Figuring out how to make components and materials that you normally toss in the trash work as art inspired me to build these fabously detailed Fairy Houses.
The under structure of each is made from things like drinks containers, tubes, gum holders, juice containers, Dove body wash bottles. Lots of recycled elements and found objects.
I taught myself how to make these through trial and error. Some of the stones are styrofoam coated in a mixture I created too look like stone while others are stones found along Lake Michigan. The Puppy Palace, has a turntable crank that is a music box playing, “How much is that doggy in the window.” Some tops lift and there are lights inside…to see these in person is a real treat. I’m hoping to get a show at the Chicago Botanical Gardens.
I hope you enjoy looking at all the details.
