These 50 Photos Of Ingo The Dog And His Owl Friends Is The Only Thing You Need To See Today
Some friendships might seem unlikely, but in reality, move mountains and melt hearts. A few years ago we wrote about a beautiful, yet uncommon, the friendship between a shepherd dog Ingo and an owl Poldi and today we present even more feathered friends of the pup.
Ingo and friends are the members of Tanja Brandt's family who is an incredible animal photographer. These furry and feathered beauties are perfect models to portray beautiful, sweet and unexpected moments between two extremely different species.
“I’ve always loved animals, since I was a baby, unlike the rest of my family"- said Tanja to Bored Panda in 2015. "When I was little, I found every sort of pet and then hid it from my parents. I love the beauty, power, loyalty, courage, and friendship of animals. Many people could learn from them.”

I allways think people are stupid when they comment like: "The dog is smiling, look at that happy face!" but the dog is just panting with an open month. But know I'm one of those stupid people, because this dog really looks like as if he is smiling. :)
Then you never had a dog. They do smile from ear to ear.

Ingo, this is my cousin, Tanja. She just flew in from Alaska! It's okay, she won't hurt you!
These owls are strapped down and they appear frightened to me. Ingo appears tired, nothing but tired. How many hours does the photographer make the dog stay still and keep the owls in place while she gets the 'perfect shot'? I know what a happy dog looks like, Ingo does not appear that way at all. I don't know enough about owls to interpret their expressions, but relaxed, content and happy are not entering into even my amateur judgment.
The owls in this photo, and in all the others, are strapped down, they cannot move. Ingo does not have owl 'friends'. Ingo is forced, and the owls are forced, to pose for these photos, probably for long periods of time while the photographer 'gets it right'. Ingo generally looks tired and perhaps even frightened. I'm not familiar enough the with expressions of owls to say what they are feeling, but doubt it it is anything like trust, comfort, or happiness.
He is smiling of course because he's content as his friends are with him.
Jeee, I'm so in love with Belgium shepherds (Mechelen)... it's unconditional.
I really can NOT get enough of that dogface... and those wonderful owls.

Birds... there are clearly multiple birds in the photos. Looks like they were all staged. Still pretty cute though.

I am a chronic depressive who constantly contemplates suicide, not least because of the crassness and grossness of people Thank you for being who you are and for giving me a smile and feeling of wonder at the diversity and unlikely relationships that nature brings. whenever i have a bad day, i know now what will make my day the most beautiful in the world. animals are and they will stay my number 1.
these are beautiful. but i wish they would use less filters because some of them got me questions if they are really paintings!

Where did you find all these owls that are chill with a dog? It's spectacular, every shot is beautiful.
At first I was convinced until my expert eye realised it was photoshopped with at least 4 species of owls lol
It's not. And yes, there are four species of owls, that's great of you to notice. Can you name the species? I can give you a hint: Athene noctua, Bubo bubo, Ptilopsis granti and Bubo scandiacus.

As I’m a lover of owls and dogs there is not one I could choose that is better than the rest thay are all fantastic,the little owl is my favourite owl and so easy to train from a young chick.xx

Totally amazing photography... Just loved this gorgeous dog and his owl friends.
Awesome bond between two animals. Intresting fact is that animals can feel deeply withing themselves if other animal will hurt them. I could name it "feeling the energy" of others. It's beautiful.

These two together kinda scare me... Can you imagine what they could do?! They may try and take over the world!
FYI: it says "Shepherd dog" not "German Shepherd dog". The Malinois is a Belgian Shepherd, as are the Groenendael and the Terveuren.

It's a falconer's bird. The leather-ties are to fix the bird to a post or to hold them when you carry them. Birds are usually easy to scare and startle, so if there were something strange - like for example a strange dog, a person...a cat maybe - they might take flight and hurt themselves. I've stood next to a large Eagle Owl for a day with its handler, and whenever a dog came around she (the owl) got very excited and nervous and would try to flee. The handler had to move to get the line of sight dog-free just so the owl would calm down again. Just as an example :) Also - yes, they are staged. Of course they are. Owls don't suddenly come out from their tree and sit on a dog in rain boots ;-)
