So you’ve been thinking for a while about getting a cat right?
I spent years waiting to be able to get my own cat, I mean I’ve had cat’s before but they were never really mine. They either belonged to my parents or were shared with a housemate who later took it on as their own.
But I can tell you for sure, no matter how long you wait and plan you can never be 100% ready for when you bring your little fur baby home.
So I have compiled a list of thing’s you can do to help you be better prepared for when the kitty arrives.
Make sure to choose the right Cat for you!
There are so many choices of breeds available!
Not to mention you have the choice of choosing a little kitten to or an adult cat to join your family!
Then there’s the option to buy or adopt, and there’s a wide variety of organizations out there you can adopt from.

Prepare the House
Cat’s are extremely clean creatures, even though some may like to make a mess. If you want to keep your house clean then lead by example.
Make sure to tidy away anything that may cause the new cat any distress or harm, and the same goes for anything it can damage, remember it is new to your house so it doesn’t know the rules yet.

Can you Afford it?
Now if you panic at the thought of buying all of the supplies for your cat then how are you going to cope when it actually arrives?
This is one I didn’t think about through all the excitement!
But you have to consider weather you are going to be able to pay for food and litter every single week, and vet bills when ever they come up.

Make Sure you are Ready!
Wanting a cat doesn’t make you ready for a cat.
You have to be prepared to be woken up at silly hours by a kitten biting at your toes or attacking your hair.
Being suffocated in your sleep because they think your face is a comfy place for them to take a nap. These things can be trained out of them, but cat’s are naturally wild, so if your going to make the choice to take one into your home, make sure you are prepared to deal with what’s to come.
