A Dog Trainer Who Allegedly Killed Or Sold A Dog In His Care Asked Not To Post His Texts On Social Media – Here They Are
After losing her family pet, Rachel Grace Tyrer from Jonesboro, Arkansas, says she can’t get any closure because of the dog trainer who was taking care of it at the time. She claims that her puppy, Ollie, went to Hunter Nelson’s Four-Legged Retrievers for a 4-week dog training program but ended up lasting 11 weeks there.
Rachel wasn’t happy with the prolonged puppy training stay, so she reached out to Nelson on multiple occasions, but judging from their conversation, there was always an excuse why the owner couldn’t see her dog. Eventually, she got a text saying that Ollie died and was buried. Rachel thought the circumstances surrounding her pet’s death were mysterious and suspicious, so she decided to investigate it, but according to her, Nelson wasn’t of much help. She even thinks Nelson might have resold the allegedly dead dog.
“We went to high school together and originally [he] had a good reputation,” Tyrer told Bored Panda. “Ollie was a little over two years old when I took him to the Four-Legged Retrievers for dog training classes. [At first,] Nelson was nice and understanding, [but] then slowly become extremely shady.”
The NEA Report got in touch with the alleged scammer, and he said that not everything Rachel has said is true. “It’s not a scheme and for sure not drugs, I don’t know why you would even say that,” he told them.
“Truth is [the] dog got bit by a snake [and] passed away. I should have taken [the] dog straight to [the] vet like I was supposed to do, but instead, I flipped and didn’t. [I] buried [the dog] correctly by all means, but I messed up and told her I did and shouldn’t have. Now, if you’d give me time to talk to [an] attorney, I’d greatly appreciate it by all means.”
Rachel has contacted the police, but they refused to help, saying it was a civil case. Searching for answers to this freak accident, she turned to the internet, asking if anyone knows anything that could help her. Scroll down to check out the conversation between Tyrer and Nelson she has shared and told us what you think of the whole situation in the comments.

“I couldn’t pay Nelson a surprise visit because he would not give me an accurate address,” Tyrer added. “I tried multiple times to contact other trainers to get his location, and no one had an accurate address.” And even though Nelson isn’t meeting with her, Rachel hopes to find her Ollie and is ready to do whatever it takes.

After four weeks and the first excuse, I would have turned up in person and caused so much problems they would have been calling the police. I feel very sorry for the family; but I don't know why she waited for so long without doing something.
Yes i am surprised of how she was so patient. After 4 weeks i would have gone to pick him up. Not that itsbher fault in any way. I cant believe how the police will not investigate. Its either a case of animal abuse or theft. I would expect that to be in the polices care...
Load More Replies...It was such a long conversation, that while i read it, my son who was in highschool, went to college, passed, joined army, did 3 tours, got married, had kids and now retired and sitting on porch sipping whiskey as a proud vet and asking me to tell if i have finished reading this post and hurry up to refill his glass.
Right? Seriously, at some point, I just stopped reading! She should have gone and retrieve her dog after the due time! Period.
Load More Replies...Sorry but how the hell could someone let what was supposed to be a 4 week "course" allow it to get to 11 weeks before thinking about taking action? I would have been there 1 day after the 4 weeks to at least see what was going on.
Right? I don’t think she actually cared for or loved that dog.
Load More Replies...This is such a strange story.. I mean, is that a normal thing to send dogs on 'boarding school' training? Surely you're not fit to be an owner if you cant give you dog basic training. Plus, training works a lot better if it is the actual owner administering it or at the very least the owner is there along side the trainer. I am not saying Hunter isn't in the wrong but I feel as if there was stupidity from both ends on this story! I could not go 4 weeks without seeing my doggo, let alone 10 weeks. I am heartbroken for Ollie and I hope the owner finds justice, however this to me is just like lazy, rich parents that send their children to boarding schools to be taught, so they don't have to do anything themselves. If you haven't got the time to train a dog, don't buy one. Sorry.
The only possible reason that I can think of is that she lives in some remote area where there aren't any local trainers to work with. I'd be very wary of sending an animal away. There was a news article a few years back about a guy who sent his horse off to a trainer to be schooled in calf roping or something like that and the trainer abused it to the point where it might not even be ridable.
Load More Replies...I don't understand why she accepted his excuses and didn't just go to his place to take her dog after the fist excuse. Further, she says he consistently missed the appointments they made where she was supposed to see her dog and train with him, he never sent her any updates either. That is incredibly suspicious and she should have demanded her dog back after he didn't show up to their appointments. The dog was probably already gone by then.
Texting takes way too long. If anything like that would have happened to my cat, I would have called and yelled so loud that he wouldn't need a phone to hear me, even if he was at the other end of the country! On second thought, I would have gone there to get my cat/dog/pet and yell at him in person.
Talking/going is faster, but texting means she has it in writing for evidence later.
Load More Replies...Honestly? Both the trainer and the owner "sounded" uninterested in poor Ollie. Dead or alive, his owner sounded like she was discussing grocery shopping at certain points... "Your dog was bitten by a snake etc etc etc" Her response: "Yeah I got ya." Her response should have been "Oh my god how is he doing? Was he in shock? Is he hurting? Can I come see him now? Nevermind, I'm already on my way."
She even said the death of the dog wasn't issue, but the trainer's lies were. It sounds like she didn't care about that dog at all and only became concerned when she thought he sold him.
Load More Replies...The moral of the story is, don't send your dog away...at all. Work with a local trainer who can come to your house or work with you in a group in your local area. Why did she wait so long, nothing could've separated me from my pup, camp out the front until he gets returned.
It seemed she was too busy for her dog and it's welfare, did'nt think her dog might be missing her he was away from home nearly three months? Would have thought she would have been desperate to get him back home, but she always seemed to busy..
