Though we see our lives as mostly boring and "not much to write home about", we gladly want to see how others are living and what they're experiencing, even though they might see their lives to be as boring as we see ours. Perhaps those tiny little differences and the unfamiliarity with other people's lives are what attracts us to know more about them.

Let us introduce you to Promptlypaneled comics created by Xan that may satisfy your need to check up on how others are doing. Her comics range from relatable everyday life situations to particular experiences that the author has gone through from a feminist point of view. Take a peek!

Here's how Xan started the comic and how it's doing right now: "It started sometime in 2019 before the pandemic, and I believe it was 2020 once one of the comics went somewhat viral. It's happened a couple more times since and tends to bring in a few new followers, which is nice! The comics get re-uploaded a lot, which overall I don't mind, as long as the watermark is intact. If people want to see my full collection and follow for more, they can find my Instagram page. If they just enjoy the few very popular ones that get reuploaded, that's fine too! As for how the comic is doing now, I think it's doing okay enough. I'm trying to get in a better groove of frequent uploads, though as we're renovating our house on the side, it's difficult to balance at times. I hope to find that balance soon: there's no shortage of issues I want to discuss or stupid relatable events I've had happen!"

There was a game in my school called t*tty tag, where the boys run up and grab a random girl's boob. It got stomped out by the teachers but every girl was included without consent and there are 6th graders in my school.

This definitely happens. I remember being a young girl probably 12/13 and if I was walking to the store, and a particular guy happened to see me, he'd always say "2 more years" I guess he thought I was older and was implying in 2 more years I'd be "legal" for him. Who knows. But it left me uneasy and annoyed.

feminism wants men to be the breadwinner😂 aye, because I'm sure women spent all those years fighting for the right to work and then arguing for fair wages(which still hasn't happened yet) only to decide to stay at home and let the men earn the money.

These are the exact same men who do nothing to set up organizations and systems to help men who are hurting. Women didn’t have any choice but to help each other, but instead of helping each other through things like sexual assault, men prefer to laugh and mock other men who go through it, and then get mad a feminism for not being supportive. It’s very frustrating!

Xan likes to base the comics off of something that she personally experienced or went through, which is why many find it relatable. "I tend to make comics based on my own experiences. Working as a server, being a woman, dealing with (the aftermath of) the pandemic... I'm an unapologetic feminist and as such, if I had to pick one overarching theme, it's an ever-present veil of feminism."

Honey, if he’s so superficial that a couple pounds difference between a tinder photo and the actual person makes that his worst first date, then you telling him that is wasted breath. It will never sink in, and he will never understand it, because he has no inner life. He only skims the surface of life, with zero concern for deeper truths.

Couple lbs =/= 100lbs difference on a 5'6" person. Yes, that happened IRL. Didn't care all that much about the weight itself but did care that they started the interaction with a major lie. That's a huge red flag. (edit, most people lie about a few lbs here or there, no that wasn't the worst date and doesn't take away from her answer in the comic... I'm not competing for worst date, just pointing out that lying about something so obvious can be a real problem and not a good way to start a date)

The artist believes that it's an important mission to talk about these issues. "Generally, I think there will always be a need to showcase women-centric struggles. The internet can be a very hostile space, and it seems to get worse every passing day. "Being a woman" isn't considered the social norm, despite making up 50% of the population, and because of that, a woman's voice is easily drowned out online. Even with my comics, people often assume I'm a man, even though the character is clearly not. I'd love for us as a society to move forward to a world where being online does not automatically mean being a man."

"Do you live around here" "what time are you off shift" "what time do you start your shift" "do you have a boyfriend" and my favorite follow up to the last question "how long have you been together" probing questions are a huge red flag

When you work as a service provider you need to be so careful with your answers as to not upset a customer that the worker might feel pressured into giving their number although they don't really want to. A way to go might be for the customer to hand her a piece of paper with his number and leave it up to her if she wants to contact him.

"Bringing up women's issues can have a very strong reaction online. The loudest voices don't make up the majority of actual opinions, but they serve to keep women down and quiet, preventing these issues from being discussed openly. And if we don't talk about something, it goes unnoticed. That's no way to live. A simple comic is easy to read, easy to share and easy to relate to. In that way, I think they can help in getting a discussion started. Even if that means some people bring in a lot of negativity. Let them! It's part of the progress."

Here are Xan's plans for the future, and the future is looking interesting, so keep an ear out. "I'm writing a rough outline for a bigger comic project, about my experience with life coming out of an abusive relationship in the past. I have yet to find the perfect tone for it: as it is, it's too dramatic for my taste, and it'll take a few rewrites before I can take it to the next level.

As for slightly less depressing plans, honestly, part of me wants to animate some content. I haven't animated something for myself since college and I quite miss it! So some short-video-form content might be a nice addition. Though it would require making a TikTok account, which is terrifying for someone who's pushing 30, like me."

There are sooooooo many idiots in gaming. My personal favourite was when they finally gave me the option to play Shepard as a gay man in mass effect 3 that people complained that Shepard wasn't gay. And I was like duuuudes, just because your Shepard isn't gay, doesn't mean he or she can't be gay for other gamers. It's an option, you don't have to play him like that. Just having an option in a game is already an attack for some people.

In a game I play, the character you play as is female. I have several male friends that play this game, and they really don't care about the character being female. The gender of the protagonist doesn't matter, just enjoy the freaking game.

I'd actually go the opposite way, for instance Assassins Creed Syndicate kept forcing you to use the male character which to me ruined the game. When I played AC Odyssey & Valhalla I chose the female character because despite being male I find the female characters to be better to play with.

In my book, anyone who loves games is a gamer, doesn't matter if it's UNO or GTA. There is some consideration for some types of games not fitting into "gamer culture" but in my experience, gamer culture is a steaming pile of salt and sweaty bodies, so who wants to be that kind of gamer anyway?

I just finished moving. I also had to paint the old apartment (German rules when renting). I did so much "sit, do nothing and stress". It was horrible. But I am in my new apartment and can take the time to make it perfect for kitty and me. All good now.

I'm thinking about the topic that was once here with the absolutely inaccurate texts of authors with absolutely no clue about women. Like "women have to wait for the pee for several minutes because of their maze-like intestines" und stuff like this <_<

And the pretension! Ever read any of the author's notes on any of his books? He thinks he's a way better writer than he is. He straight up hates his readers, too. He thinks they/we are all idiots. I was just talking about this last weekend, weird coincidence.

A few of the readers groups for romance books I'm a member off often share lists of dumb bits in books like that, I don't think it's a man thing because as one myself I would never use the descriptions some of the authors use its more like they stopped maturing mentally when they hit puberty.

I gave up reading a certain series because of how the male (very well known) author wrote the women. The way these 4 ladies, most of whom had known each other for YEARS, interacted had absolutely nothing to do with how real women relate to one another. Their conversation was really formal & stilted. I remember putting it down and wondering if he knew any actual women.

Important to note that although this is definitely a problem, it's unfair to say that all male authors do this with their female characters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Rick Reordan, Brandon Sanderson, and Robert Jordan (to name a few) have all had good track records of good, respectfully written female characters

    Fluffy Griffin

It's not that ALL male authors do it, it's that when you see it in a book, there is a high probability that the author is male.

I did sadly catch Covid which with my health issues should have put me in hospital, but because I was vaccinated i had one night with a fever and a few days felling like I had a bad cold and that was all.

It's not shallow to have a preference, no matter what your preference is. As cliche as it is - beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Every one likes what they like. No diff between height or body type. At the end of the day, every one should be loved for who they are.

I once went to a craft store (Michael's) to get a single artificial flower (my mum was making my wedding bouquets). I got the flower and took it up to the counter to pay for it. When the cashier rung it up it came up as 1¢. (It was meant to be like $5). She tried again, same thing. Typed in the number on the bar code, once again 1¢. She called the manager, and explained the situation and the manager said "show me." So, again the cashier scanned it and typed it all in for it to show up twice more as 1¢. Manager laughed, said: "I've never seen this happen before." Handed the flower to me and said "Here you go." I stood there absolutely dumbfounded unsure if she was joking when she said "it says it's 1¢ and seeing as pennies no longer exist I cannot charge you anything for it. So, i guess it's free. Have a good day!" Oh, how the turns tabled that day...

Went out with a guy like this decades ago; only went out ONCE. He actually made the young server tear up because he was such an a*s. As we were leaving, I excused myself after he paid because I "forgot" something. Was going to personally apologize, but couldn't find them. Left the kid a huge tip (about 60%). Don't know that it solved the problem but I hope it helped.

Had a date like that. He ordered a coke with ice and lemon, she forgot the lemon. He made fun of her, calling waiters stupid and scumbags who couldn't find better jobs.. dude was 26, unemployed and living with his parents. Made an excuse to get out of that dinner and left. Yeah, I know I should have called him out for his behaviour, but I was 20 and super shy.

If women like popular things, we're called basic bitches. If we don't like popular things, we're accused of disliking popular things for men's attention. Basically men will shame us no matter what we like.

For a moment I mistook Kung Fury for Kung Fu Hustle and thought we'd have to fued. *Phew* Anyway, Kung Fu Hustle is a masterpiece and best watched as a double feature with Bubba Ho-Tep. Kung Fury is glorious in that in leans so hard into parody it feels like it's going to fail but then pushes it further until somehow it comes out the other side into a weird Dadaistic brilliance.

That’s a manager who’s not paying any attention to his employees on the floor. If he had, he’d know she had already done a lot already and all by herself, so she deserves some down time. But no, he assumes——and it only makes an a*s out of him.
