My name is Dan, and I draw Big Fat Comics. Why “big and fat,” you ask? That’s actually a very good question. Here’s another good question: what is the sound of one hand clapping? Give up? It’s “fwip fwip fwip.” That’s what’s known as a koan. It’s pretty deep stuff. You wouldn’t understand. Please enjoy these comics, which you will notice are neither big nor fat (hence the name).
I'm a full-time writing professor / part-time cartoonist living in Southern California. My passion for cartooning began when I was a student at UC Berkeley, where I drew a comic strip called "Salad Daze" for the Daily Californian, the school newspaper. (The strip was a runner-up for the Charles M. Schulz College Cartoonist award.) Just recently (about a year ago) I decided to give cartooning another go, and these are the results.
