I'm an international award-winning children’s portrait photographer in Beaver, West Virginia with eight years of experience in the field. I'm also a mom of four who loves animals.
There is something magical about the connection between children and animals, so I focus on capturing the innocence of the bond between them. Each image highlights this bond with a vivid, yet almost fairytale-like feel that's both fun and creative.
I'm inspired by paintings, color, light, and my kids. I put a lot of work into every detail in my image—from the wardrobe and location to hairstyles. There is so much that creates the perfect image; even the tiniest detail can change a photo from good to amazing.
I shoot with a Nikon D750 and use a 35mm sigma art or 85mm 1.4 Nikon lens. I prefer to shoot mainly outdoors and love to find new locations with pretty light.

I used to do this with our cat when I was little too—-and I’m 59 now! Only difference is I also had our best friend St Bernard dog following us both around. We were a tightly bonded trio.
For added comfort let the kitty sit in your hand while you support him.
Rats make the best pets! Clean and smart, and very personable. That little guy looks a lot like a rat I had in college named Dave.
Are you related to this photographer? I see comments throughout this thread.

When I was about 3 my older sister, who hated that I was born, took my few toys, my blanket and dolls and put them in her little suitcase, walked to the end of the street where there was a deep ditch, and threw it in. There went all my toys! Mom never bought me another toy as they were broke, and I was the disposable child. Not the son daddy wanted so a failure from birth. Grandmother sent mom money to have my portrait done a few weeks later for my birthday, as I was named after her. I had ear infections and had been whiney for a few days, but Mom bundled me into the car and drove me to the photography studio. To my delight, the man handed me a stuffed black scotty dog! I was thrilled and he got the best photos of me with my white blond hair in soft baby curls, and my little white shoes. But then he wanted the doggy back, and I cried for hours all the way home and after. This picture reminds me of that, with a real puppy!
Cute picture and subjects. Just wondering why so many people have their babies' ears pierced - better to leave it til they're older and can make their own decisions about such things, I would have thought...
What beautiful shots n moments. No one would deny it it. But I am shock an international award winning photographer views and is of the opinion ONLY children of ONE color can gave beautiful memories with animals. Does this world consist INLYcwith children of one color. Children are innocents souls.lets leave them alone. I am shocked that such pictures are admired and no-one had the sense to see that only one color was represented here. This world celebrates DIVERSITY , multi languages, religion, color and creed. Social media is accessed by EVERYONE around the globe. All I can say is SHAME ON YOU to EVERYONE involved in this photography and beyond.
I do sessions of kids of all color. Most of these are of my own kids because I don’t have everyone’s permission to share their images on social media. International doesn’t mean I travel I internationally it means I’ve been awarded through photography organizations that are open world wide. Thanks for your observation. But one article doesn’t show much at all so If be careful not to base my judgment so quickly.

So glad to see she’s holding the cat properly! Parents, please teach your children things like this, and be sure your children are careful and gentle around animals. It instills in them the virtues of kindness and respect for living things.
Excellent shot, a young child, she holds the kitten, with love !!!
The photos are amazing but children and animals have to be supervised. Children have to be taught how to be gentile and not annoy animals or both can be harmed. Adults get careless and too often the animals pay the price. PLEASE teach your children how to interact with animals.
From what I have seen, it is apparent, that the children are taught, and experienced with animals !!!

Especially a kitten.A cat has its heart in the middle of the body, so holding it tightly around the middle can seriously damage it. Please don't let your children hold very young cats like that. It quite spoiled what was a lovely set of photos.
Wonderful post, excellent photography, great shots with children and animals, many in nature, was fabulous !!!
I love the innocence of the children and the animals. These are beautiful, heartwarming photos. Thanks for sharing them.
I thought it was raining. Turns out, it's my heart that's melted. (I know, it's horribly cheesy ♡)
All the photos were soft & lovable. Most of them look like they were taken many years ago. But, very enjoyable.
The clarity of the picture is amazing. Nostalgic, sweet, thoughtful and original! Love these pictures1
I had voted for all of them as well, it seems that children are taught compassion to animals, no harm was intended....however, Eunice has a point, before getting a pet, any animal, we all have to learn how to handle and care for it.

Somehow you manage to bring out the softness in each child, boy and girl, as well as from each animal, perfect pairings. You have talent Ms. Martin, and thank you so much for sharing with us this little bit of paradise.
all these pictures were so mythical and beautiful, and i thank you very much for sharing
These are absolutely adorable and gorgeous photographs. You have a true talent for capturing the innocence and joy of both animals and children.
I am an animal lover so these pictures really appeal to me. Kids animals and expert shooting, what more could you want.
Children and animals have both a lovely, pure innocence about them. Their souls seem to connect on a strangely deep level. Adults can feel this too, but we're often too busy with our petty lives to truly realize the glory of nature and the simple things.
Absolutely amazing beautiful pictures you are a great artist! My favorites are #1,15,21. But all of them are amazing thank you for sharing!
One of the (many!!) things that makes many of the photos so fetching is the outfits the children wear. The colors and textures add so much, and the styles coordinate with the lighting to create a mood. Brilliant!
jiriw.......and the "beautiful" bond between animals and consumers - those who did not care how an animal on their plate suffered, who prefer murdered animal to delicious plant-based protein (meat), who enjoy delicious boiled-alive sentient being.....do I need to go on? Only consumers - which means every single person on this planet, can create real peaceful, safe world, nobody else.
