I first started turning this spalted silver birch bowl 9 months ago and found the wood quite soft in areas so tried to harden it up. I spent 2 hours turning and finishing it and just as I was applying the final layer of wax and about to take it off the lathe it exploded on me.

So nice that you're doing this at your age! Glad you didn't get hurt, you were well instructed on where to stand it seems. (Not sure what you said as I watched without sound). Next time this happens you could use gold glue / Kintsugi glue, that would fit perfectly. (Though not sure if that is for wood as well). Kintsugi us a Japanese art form for Ceramics. Of course better if it doesn't happen again though.
