@Lemonenema I would rather be foolish and play it safe than dismiss a potentially serious condition as trivial. A cat cannot tell you in words whether something is harmless or not.

Accessories like this aren't a good idea on cats, especially when outdoor wandering - IF it is fully strapped across the chest, or too tight under the front legs to wriggle out of it if snagged.
