I Discovered A Several-Hundred-Year-Old Abandoned Farmhouse In France (18 Pics)
In a small town in the south of France sits an abandoned farmhouse, which once belonged to a prominent family. It was the first house built in the town and it dates back several hundred years.
The family name is still well-known throughout the town. However, the town residents do not know why the house sits in its current state nor do they know what happened to the family. See some pictures from inside the house with everything left behind.

Share on FacebookWhatever happened to the people living there? Were they kidnapped by aliens ? Looks like they simply vanished, leaving beds unmade and dishes on the table. Weird.
Abandoned or not, going in to a property that you are not asked to or isn't yours is so wrong...I guess I'm just 'old fashioned'
Elements to me look staged... those flowers. Either the longest lasting flowers ever or fake ones (which doesn't really fit in with the rest of the house). And if they are the latter, why are they not covered in dust and debris like everything else
Load More Replies...I feel like they were in a hurry to leave and decided to take the things they really needed instead of everything. I wonder why they left in a hurry tho....
If there is a heritage problem and one of the siblings does not want to sell, some houses can sit like this for a very long time before anything can be done. There were a lot of them in the Brittany countryside around my grandmother's village. The furniture is quite pretty but also very standard for a turn of the century household, and today it has almost no market value so people probably just left it there instead if having to deal with moving it.
Oh I'd love to explore that! I've always wanted to explore old abandoned buildings..
I grew up in a Pennsylvania farmhouse that was built in 1834. We still have the original land patent for the farm. Here's the kitchen - Kitchen-2-...58f48e.jpg
The pictures look like the inhabitants just up and left. I do hope this in not a war story, where they were kidnapped, arrested, shot, etc. But it is strange that the house was left to rot. Was no one left who felt responsible for a decomposing house?
Southern France. Chances are good that the inhabitants did perish in WWII.
Load More Replies...Have the relatives left this house to rot? Are there no relatives? I hope someone can save this old house. I also wonder why this house has been entirely raided...so many beautiful things inside.
I'm pretty sure they didn't have electricity, television, or incandescent light bulbs "several hundred years" ago.
I think "several hundred years" refers to the actual house and not the things in it. You can update old houses to include electricity.
