Since right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated last September, his widow, Erika Kirk, has stepped into a leadership role within his organization, Turning Point USA, sparking debate over how she has handled her newfound public exposure.
Ten days after a bullet fatally struck Charlie’s neck in front of a crowd of 3,000 students, a memorial service was held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
During the event—attended by an estimated 70,000 mourners—Erika made a dramatic entrance onto the stage that featured pyrotechnics, leading many to question why the memorial did not keep a more somber tone.
Criticism over this perceived lack of seriousness has since spread online following several public appearances Erika has made as CEO of Turning Point.
While she has framed her decision to speak publicly as a way to carry on her late husband’s legacy, critics have accused her of turning her grief into a spectacle for personal or professional gain. Others have made harsh comments about her image or mocked her appearance.
The backlash intensified when the 37-year-old had a slip of the tongue at a Turning Point event in December, saying Charlie persevered with “grift” instead of “grit.”

My husband wound up in the icu, was released, collapsed before exiting the building and sent back in. Those 2 weeks were the scariest most humbling times ive ever faced. Im pushing 40 and have spent everyday since I was 16 with him. It wasnt until about 9 days in that I realized how often the nurses were complimenting how I looked cute in my very plain oversized, mens sweatsuit that it hit me they are nicely trying to tell me that I've worn the same outfit for a week bc id leave them by my bed so I could throw them over my jammies in the am, get the kids to school and to the hospital without wasting time to choose clothes. The number of my 80yrs old + friends and customers that watched me struggle with this, learn he came home and then broke into tears to tell me that losing their spouse 20yrs ago never got a little easier and their hearts break 100xs a day was eye opening and crushing

To Anony Mouse - I can't comment on your post because of the BP nonsense that is going on with people being unable to respond to every 10th post, but I disagree with you and will tell you why. I think she is a self-absorbed drama queen who holds the opposite of the majority of beliefs I do about life. I think she is a grifter, a poser, a liar, and a conman. She is one of the fakest pretend Christians I have ever seen, and I have lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lynchburg, Virginia, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, home of some of the biggest religious grifters of all time. She is the exact sort of person that has brought America down to the level of places like Nazi Germany and it is her ilk that have produced this toxicity. No, every bit of this is deserved. She should stay home and take care of her kids like she and her husband proclaimed was the right thing to do for years ("God said so!"), but she's too big of a hypocrite to do it. I call BS on almost everything she has ever said.
