The internet is a wonderfully chaotic place. One minute you’re scrolling past cute cat photos, the next you’re staring at a food combo that absolutely shouldn’t exist. And then there are the texts — unfiltered, unhinged, and often shared without a second thought.

Today, we dove into the depths of r/TrashyText to find texts of all kinds: messages, notes, screenshots, and conversations that are equal parts questionable and hilarious. Keep scrolling to see the ones that left people doing a double take.

It is a government-provided pre-paid card that can be used only for food that only very low income people are eligible for in the U.S. It used to be called "food stamps" and some people still use that language

About 13% of people have an intelligence only slightly above mental disability, and they live in this society too and get medical results too. That's why we should use language that is immediately clear for EVERYONE. It's not hard to say "The test shows you have this or that disease" or "the test shows you don't have it", there is no need for language like "your test result is positive" which is counter intuitive for people who have not learned/understood this yet.

Actually, it means you tested positive for the disease/issue. There is still a chance that this is a false positive. The probability of receiving a false positive depends on both the occurrence of the disease and the accuracy of the test.

Hating being a mother doesn't equal hating your child. If you think that your parents/partner/friends loved every second of being a mother, then you are delusional. Until you have a child, there is no foolproof method to know if you'll like being a parent.

With so many people online at the same time, using the internet responsibly has become more important than ever. Governments and platforms are starting to step in to set boundaries, especially for younger users. In Australia, for example, kids under 16 are now banned from using major social media platforms. New accounts can’t be created, and existing ones are being shut down. It’s the first rule of its kind and has caught the attention of countries worldwide. The goal is to create a safer digital space. Whether it works long-term remains to be seen, but the conversation has definitely started.

If that's still going on, she COULDN'T get it earlier. But sure, stomp on her, that's easier than get your fat ars.es up and demand changes to the law.

To help out for those who don't know... in the US a woman is very very likely to be refused sterilization unless she has 2 or more kids, is over 30, and in some cases has confirmation from her spouse that he is on board with the procedure. My friend had to go to over two dozen doctors to find anyone who was willing to do the procedure because she was only 25 and " what if she marries and her husband wants kids" So that's why she has kids and is now getting sterilized. The literal guidelines in med school are to not sterilize someone unless they meet the above conditions or have a genetic condition or health condition that would make pregnancy life threatening.

At least she has realised that it would be a mistake to have more babies and she's doing something about it. Many people don't and continue to have babies when they are already struggling with the children they have. We also need to remember that reproductive coercion is a thing.

According to officials, these rules aim to reduce the harmful effects of social media’s addictive design. Many platforms are built to keep users scrolling endlessly, often pushing content that isn’t great for mental health. For young people especially, this can affect confidence, mood, and overall wellbeing. The concern isn’t just screen time, but the type of content being consumed. Endless comparison, unrealistic standards, and viral negativity can take a toll. Slowing that cycle is the hope behind these changes. It’s a reminder that online life can have real-world effects.

In large parts of the world it's seen as normal, and in a lot of history too. When you think about it, it's kinda weird that we feel so grossed out by it. Because if they're not having chrildren, then it's not gonna matter at all. And we don't feel grossed out by people with heriditary diseases getting into relationships, even though they might get pregnant and have a kid with the same terrible disease too.

On an individual level, posting responsibly matters just as much. It’s easy to hit “send” or “post” without thinking twice. But once something is online, it can spread far beyond your control. Before sharing, it helps to pause and think about the impact. Is it misleading, harmful, or discriminatory in any way? Could it affect someone else negatively? Even jokes can land badly in the wrong context. A little extra thought can save a lot of trouble later.

I kind of agree. My daughter was incorrectly diagnosed with ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) and they wanted to put her on a slew of pills at age 6. I ran from that office and never looked back. We fought for someone else to take a gander. The school district finally got the diagnostician to look at her when she was 11. She has severe depression and anxiety, is autistic and ADHD plus OCD tendency. Now that she's received some therapy, she's doing much better! It took me fighting constantly for 5 years to get someone to listen!

But you got more than one doctor to check her out. That was the right thing to do. If you had stopped after the first doctor and just “trusted your mother’s instincts” it would have been bad. Your child needed a doctor, and you did the right thing and kept looking until you found the right treatment.

You should always carry your own supplies in your pocketbook. Also talk to your OB/GYN about it, they can either try meds or a procedure to help. My sister had heavy cycles and clots. Her GYN did a hydrothermal ablation when she was around 40 & no more cycles. She was a very happy camper.

Except that's not true. If clothes caused r*pe, then every male who saw the outfit would be unable to stop himself from committing r*pe. So if a woman wears an outfit that you think is too revealing, and one man out of the hundreds that saw her actually attacked her, you've proven it's an issue with that man, not something the outfit compels men to do. Also, eff off with blaming victims.

Privacy and safety go hand in hand when spending time online. Oversharing personal details can put people at real risk. Things like your full date of birth, home address, or phone number should never be public. Even small bits of information can be pieced together by the wrong people. Keeping some parts of your life offline is actually smart, not secretive. The internet doesn’t forget easily. Protecting your personal information helps keep your digital space safer and calmer.

Posting fake or misleading content is another slippery slope. Whether it’s exaggerated stories, false claims, or edited screenshots, misinformation spreads fast. What starts as a joke or a “harmless post” can quickly snowball. People believe what they see, especially when it’s shared confidently. That’s how rumors and false narratives take off. Being honest online builds trust, even in casual spaces. Not everything needs to be dramatic to be interesting.

Does he think people should have stayed and do what... hold the house in place with their hands, like they're some kind of superhero who´s stronger than a hurricane?

Louisiana Cajun. I spent 4 months in Houma, after the Deep Water Horizon explosion and oil spill. Houma along with the rest of Terrebonne Parrish is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the food is incredible. But they have alligators, so I never want to go back. Oil and gas industry provides most of the high paying jobs. Crabbing and shrimp are also significant industries with a lot of small independently owned boats. The area was, until the last 80 years or so was relatively isolated and influenced by French, Acadian, English, African, Spanish, and others and as such was able to develop its own unique Cajun dialect. It’s part of their unique culture. Similar to how Hawaiian Pidgin was created by influences of Hawaiian, Filipino, Japanese, English, they have developed not only an accent but their own creole language.

They deserve a punch in the face for using that font.

What they did to Laika is heartbreaking but testing on a child wouldn't be better.

Yes. The face was a mixture of trust and confusion. So very sad for Laika. If you aren't prepared to do the job yourself, then don't exploit the vulnerability of other living things.

I think they're talking about the Russian dog who burned up on the return trip. You want to send your kids out for that???

Must have been in response to some movie they saw, I'm guessing.
