This Grandpa-To-Be Shows His Son How To Bathe A Baby By Using A Cat As An Example

Parents bear a responsibility to teach their children many important life lessons, starting with the simplest ones, such as how to tie your shoes or how to fry an egg, to those that are a bit trickier—how to accept love, treat people with kindness, stay true to yourself, and many more. Apparently, sometimes these lessons also include teaching your offspring how to bathe a newborn baby. And using a cat for said demonstration.

This Vietnamese grandpa-to-be came up with the perfect tutorial on how to bathe a newborn

Recently, this Vietnamese grandpa-to-be went viral on the interwebs for coming up with the most genius and adorable way to teach his son how to bathe a newborn baby. His son Vinh Quang Phạm uploaded a video on Facebook capturing his dad demonstrating the whole process, though instead of a real baby, he’s pretending to bathe a cat.

A guy named Vinh Quang Phạm shared a video capturing his dad showing him how to bathe a baby using a cat as a dummy

In the video, you can see the dad showing the whole process to his son and explaining all the steps along the way. Surprisingly, the cat seems to be extremely relaxed throughout the whole video. It almost looks as if it understands its part in this demonstration.

“Hold the neck, then put your hands on the butt cheeks, that will give you a better grip. Hold his butt and put him down in the basin,” the dad explains in Vietnamese, according to the Daily Star. The man makes sure to emphasize that the baby’s head needs to be supported at all times.

Surprisingly, the cat stays calm and completely relaxed throughout the whole video

Then the grandpa puts the furry baby on his lap and demonstrates how to clean a newborn’s head. In the video, you can see him slowly massaging the cat’s head and splashing a little bit of imaginary water on it.

The video currently has over 47k likes and over 11k comments

The way he is holding the kitten must feel safe. She isn't going to fall, his actions are loving and kind. If the kitten is so relaxed, imagine how a baby will feel.

Christina Uhlir, I’ll take note, you’re an absolute moron who knows nothing about cats. “Frozen in fear” isn’t something they have, if they feel threatened, they get out of the situation. I know because I’ve lived with 6 cats, at different points in my life. All with very different personalities. Not one of them ever was “frozen in fear” when held, most of them didn’t want to be held, so they yelled a bit, and got themselves out of the hold. So, learn something, and come back.

To whom it may concern (particularly Christina Uhlir): That cat isn't scared. A bit annoyed, maybe (its ears are a little twisted), but not scared. Its eyes aren't dilated, its ears aren't flat, it's relaxed, its fur isn't bristling. That face it's making at the end is a very happy face (and one I've seen on my own cat). Well, I think we all know that Christina Uhlir is just a raving whacko by now, but this kitty is definitely NOT abused! This is one contented lil kitty and is just lovin the attention and rubs! She probably gets held like this a lot and that's why she's so chill with it, when my lil sis was 6, this was how she held one of our mamma cats kitties...they LOVED it! They'd fall asleep so fast like that and their motor was just a hummin away ;)

NEVER bathe a cat as long as the vet doesn't tell you. It's not a thing cats do or like, it probably will give you a traumatic and problematic cat.

not entirely true Nadine. their are cats that actually do like water if introduced at a young age, some like them naturally such as the following breeds. Turkish angora who love to swim, Japanese and American bobtail, and the dog like exotic Bengal.

Orange tabby cats are like that. They love their humans. Combine that with Siamese for a Red Point Siamese and they adore their people.

He's just lucky that cat is so mellow. If I tried that with any of my cats, I'd be in the ER with shredded arms!

Aww the cat must feel very comfortable with the father. At first I thought it must be stuffed bc she didn’t move! That’s a really cool relationship right there

I have seen this video a few times now. EVERY time I see it, I am astounded by the total chill on this cat. I need this cat. The Granddad-to-be is awesome, and that cat is just too, too much! Someone here said that it was as if the cat knew his part. S/he did and played it to perfection!! I love this cat!!

Orange cats are the sweetest, best-tempered type. I don't care what anyone else says, I've had every color ten times over, and I know. PS-That grandpa is adorable!

Yeah, gingers, calicoes and inverted color calicoes (forget the name, but they’re like black and orange and whatnot) have always been the best with me, as well lol

Possibly the only cat on the planet that would put up with a bath. :)

My cat tolerates baths. He's pretty chill. I only wash him when he stinks though.

This guy is Thai. Thais are Buddhists and are kind to animals. That cat is lucky he wasn't Chinese or that bucket would be a wok filled with boiling oil. lol

There are a lot of Chinese animal lovers working to stamp out the practice of eating cats and dogs.

It would be better if the title wasn't misleading. Where is the source to the video. I don't care about this blog
