Jolanda Stokkermans is a married mom living in Koersel, a small village in Belgium, with two children and two Jack Russells. One of her superpowers is meal prepping. Roughly a year ago, Jolanda started creating easy recipes and taking pictures of them, and got so carried away with it, she began presenting the food on a plate in the shape of famous actors, gorgeous flowers, and adorable animals.

Jolanda, aka De Meal Prepper, forms the edible pictures in a realistic style and even paints them, too. Doing both requires immense attention to detail. For example, while balancing different components, the mother goes as far as using spices as watercolor pigments to add depth to the piece.

"When I started 'De Meal Prepper', it was meant to be about preparing food for several days in advance one afternoon, convenient for busy people and families," Stokkermans told Bored Panda. "Trying to search for nice stock photos on the Internet, I decided to take my own."

Stokkermans said she really got into the project, and the plates started getting out of hand. "Eventually, I ended up with human portraits, landscapes, and animals. My children told me to post pictures of my creations on Instagram. I listened, joined the platform, and now am at 14,000 followers."

The mom constantly has numerous ideas running through her mind. "In the beginning, I look in the fridge to see what ingredients we have. Sometimes I notice a special vegetable or pasta, and I come up with something new."

"I mostly use vegetables, tomato sauce, natural food coloring, soy sauce and spices to color the dishes. Everything on the plate is edible."

Each meal takes Stokkermans about 2-4 hours to create, depending on the difficulty of the subject and available ingredients, of course.

The mom said it's hard to choose which of her own pieces she liked best, but if she had to, it would be either the lion, the unicorn, the zebra, or the white tiger.

She also added that nobody should feel sorry for devouring her creations. "All of the plates are meant to be eaten."

Right now, she's working on several workshops, mostly online due to coronavirus and is planning to make a calendar.
