a little bit makes a difference.

Beautiful I had the experience and pleasure of adopting a breeding pit bull who was thrown in the streets at 23 pounds since she could no longer have pups, who served as bait dogs😡😡😡she was rescued by BWR and adopted by me after she was healthy; see has since passed away from internal bleeding; but due to some very kind people learned how to smile

You shouldn’t be able to adopt if you are going to bring them back, but I guess that is better then having them abandoned.
