Internet Is Laughing Out Loud At This “Mistake” On This Book Cover, And It’s Getting Funnier And Funnier With Every Pic
When it comes to solving mysteries, the internet is the first place you should turn to. This time, tumblr detectives have united their brains for yet another important case. They’re trying to determine why the woman on the cover of “Deadly Welcome” is so freakishly tall.
The man behind the illustration of the 1965 John D. MacDonald novel is Robert E. McGinnis. Mr. McGinnis is known for his illustrations of more than 1,200 paperbacks and over 40 movie posters, including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, several James Bond films, and The Incredibles.
Aware of his background, the Sherlocks of the internet didn’t simply accuse the man or poor artistry. No, someone this prolific must’ve known what he was doing. Scroll down to check out what hilarious alternative explanations the internet has come up with instead!

Can you spot what’s wrong with this vintage book cover?
So much "investigation"...., just look at the door frame. A door is about 6feet 8inches, the lady's head is about 8 inches short of the frame, so I'd say this lady is about 6 feet. And what is the problem? Freakishly tall?
While her actual height seems alright, the proportions appear slightly off indeed. Her legs would have to be too long to stand like that(well, or wear extremely high heels/platform shoes)
Load More Replies...I'm not laughing out loud, nor does this get funnier with every pic.
I was seeing how the door's not squared with the opening. Wallpaper palm trees are annoying!
Lol. This did actually make me chuckle XD Not the cover itself so much but some of the comments. These guys should have a go at some of the much, MUCH worse book covers that I've seen.
Kept passing this one up for a couple of days, should have continued to do so
Simple answer; In the '50 s 'pin-up' girls were depicted with extremely long legs. Match book covers of the time had tiny girls with great big legs. There was even an R & B song about 'Hot Toddy' "-had great big legs and a little bitty body" -but I couldn't find it on You tube.
What’s important is that he doesn’t have. thumb, just a clumsy attempt to hide it with that horrible malplaced prosthetic. She is from the planet Twilo and therefore is standing on a mound of walnuts.
I believe this is known as "artistic license." Have you ever looked at the bizzare stuff painted by Picaso?
Her femurs are probably longer than you think. This, BP, is actually stupid.
Really? People are so scary nowadays. Her legs are too long, there are too many white people eating dole whip. Give me a break :(
There is nothing wrong with the illustration; ... it's called FORESHORTENING, and PERSPECTIVE, and it is perfectly normal. you friggin cretins.
That lady just wears an extra high heels over her own high heels and the guy's been sobbing after his lost high heels.
ok, yeah. so she took his regular high heels, right?
