Russian Body Artist Gives His Hairless Cat Four Tattoos, And People Are Not OK With It
475Kviews
A Russian tattoo fanatic dosed his hairless Sphynx cat named Demon up with pain killers to tattoo a series of ‘gangster’ tattoos on him, and now animal rights activists are shaming him.
“Of course I feel pity for doing it to him. It’s not like he wanted to do it himself. He has a different skin, so tattoos are applied differently,” Aleksandr said. “I hope it is not too bad for him, it is not his first tattoo. Usually, he feels fine and recovers from the anesthesia pretty fast.” The tattoos feature a prison tower, playing cards and a cigarette – all things that are typically worn by criminals in Russia.
Not only are many people shaming the body artist for tattooing his cat, but so is Elizabeth Skorynin – the head of an animal rehabilitation center. She said that Sphynx’ have very sensitive skin and any little injuries cause them pain and discomfort. Not to mention, that anesthesia is bad for Sphynx’ and the survival rate is 50%, which makes this whole case a question of abuse. However, Aleksandr Purtov, a local tattooist, defended the whole cat tattooing case saying that it was normal many years ago for farmers to tattoo their animals, therefore there is no reason for it to be unethical now.
A Rusian tattoo fanatic named Aleksandr decided to give his Sphynx cat, Demon, a series of tattoos
So he dosed Demon up with pain killers and got to work

People are absolutely outraged by this whole case and expressing their thoughts on Facebook
However, there are some comments defending the case

This is sickening. It's nothing short of animal cruelty. Animals are living, breathing creatures, not 'things'. Every time this asshat did this, he could have killed the cat. And as someone said, sphinx cats have really sensitive skin. Those tattoos probably cause it a great deal of pain. The poor cat should be taken away from this clown, and he shouldn't be allowed to own animals again.
Won´t happen :-( first of all this person decided to buy a cat without hair - whats wrong already, then with plain cat skin in front of her she had the idea to do something with it and she found a guy who did it. There are 3 people who should not live on this planet : 1: the breeder 2: the buyer 3: the "artist"
that is a sphynx cat, The Sphynx is a breed of cat developed through selective breeding starting in the 1960s, known for its lack of coat, though it's not truly hairless. The skin should have the texture of chamois, as it has fine hairs, and they cost a lot of money. So the breeder shouldn't be punished at all. The buyer and the artist should. The reason the breeder shouldn't be punished is because they most likely wouldn't of known this to have happened. they could feel the same way you feel about this being animal abuse.
Sphynx are hairless due to a naturally occurring genetic mutation, meaning they are naturally hairless. They are sometimes crossbred but only to produce stronger lines and a healthier purebred cat.
They shouldn't live just cus you said so? I'm not defending an artist, but I have cat that I bought. And I gave my cat all the love that I could. We have Cornish rex cus it's the nicest cats on earth. And we wanted cat with such character. I love her with all my heart and I know that she love me too. So if someone say that she shouldn't exist cus she is purebread I think it's juts istn't fair. I help in animal shelter and I'm a buyer. Sorry, but for me as long as someone take care of his pets he can buy it. I don't care.
Totally agree with you. Breeds are in business to make money and to show off their animals dog/cat, or what ever, to win prizes in shows.
We kill, eat and wear those living, breathing creatures by millions every single day. We love dogs, eat pigs, and wear cows. Yep, we have such cognitive dissonance regarding our beliefs about animals. I think for many of us here, it's a relatively easy thing to go through life in such a fog since most of us never see the suffering that animals endure who are raised for food, clothing or subjected to experiments. And now some people after this incident wish also to inflict pain or even to kill that human. So funny, really funny. That people by seeing a cruelty to a cat, became enraged that much and want to kill another human. And by proclaiming so, they think they are more humanist. And by expressing themselves and their negative emotions, they feel good about themselves. Because, of course, they are on a side of a poor cat. Just let's kill that male. (not using the word 'man', since it has in some situations a strong positive traits in some cultures). The new crusade...
This is animal abuse. period...
But implementing a eugenics program to breed a new line of cats is less immoral? I'm not defending the artist, but I fail to see why a cat tattoo is less acceptable than forcing cats to interbreed so we can have cutesy animals.
You know one abuse doesn't excuse another, right?
We're not talking about interbreeding we're talking about tattooing. He must have overdosed it on painkillers to the point of unconsciousness to have kept it still for the hours needed to complete just one tattoo. Having a tattoo is excruciatingly painful and there is no way a cat would tolerate it for seconds let alone hours. Then there's the aftercare still painful and keeping it clean and dressed you'd have a fight on your hands. Barbaric cruelty! Disagree with interbreeding also but to make a comparison is a bit ridiculous.
Sphynx cats are derived from a naturally occurring mutation. They aren't man made at all. If inbreeding is happening, it's only by shitty back yard breeders.
You DO know that hairless cats are a natural mutation, right?
Yep! Let the wild things be as intended. Wild!
Think about it, if humans want to be tatooted that's their choice. The Animal is summited to stress and pain just for the glory of some bastard to show off. This totally inaccessable, it is just plain maltreatement.
This does not make it alright, just because it is wrong to breed such animals.

What? We don't breed cats for cute.
Okay, this guy should not own ANY animals. If you've never had a tattoo, let me tell you first hand, it f*cking HURTS! Not just the process of getting it, but AFTER, you are sore, you scab, you have to constantly apply a special lotion, more soreness, the scab peels. Its not a quick healing process. This sweet innocent cat may have been "asleep" when the tattoo was put on, but bet your ass the cat felt it when he woke up. This is nothing short of abuse. Would you do this to a baby? NO, so don't do it to animals!
Would you kill a human baby? No, so stop eating those juicy stakes, and wearing those shiny business shoes.

Mine didn't... I just kept them coated in bepanthem cream and I didn't scab one little bit. Maybe I'm special....
How can you apply a cream to a cat. They wash themselves constantly. Would have to wear the cone, but even then you would have to take very attentive care of it.

I prefer cocoa butter. Other than that, no scabs, no peeling. We're both special!

You only scab if you don't look after it. Just like any cut
Not true at all Amanda! All tattoos scab over, that's part of the healing process!
