Christianity Worldwide: Unity in Belief, Diversity in Practice
The reach of Christianity is undeniable, with 2.1 billion followers worldwide. According to History, Christians are monotheistic, or in other words, they believe that there is only one God, and their beliefs revolve around the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus (1).
There are other subgroups among Christians. In a 2024 feature for How Stuff Works, Mitch Ryan writes that Christians are generally aligned in the belief that Christ died to forgive sins, believe in external salvation, and are universally awaiting Christ’s second coming (2). According to Ryan, Catholics have the most significant number of followers among Christians, with 1.3 billion.
The biggest differences among the Christian groups and sub-religions typically revolve around the practice of the sacred tradition of mass, the holy orders, the structural hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and the way the Virgin Mary and the saints are respected in Roman Catholic doctrine.
Many of these different subgroups among Christians feel that they have a unique set of beliefs. In reality, though, they draw more strength in their similarities.

The Bible: The First Book Ever Printed
Christianity plays a more important part in history than we think. According to Will Lubaroff (Walworth, 2024), the Catholic Bible was the first book printed on a modern printing press (3).
Johannes Gutenberg introduced printing technology to 15th-century Europe. He invented a movable system that used individual, reusable letters that could be rearranged to create different words and pages.
The invention of Gutenberg’s press led to the printing of the Gutenberg Bible, which significantly contributed to the spread of Christianity during the 15th Century and played a key role in evangelizing the majority of the Western world.
Only a few copies of the Gutenberg Bible remain today, some six centuries since they were initially printed. Most of the remaining copies are preserved in museums and are highly sought out by historians and religious scholars.

How Comedy Engages Serious Topics Like Religion
Lauren Feldman, an associate professor at Rutgers’ School of Communication and Information, thinks that people often incorrectly assume that comedy — because it is funny and entertaining — is inappropriate for communicating about serious issues like politics or religion (Rutgers Today, 2020)(4).
Many people believe that humor distracts from important topics and deters the proper spread of a belief system. However, according to Feldman, it is because comedy is funny and entertaining that it can engage and motivate people around challenging issues.
Feldman adds that because comedy pulls people in and creates a positive emotional connection, it inspires engagement and action. When it comes to religion, if the comedy is conceived and executed in literally “good faith,” then it may be more beneficial than originally perceived.
So, as serious as the doctrines may seem, religion finds a place in the comical world of memes by sharing ideas that would otherwise be too complicated to discuss.

Creation Wonder
Because the word “day” only represented a certain period of time.....It was not a day (24 hrs sunrise to sunrise) as humans understand it......The Bible says WITH THE LORD A DAY IS LIKE A THOUSAND YEARS AND A THOUSAND YEARS ARE LIKE A DAY. 2 Peter: Chapter 3, verse 8.
Load More Replies...So you really think there was no time when humans didn't exist?
Load More Replies...It was the first day that he created light and dark...so this isn't possible? Haha what
during creation period, time was not created as God transcends both time and space. God did not develop a day based on when the sun rose and set but rather time was based in God's eyes of what time is for Him. Time was later created by man after sin entered the world.
_OR_ applying occums razor~ you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about and you're just trying to make a fabricated man-made story fit into the confines of physics and the known universe.

Days in Godś timing could be millions of years because He is beyond human time and space
Because it's not a literal day but a symbolic "day". Consider 2 Peter 3:8 "However, do not let this escape your notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.". I don't quite remember what it said in hebrew but it can be researched that it's about a long period of time rather than a 24h day.
Silly boy - first rule of biblical exegesis - Context! Context! Context! - On the first day, God created Light and separated it from the darkness and it was morning and evening the first day. Continue cycle till day 4. You receive an F in interpretation also lose points for expecting your modern definitions to apply to ancient civilizations! No ice cream for you!! 🤣
Because God separated the light from the darkness on the first day. God doesn't need a sun to create light.
Genesis 1 is a poem. Genesis 2 is more like a history account. The creation story is more about WHY God created the earth etc, than about HOW. The HOW question is more of a concern to curious scientific people. The WHY is a question everybody struggles with. All ancient people knew that the earth etc was created. Genesis answers the WHY question: God created Eden as His palace garden. In the beginning heaven and earth were joined. After the fall, heaven and earth were separated. At the end of Revelation the New Jerusalem comes down from heaven to earth: heaven and earth are joined back together. If you want to know more: look for The Bible Project on YouTube.
Ok, so why did he put the first people in it, tell them not to eat a specific fruit, bugger off, then punish them for being curious, something that he made them be? Why make people at all? If he wanted obedient little people who would follow his every command, why not make them like that to begin with? The whole story is suspicious.
Load More Replies...God created light on the first day. The sun was to provide warmth for animals and humans.
Load More Replies...Because there was evening & morning the requisite number of times beforehand. (The book makes more sense if you actually read what it says....)
"Evening" and "morning" are reliant upon the sun's presence... so the question remains valid.
Load More Replies...You don't need a sun for time to pass. Though we use the sun as a form of measuring time... So it technically still makes sense in as much as a religious text can.
True - you don't need a sun for time to pass. However. The sun is the foundation of how we measure time eg sunrise, noon, sunset, morning, day time, night time, day, week etc etc etc.
Load More Replies...Actually, no one knows how long these “days” were. There is a good chance these days weren’t 24 hrs. They could have spanned anywhere from 1 minute to 1 million years
A day is a 360 degree rotation of the earth, with or without the sun. An astronomer should know that.
A day is marked by the sun, and if they really were just two people in a garden then they wouldn't have the tech to do it. And the son caused the Earths rotation (in the sense that it created the Earth)
Load More Replies...Well, the definition of a day is a 360 degree rotation of the earth, and the sun is not needed for that.
In the beginning there was nothing. And then God said, "Let there be light!" and there was still nothing but you could see it a lot better.
Not quite. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. So, when He created light, there was quite a bit to see. However, on day one, God had not yet created any creatures with eyeballs. First things first. Creatures with eyeballs would come later.
Load More Replies...This is actually a serious theological question that can lead to many interesting thoughts and concepts about the creation of world and time.
You sound like you would have fit right in among Job's three friends. Job being the first Bible book to be written down, Job's three friends had not read Genesis chapter one either.
Load More Replies...A day is just an amount of time, with or without the sun, time goes on.
This is why I believe the seven day creation is representational and not a literal translation
Ha! So the sun was created to have some light for half of it.... makes perfect sense!
the crux of the legal argument in "to kill a mockingbird".... and anyone else questioning the legitimacy of a book written 300 years after the events, based on hearsay.

I like that these are mostly clean, and if you’re religious, they’re enjoyable. For those who are neutral and don’t care what people believe, they can provoke a bit of a laugh as well. Nice!
I lol'ed at Lazar getting down voted so hard I had to up vote him
Load More Replies...most of these are quite funny, but some are solely there to make fun of Chritiany and don't get me started on the comments of people who know basically nothing about christianity. Also a sneaky move on BP, interspersing memes with "facts" about christianity with no where to comment on them. Such as saying that Jesus was a Muslim prophet... WHAT? pay no attention to them.
Still it is correct. Other religions also believe there was a guy called jesus. But Jews and Muslims don't believe he was gods son. What is the problem?
Load More Replies...I like a good laugh, but some of these are insulting. Try doing a similar stunt with Islam.
i am a devout atheist but these were funny. honestly if jesus existed he probably would have been a pretty cool dude
Some of them aren't clean but I really enjoyed them it took the stress of 5th grade of me
Five years ago and nothing more? All these rage bait articles and listicles attacking ALL Christians is awful. But BP can only do this every 5+ yrs. Your Christian Pandas are about to be out the door.
