I volunteer at a food bank from time to time, and people sometimes drive up in nice-looking cars or SUVs. I don't judge. Maybe they. bought those vehicles before they got into financial straits, or maybe the owner of the car is picking up food boxes for someone who doesn't have a car.

Heck yeah Jenni! I specifically donated my old work clothes were in real nice condition for less fortunate people to be able to have, since now I work where I can wear t-shirts and jeans. I wasn't always as well off as I am now, and passing kindness on to strangers is one way I thank those that showed kindness to me when I needed it.

I'm a retired RN , and right now I need extra help due to stage 4 breast cancer that has pretty much spread throughout my body. Sometimes ( I use a walker) but my clothes are not rags either, and sometimes at the grocery store I feel like I'm being watched or judged.

Been homeless. You preserve your "nicer" clothes with every ounce of energy you've got for job interviews and the workplace. And yes, sometimes we shop for food on our way to/from these dress-nice occasions.

Thanks to donations I was able to wear good quality and even name brand clothes when I was homeless. And yes, I panhandled or (spanged) for a couple years. I began my journey to recovery from chronic homelessness in 2015 and have experienced some home insecurity, but kept a roof over my head. Today I have a secure permanent home and some of the clothes I acquired in those street years. It was the small gestures and kindness of strangers that impacted my life enough to change. God wants us to care for each other. Even those who don't deserve it at the time. It is not for us to judge or assume we know. I was a wonderful woman who did terrible things to survive.

It pains me that people are this ignorant. And if the beggars sold the clothes for more to get food money - they'd be bitched about as well.

I think the one that gets me is when the nails are all done and fake, fake hair and fake eyelashes, I work and cna't even afford all this fake c**p.

When I was young and very poor, I used to get clothes at goodwill or salvation army or the 2nd hand store. I could sometimes find GOOD used clothes, much better quality than if I bought new. I bought a green pinstripe 3-piece wool suit that I wore for many years. I was so sad when it finally gave up.

Can't emphasis this enough. Most of the clothing I've purchased over the years at thrift shops were high-quality, designer fashions, far too expensive for my budget had I purchased them at retail stores. Not saying there isn't fraud with SNAP and other federal welfare benefits, but don't base it on appearance.

Right on! Some elderly folks are having trouble paying bills, so they're applying for CalFresh or Snap. They may be well dressed because that's how they were raised. They might have had that outfit for 15 years.

Also they may have been doing well until recently and may just be going through a rough patch.

I worked in retail for years- women’s apparel Over the years I built up a pretty nice wardrobe. Now that I’m retired, I don’t dress up much so I donated to Dress for Success. It helps women find a decent working wardrobe

I don't judge folks who wear nice clothes. I do judge people who pay with the SNAP card and then whip out the $100 bill to pay for the booze and cigs... Doesn't happen all the time but I have seen it a couple times.

But when you follow them out of the store, or over to where they parked before they started panhandling, and they drive away in a better car than you own, it’s a good bet they are ripping stupid people off. Why don’t YOU refrain from making the judgement that others have not done their homework and know what they are talking about.

Don't know why people get so bent out of shape about drag queens and children. Every drag queen I've ever known has been very protective and nurturing towards children. The Queens know what it is like try find your voice and flourish in a society that often pushes for conformity.

Similar thing happened when I was in Paris around 2000. Ticket office staff for the metro were on strike, but drivers weren't, so the trains ran but no one paid to get on them!

When I was at school the bus stop where I and a school mate caught the morning bus was suspended due to road works and temporarily replaced with a sign on a concrete block. Coming back from school one day we moved the temporary sign about 100 yards down the road so we didn't have to walk so far in the morning. When the works were finished they reinstated the bus stop WHERE WE HAD MOVED IT TO! It's still in the same spot decades later. I went on to become a Civil Engineer, designing and building roads!

The point is to borrow a person that is different to yourself. If you want to know about being gay, or Christian, or Muslim, or transgender you can borrow someone who is that and they will tell you about it, I think it is a brilliant idea, as the internet cannot interact in the same way.

I am so happy you did this. It upsets me that instead of helping the people read they wouldn't let them go someplace fun. So instead of fixing the problem they were making people feel bad for having the problem.

OMG this is amazing. LOL. Maybe she could post an anonymous sign with tomato growing/caretaking instructions. Also, I do the same thing with my bee balm (also called wild bergamot) whenever I water it. I just rub a leaf between my fingers and smell it. SO GOOD.
