YouTube is also the most popular platform when it comes to entertainment. A whopping 84% of Americans report using it, and it's probably because it offers the widest range of content. There are podcasts, commentary, gaming, sketch comedy videos, and even shows you would regularly watch on TV that upload their content on YouTube.
Reddit, on the other hand, is more for niche communities. 26% of Americans use Reddit regularly, but it's more of a place for fandoms, gaming, hobby communities, meme culture, and just good ol' trolling. Of course, it can also be a breeding ground for misinformation, but such is the way with self-regulated communities.

Fighting misinformation on Reddit is a Sisyphean feat. As the moderator of r/politics, u/Qu1nlan, explained to NPR in 2019, "We are a team of about 50 moderators on a subreddit of 5.6 million people. We don't have resources that a team like Facebook or Twitter might have with tons and tons of paid fact-checkers," he went on.
"So generally, when we see fake news that we know is not factually correct, we'll go ahead and encourage our user base to go ahead and fact-check it themselves and also comment – say, well, here's why this news is fake, and here [are] the sources to back it up. And here's why you shouldn't believe everything that you see on the Internet."

Reasons are 1) everyone (around here) does it, 2) going barefoot outside might hurt the soles of the feet, 3) feet may get cold. Unless we've had heavy rain "all the c**p" I drag on the soles of my shoes is still a very limited amount. I wouldn't recommend licking them (or the pavement, for that matter), but "outside" is not a toxic wasteland per se, and my floors get cleaned regularly in any case.

Cats use a litterbox, step in their own waste (dogs, too), then walk on floors, and anywhere else they please, for that matter. With both dogs and cats, I vacuum once a day, mop twice a week, and wear slipper shoes in our home. After I dress to leave for whatever, work, appointment, visit a relative, the shoes are part of the outfit. I live in a country where the majority is shoes off, and almost everyone I know has cats and/or dogs. I don't put my shoed feet on furniture, therefore, I'm not taking my shoes off.

This is stupid. I don't love having a car that can't be fixed without a laptop either, but I don't want a car without anti-lock breaks (microcontroller), I don't want to pay for twice as much fuel as is strictly necessary (engine management system), and I don't want to either manually wind my windows or risk a child being choked by a powered window coming up when they've got their head out (there's a microcontroller that detects that and prevents injury).
