Model Shows How Indian Disney Princesses Would Look Like, And Some Look Better Than Originals
Model and Make-up artist Hamel Patel decided recently to do what countless girls have done over the years, play dress-up and recreate Disney princesses.
Hamel is from North Carolina, but she pays homage to her family heritage by reinterpreting classic female characters such as Snow White and Cinderella in a traditional Indian style. Famous for its colors, flowing dresses, and ornate jewelry, Indian fashion perfectly complements the fantasy and imagination of Disney characters.
“Growing up, I always wished there was a Disney princess I could relate to, one that represented where I came from,” she wrote on Instagram. “Introducing outfits/princess makeup looks inspired by the eight original pretty princesses we all grew up watching, with a little desi twist!”

Jasmine
People who watch(ed) the tv-series New Girl. Does this picture remind anyone more of Cece?
You've complained about her nose ring so much it makes me want to get a second nose stud because now it's all I can think about.

I like this one the most , cause we Indians love red and I love the shades of red used in this !
Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous, it really gives a cultural aspect to it
That’s probably not true, since there are Disney princess from lots of nationalities, and the only American princess for certain is Tiana.

before anyone says "that's the point", my original comment is for the people calling Pocahontas an Indian

Belle
Belle is a free Spirit and wouldn't wear that much jewellery. That's definitiv to much. Though I like the added rose.
I like this the best. Also like Jasmine. And Ariel with a fork in her hair !!! <3!
Ariel
For god sake we need the fork to recognise it's Ariel people, chill lol
You can't expect anything positive from someone who names themselves after one of history's grizzliest murders?
Load More Replies...For all of you who are asking about the fork, go watch The Little Mermaid. Or if you're lazy, just look it up.
I don’t understand all the comments with the fork, how can so many of you not understand the importance of the fork, me being a hard-core Disney lover am offended.
And my username is a reference to this movie

I think it is just the reflection of the knife/sword. Though it could be one..
Load More Replies...I hope a nice big meteor finds its way to your house.

In anything princess themed (toys, etc) Aurora is always in pink. I'm assuming to set her apart from Cinderella.
Come on, people, Jenna (and for what's worth, neither I) deserves the downvotes. She's right.

Some are better than the originals? Where??!?! Imagine if someone decided to make Jasmine, Mulan and Pocahontas with a white model saying better than the originals! ughhhhhhhhhhhh
While I get your opinion, nose rings are a bigger pain in the a**e to remove than earrings, for example. I generally wear a small diamond stud for that very reason, it's just a huge hassle to change out.
Load More Replies...There is a portion of the movie where Aurora where’s a pink dress

Load More Replies...Indian women fascinate me. Especially how no matter how much makeup and/or jewellery they put on they still look stunning. I wear a necklace and a pair of medium sized earrings and look ridiculous.
Exactly! Look at the first picture, where Hanel wears a rather simple make-up and "plain" clothes (but quite frankly, were I a woman, I would kill for that spectacular skirt... Hell, I'm a man and would kill for that spectacular skirt). She looks gorgeous. Then, in the rest of the images, se wears a buckload of make-up, jewelry and accessoires and still looks gorgeous. How do they do that???
Load More Replies...Good to see Indian articles being featured. Good work too! You go girl!
Loved the Indian take on the princesses. Very beautiful. Would love to see full body pictures of the costumes though.
These are pretty cool and unique, though. Interesting to imagine them as a different race.
