Spending a few days with my 92-year-old grandmother feels like completing a crash course in stand-up comedy. She’s witty, sassy and way past the age of caring about what anyone else thinks of her. Plus, she seems to have a knack for making people laugh at the simplest things.

When I was going through chemotherapy at the age of 20 I had to be quarantined from everyone, even my cat, due to low blood counts. My grandparents sent me a beautiful stuffed animal cat that I could cuddle. Still have it, sits on my bookshelf.

Man I miss my grandparents. One of my grandma's had a sign or decorative plate that said "I came, I saw, I went back in the house," and I really wish I had gotten that because it really summed up my grandpa more than anything. She had lots of fun stuff.
