Black Twitter may seem like fun and games all the time, but it also helped amplify marginalized voices. American University journalism professor Sherri Williams discussed this in a 2025 interview, noting that Black people made themselves stand out online.
“Black people’s digital activism on Twitter got stereotypical shows canceled, held advertisers accountable for supporting those shows, and amplified the work of Black creatives as they used social media to break into Hollywood,” Williams said.

We live in Southern California, where fourth-generation Mexican-Americans born in Pico Rivera who don't even speak Spanish get snatched by ICE. I don't get it.
