Guy Dresses Himself As Delivery Man To Hand-Deliver His CV Disguised As Box Of Donuts

Marketing specialist Lukas Yla wants to make it big and he has the balls to do it. By balls, I mean donuts, of course. He disguises himself as a courier and delivers his CV to companies hidden in donut boxes.

“I was looking for the most direct way to reach decision makers at the companies. I thought that I might fail competing only on “resume” level with other candidates that have work experience in San Francisco,” Lukas told the Metro.

In pursuit of his dream, Lukas left Vilnius, Lithuania and moved to San Francisco to start a new career. He knew that in order to be noticed he had to find a way to stand out from the crowd.

However, this wasn’t a spontaneous act: “It might look like a stunt, but it was a precisely crafted campaign, that went through multiple iterations until it started succeeding. Once I launched the campaign, I performed A/B tests on companies of different sizes, different target audiences, and with variations on the copy. I used a special URL to measure the offline outcomes and act on them to maximize ROI of the campaign.”

Did it work? He delivered his delicious CV to over 40 companies and already landed 10 interviews.

I once got a resume for a creative/ad position that was a Chinese food take-out box (no food, but the resume formed into a box shape, complete with handles). The candidate was hired!

All those who think this is bad: This guy WORKS IN MARKETING, so he showed the firms he applied for, that he is fit for the job, can plan and execute a campaign.

It's not sad, he's found the path of least resistance to maximize his chances of getting an interview. He's got the drive to succeed, and at the end, that's all that matters.

This is a great story. But it also shows the struggle that talented ppl might have to go thru to have good resumes read...

My family has a tradition of bribing with baked goods. It leaves no paper trail, and it's not illegal anyway- but it's never failed yet.

Brilliant? Based on a resume glued to the inside of a donut box? You have low standards

Okay, so now I need to know the equivalent of this for applying to a PhD program :D (after Covid, many universities have shrunk funding for program positions so this upcoming application period is going to be insanely competitive)

I'm assuming Postmates is a delivery company. Did he get their consent to use their name first, if not, then Postmates is liable to sue him.
