If you think about it, making a film is such a huge, multilayered creative endeavor that it’s totally possible to generate enough drama to make another movie. For example, Tommy Wiseau’s “The Room,” which spawned “The Disaster Artist.” Similarly, superfans of one film or another can often find interesting details and stories when exploring what goes on behind the scenes.

So the "Movies In The Making" internet group exists to share all the interesting behind-the-scenes footage and stories of our favorite films. So get comfortable, upvote your favorite pics, and share your thoughts in the comments below.

The Club Obi Wan opening of Temple of Doom is probably my all-time favorite 9+ minutes of cinema history. Ke Huy Quan's 'Hey, Dr Jones, no time for love!" was simply priceless...

JFC! That's how a real flame thrower should work! That's not some propane powered bush burner, that thing is using white gas. Remember when Musk started selling "flame throwers" for his Boring Company? This is how a real flame thrower works. You need heavier fuel. You need gasoline.

I recently watched the old neverending story movies with all the puppets and I was just in awe of what they were able to do without CGI.

Yes. We aren’t Luddites demanding a permanent return t9 the old way. We’re people with eyes who see that CGI needs more development before it can realistically replace people, buildings, cars, landscapes, etc. Just a temporary step back until the leap forward is completely ready to replace it.

It's sickening how they've turned against J K Rowling for simply having a completely valid opinion about what a woman is. They wouldn't be enjoying the lifestyle they all have if it wasn't for her genius.

They used this same techniques in The Lord of the Rings to make Frodo and Bilbo look much smaller than Gandalf in the Bag End scenes. Forced perspective works so well, because film (and even digital capture) is all 2D, so they can manpulate your perspective with proper staging and camera lenses.

Apparently Ridley Scott didn't tell the cast who were clustered around John Hurt before the Alien baby burst out of his chest what was going to happen, that's the reason they all looked so bloody terrified - it was real !! John Hurt, was, of course in on the joke, so to speak.

Tarantino said it was originally going to be full of diamonds but he thought that would be boring and decided to just never reveal the contents. (But no, it is not and was never intended to be the crime lord's soul).

This movie is the source of one of my favourite movie making anecdotes: the costume/effects people were talking about how to do the makeup, and someone said "we should pin his eyelid back!" and someone else said "nah, he'd never agree to that." Then Oldman shows up and says "hey, guys, I've got a great idea! Let's pin my eyelid back!" (They presumably used some kind of special glue, in case anyone's picturing an actual pin).

I was a senior in highschool when this came out and every girl in my class was bragging about how many times they went to go see it at the theatre. You really had to be there at the age and the time to understand how popular that movie was. Naturally, I waited until it was on home release and watched it once. But I must have heard "My Heart Goes On" about a million times that year. Ahh memories.

Well, you have to remember that this is the scene where he sits on that bench to decide whether to take the MIB job, starting in the the afternoon/early evening, over the entire night, and on into the next morning. So my guess is that it was getting the shot with all the changes in the lighting looking as smooth and natural as possible that necessitated all the equipment.,

LOL at the crowd of gawkers. "I SAW WILL SMITH!" "cool, what was he doing?" "SITTING ON A BENCH! And the next day I sat on the SAME bench!" "gee, um, how nice for you". -- TBH though I would probably watch as well. I don't go ga-ga over famous people but I do take interest in how things are done behind the scenes.

from right to left, the green one cut out half the light, the next top one is doing a similar, to balance the light from the right of his face. The black one, known as a 'solid' is a negative fill to shape his face and the white one is called fill, it balances the light from the other sides. The big black one at the left is most likely a shade for the camera team. As we spend a lot of time in the sun.

In Hollywood you can't just turn up the gamma. Tarantino is a very demanding producer. He knows when you just can't fool the human eye. Also he always shoots on film and you cant just slide a pip on a bar to make things brighter.

Most of the outdoor filming happens either late at night or on Sunday. This... I think it's the 405 just south of the 10, so it's probably about 3-4 in the morning.

Yeah, well, USA had a criminal “property developer” who did the same thing to many father & son, and family-owned construction companies when he failed at the businesses and claimed bankruptcy (six times in total) instead. He went on to become a thrice impeached criminal ex-president, now being prosecuted for multiple offenses.

Always thought that was cool. The effect certainly worked live action in the theater. I do remember it drew a moment of “what the?” However, the entire movie was so incredibly novel and captivating that little quirks that the mind perceived were quickly swept aside to embrace each new scene and image. A masterwork of “suspend the disbelief.”

That’s so awkward. It gives a real appreciation for the process. I admit, I get jaded and think the actors just “phone it in” with lines and let the techs work out the digital imagery. Not so. The teamwork and coordinated effort is really remarkable

He's a massive Superman fan so must have been a lot of excitement followed by a huge disappointment when it didn't go ahead.

He looks like a Disney princess. I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

I didn’t hate Robert Pattinson’s Batman but I didn’t particularly like it either and don’t want to watch it again. It was fine. However I thought The Dark Knight was amazing and is one of my favourite films of all time.
